Root The road to Android ICS 4.0 on the Triumph

any furthur news on this project isaac? :D also, would you be able to give us something to play with? even if its completely broken... (please dont think im bugging you, i am just curious.)

Isn't it funny how excited we get when we see a "Page 3" to this forum and we smile and can't wait for it to load???
I absolutely love the idea of ICS on the triumph, and I agree about wanting to play with this! I missed out on the Gingy build, and would love to be a part of this!
Any testing or anything YOU need done Isaac, please let me know!

well im kinda excited but honestly, i despise the ics icon set. :( i like everything else though.:D

you should just have to wipe your dalvik cache and flash the new zip, if its the same rom... like updating to a newer version of miui switching to a different rom you would have to do a factory reset to...

sorry if I'm dense, but I couldn't understand that. Are you saying that I do or don't have to do a factory reset for a MIUI update?

AFAIK, it's only applicable to Samsung's Galaxy series. TBH, I'm not exactly sure what ODIN is, but I remember having to deal with it on my buddy's Epic 4G Touch. I guess it's some kind of bootloader.
Which is weird as it's in our phones root guide

That is part of the standardized Root Guide format that rolled out on all of them (or will be soon, for some) across the ATR sections of the forums.

I think I will bring it up to the people doing this. I didn't notice it until it was brought up here, but it is pretty much just for Samsung phones.

Odin is what's used to flash Samsung phones (that's my understanding anyway). They do things differently from everyone else and stuff gets flashed with that as opposed to the standard recovery image stuff. From what I am told, if someone tries to use Odin to flash something on a non Samsung phone, it just won't happen. There will be no damage done to the phone. That being said, I wouldn't mess with it at all on our phones.

ODIN is Samsung's abortion to load code on their phones, it is finicky as hell, and occasionally interacts badly with the USB driver and bricks the phone instead of updating it.

Be glad you don't need to deal with it. I've come damn close to a HARD brick on my Vibrant using it several times. I like Samsung products in general but ODIN is an abortion that raises white-hot hatred in me.

Heimdal tries to alleviate this but has its own issues.

Has anybody taken off the "screen protector" from the Motorola triumph ? And if so is the touchscreen more accurate?

I have taken it off as I know quite a few people have... I never really had the factory screen protector on to test the accuracy with and with out it... Either way I use a Zagg invisishield and I don't have any problems beside the crossing of axis with 2 fingers totally screwing with the touch screen. The usual.
