I, the guy who gave out Happy New Year cards instead of those other ones, spent Christmas with my make-believe family at Mom's assisted-living facility. Said family is her and her fake husband that lives down the hall, a couple that used to come visit her mother but kept coming even though she passed away, and me, who swore for the umpteenth time never to live in a place like that. We exchanged no gifts, but I brought the wine... ho ho ho.

What did I get for Christmas? ;)

Lets see. :)

Well this year has been 1 hell of an awesome year for me...

I got some chocolates. :D

I LOVE sweet stuff :D

I also got something better than anything I can think of... I got my spirit back.

I don't know how... nothing comes close to this great feeling.

It has been a while I will say that. ;)

Oh my hat it has been a while man ;)

And above all else... it has been a while since I could feel again... :)

It has been a while man ... it has been a while :)

God loves me... it always did...

I am free...

I stretched myself beyond my means... I like that part.

God's speed my friends.

Merry Christmas to you all... and Merry Christmas to all the animals... all the ones great and small... all the ones young and bold... wonderful... and bald. ;)

Merry Christmas and a Happy wonderful life to you all.

You have the key... every time.

"And it's been a while since I said I am sorry."

Socks, a wallet, a toblerone....

and SO MANY CLOTHES in the SALLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

(and maybe an N5 in the new year)

A salt pig, a new wallet, $, jammies. a bottle of wine, scratch off lottery tickets , a cutting board and some Russian teacakes.:)

I received one odd gift this year. Naturally... my kids know I'm odd lol. I got a toy RC spy car. I can't see of it's value but it was sort of fun to play with. This car is controlled via a wifi connection between your android device and the car. You can go forward and reverse with two speeds and left and right. It has a couple of cameras on the car and it's picture shows up on your phone or tablet. One camera is b&w and the other is a night vision camera. You can cap a pic or a vid or just watch as you drive along. I fired it up, drove it out of the office and down the hall. Then through the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. As I headed into the utility room my dogs, completely freaked out, dashed out through the doggie door. All the while I was sitting here in the office with my feet up on the desk lol. Like I said.. no particular value but it was fun. :)

My family being together right now is the best gift I could've gotten. :) My husband, our daughter, her husband, and their two beautiful boys are all here. Words can't describe the joy of watching two very energetic grandsons laughing and playing and having fun. :D

Another gift is the [reluctant, on my part] transformation of my mom's room into a guest room. Pics from the day Mom died and now:

You may see my little princess, Joy Noelle, checking out the new bed. :)

2x $50 Google Play gift card
1x Google Chromecast
1x North Face winter hat
1x Kenneth Cole scarf
1x pair of underwear
1x pair of socks

Nothing tremendous, but pretty much all I wanted or needed.

Well, I must admit, I had a very interesting Holiday Season to date. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like this ever in my life.

I was one of the 200+ thousand people that had no power on Dec.22nd around 12:30am. Also discovered a tree branch took out my phone line (so no internet and landline phone). I finally got power back on Christmas Eve and ended up puking my guts out later that same day. My phone and internet just came back today after the tech patched and hooked the wire back.

On a side note, the power outage made it the most beautiful thing I have ever seen (trees literally covered in sheets of ice; from top to bottom). It was also very unnatural with all the trees literally being bent out of shape. Some even splintered at the trunk due to the excessive weight of the ice formations. The only fear was if the trees in our backyard will fall apart and come crashing down on the cars and/or the house. They were strained and you can see it. One branch was literally broken, but still clinging onto the main trunk a few feet over. It's hard to explain in words and pictures don't do it justice. It's one of those things where the experience was just undescribable.

Cold weather didn't help as it was dropping our house temps down to the single digits. Keeping warm was a challenge.

Stayed in bed all of Christmas with a low grade fever and severe chest pain. Liquid diet for the better part of the day.

My sister and mom were sick with the flu.

But in the end, I'm still thankful that I'm still here. I'm still recovering and not my full self yet. My sister and mom are still recovering too. I think this is one of the few times I am really thankful and appreciative of the life I have and how blessed I was during this time. There are still small pockets that have no power still.

Wow, glad things are getting back to normal and you are feeling better. At least you will have an interesting story to tell whenever somebody complains about having a crappy Christmas for years to come lol.

For my actual Christmas gifts, I recieved my 3 favorite Christmas movies from my daughter: Christmas with the Kranks, White Christmas, and It's a Wonderful Life.
From my husband, I had actually picked out my own Christmas gift about a week before, and that was a really nice exercise bike.
And last but not least...today as a belated Christmas gift, we ordered a really nice upgrade to my wedding rings, and as much as I love the current rings, I am rather excited to see the new set when it comes in next week. Last Christmas I upgraded my husband's wedding band to a nicer one, so I suppose it was my turn now. We have been married for 25+ years.:)
