Root [Themed ROM] NexBeast V1.1 (updated 5/27/2010)

I need some help in installing the ADW launcher. I use the instructions from the first post. 'Place on SD card, rename to Launcher.apk, open up terminal emulator', this doesn't work for me. I've tried doing it zipped and unzipped. Need a little direction, tried to search this forum for ADW launcher installs but it seems that i'm the only newbie who can't do it. Any help would be appreciated.

you're doing it right. After you rename to launcher.apk open Terminal Emulator, just type in

su
(press enter)

switchlnchr
(press enter)

Done.

btw: you don't rename the zip file to launcher.apk. You need to find the correct .zip from the ADW site or from this forum. The file should be something like ADW.Launcher.0.7rc3.zip. Unzip that on your computer, then find the Launcher.apk and put in on the root of your SD card.

When I do that then I receive:
cp:cannot stat '/sdcard/launcher.apk': No such file or directory
mount: Device or resource busy
Changed launchers

I am not mounted the file and the file is in my sdcard on the root. What am I missing? I also downloaded the file that you have to download in order to use his scripts but I want to upgrade, and that download is for the beta.

Those that want perfect video MMS playback, I will include the other file that works for that (but with a broken LED color selector). The thing is, once you select a color with the included, original MMS, it will still carry over :D

As for NexBeast 1.1, I'm hoping to finish it today, because if I don't, I won't be able to work on it for a while (going on a little trip starting tomorrow).

I'll install over the current 1.0.1 and see how it goes this time. Ever since I did a clean install I haven't had a single acore FC.

:eek: As impatient as some people are around here , that's going to drive them nuts! I'm patient though beacause I want the quality that you put into it.:D

Can you install this as a zip using clockworkmod?
 
I just wanted to mention that I was using bekit's 1.0ghz without any issues, but after a lot of people reported getting better battery life with the p3droid kernel I decided to try it. After using the 1.0ghz p3droid kernel for a few days I noticed a big change in battery life. Instead of charging every night I HAD to charge it during the day as well.

I am now running the 800mhz bekit kernel and am back to good battery life. (I decided to go with 800mhz because the speed difference seems minimal and my ADW launcer is smooth and fast at 800mhz)
 
Serious question, what is the love affair with Rom Manager? Seriously, installing a rom is not difficult and shelling out $5 doesn't seem worth it.

Fab, will theme CM 5.0.7.1? I want to try that rom but hate the stock theme.

I don't have a real host (Mediafire sux). Also, I figure it might be a headache dealing with troubleshooting, etc.

Themed LauncherPro v0.3.0 w/ customizable shortcuts:

com.fede.launcher.apk

Finally got the launcher button to glow green :D

If you already have LauncherPro installed, you'll need to uninstall first (and redo your homescreens, sorry!)
