The ultimate question?

Picard.

Kirk is a good captain, but he sometimes acts on impulse, not reason. Picard is one of the best diplomats in Starfleet, probably the best. Picard looks at the bigger picture, and relies on Riker to do the rough stuff. Though he still knows how to kick a Klingon's ass.

None of the other Star Trek captains come close to either. Janeway and Sisko are definitely good captains though. I never really had a reason to care about Archer, he's not a great captain.

lol. I know a lot of people out there are die hard kirk fans.

I personally admire Jean-Luc Picard because, he is very calm cool and collected at all times... Even setting his own ship to self destruct seems like a minor issue to him.

The fact that he is so calm and logical astounds me. Even when he makes mistakes, he accepts them with grace and learns from them.

Plus Riker makes the perfect kirk-like contrast.. Riker is much younger and more passionate although perhaps not *as* potentially wild as Kirk ... He makes the perfect "student" if you will.

I think that is what I like about Picard.. he takes a very mentor like role in the series.
 
Dude(s) Picard is FRENCH. Aren't they the biggest Wussies we have here on this planet? Seriously, I know you all think he could be there in a pinch, but I am sure he would surrender at some point......:eek:

And Kirk already showed the preference to destroy his own ship as oppose to surrender.

Picard may not get down and get his hands dirty in the fighting (he's got people for that), but he knows how to deal with a problem and lead a ship of people who's lives depend on him.

LOL! I am just old school, I guess. When I think Captain of the Enterprise, Kirk is the first and only that pops into my mind. To me he is THE captain.
