Root [Theme] Black, White, and Chrome for ApeX 1.4.0

I now cannot access the market. What do I do?

With root explorer, check /system/app, if you have "Vending.apk" there, delete it.

Check /data too, if you see anything market related there, delete it too.

Now install the market that came with ApeX 1.4.0 originally.

Not sure how. I deleted Vending.apk in root explorer. Installed the stock market.zip while mounted in recovery and still nothing.

What am I missing?

I pulled this from the ApeX 1.4.0 app folder:

Stock_ApeX_1.4.0_Market.zip

Tried it and it installs but then goes to this.

I don't know what's up with ApeX this time around, it's been causing all kinds of issues.....even framework-res.apk can't be recompiled after you decompile it

Do a restore of a backup, or start all over (I know this option sucks).

OR ask Fabolous, maybe he knows what's going on here???

P.S. I've installed the black market v2.3.2 on both Liberty 1.5 and Fission 2.6.1 and it works just fine.

I went through and hopefully removed all the black market links. I can no longer recommend that anyone installs it over ApeX because there is too big of a risk of messing the market up.

If you do it, it's at your own risk.

UPDATED first post.

What do you think of these?

That's what I install when I mod a theme.

No problem, I'm sure others were looking for something like this :D

Next question. Now since I got all this stuff fixed on my X just like I like it, Apex 1.4.1 is now out...lol! Will your current BWC Theme written for 1.4.0 and the color battery meter you made for me work in 1.4.1?

It should, you will have to re-apply them though, at least that's what Faboulous said in the main ApeX 1.4.0 thread.

Here's the question and answer by Fabolous:

Wipe cache, install 1.4.1, reinstall theme. You can do all that with one trip to recovery ;)

I did see that post before, but I just wanted to make sure the theme and the new colored battery would work before I did switch to 1.4.1. I want to keep all of that.

So, this is more or less just an update, not like installing a whole new ROM and loosing everything.

He made some changes to fix sound on animation and to solve FC issues and a few other things; he didn't mess with the framework or apps, so you should be fine. He would have made it clear if he had made major changes that effect themes.

Hi,... This is my first post on these forums and I just want to thank you for a lovely theme. It installed without any problems at all. So thanks!

On a side note for those who still want to try a themed market. I have successfully used the black themed market zip file modified by wugfresh in the Droid X forums. It is a replacement of 2.3.2 only not 2.3.3. I started with 2.3.3 which was the new update. I went into setting/applications/manage applications/market and uninstalled update. Then I used titanium to freeze the market updater file. I imagine you could rename the market updater file in root explorer if you do not have titanium pro. I got the Market 2.3.2 fullblack zip file from the droid x forums downloaded it and flashed it using bootstapper. Most recommendations are to mount system but there is no need to clear cache or data. I did it right over the BWC theme which I had installed and ApeX 1.41. I have been using it successfully, updating apps and downloading without difficulty for almost a week now.I believe you can also find the files at XDA forums but I have not personally looked. You cannot allow a market update or you loose your black market. Hope this helps somebody.

I believe the issue was with ApeX 1.4.0, 1.4.1 seems to have solved the problem.

You might as well go with v2.3.3 since it's the newest out.

Glad you like the theme :D

i like the theme mainly because of the dial pad (i know...i know....a lot of people like the default one from apex). anyway, i know about the problems with the black market....doesnt matter to me...but, is the theme itself good to go.

The theme is fine........the market may or may not work for you.
