Root [Themed ROM] NexBeast V1.1 (updated 5/27/2010)

OK... newb question.

How do I run the custom scripts?
I downloaded Helix2 from the link on pg1 - put it on root of SD.
Launched Terminal Emulator
did SU and got # prompt
Tried -insthelix2 and insthelix2 - I get not found.

Yeah - im sure im missing something dumb.. but this is my first rom goround... be gentle! :D

I actually removed those scripts. It was a lot of hassle to change all the updater scripts to set the permissions properly. Also, I felt like ADW or LauncherPro was enough for most users. But, you can manually do it this way:

Is there a way to download the new version using the browser on your phone...I'm using the stock browser and got two errors
1) cannot download. the content is not supported on this phone
2) cannot download. the size of the item cannot be determined

Is this because it's getting hammered by tons of people trying to download or because I just can't download it from mediafire using my phone?

I'm at work and the firewall won't let me download from mediafire.

I've been able to download from mediafire with my droid before. I think maybe it's just acting up.

Also, I've noticed there is a version of ADW on the market now, and it has a couple new features:

So I've themed that one too and signed it. You can install just as you would a regular .apk.

You'll probably want to use the instructions in the OP on how to remove ADW Launcher (you probably don't want two copies :D )

I wouldn't recommend making the LAB/RAB size anything larger than 6 ;)

Well, rooting your phone is step #1. You won't be able to do any of what you're reading within this thread without first being rooted. Check out this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/82742-all-new-guide-all-things-root-related.html It will guide you through the steps necessary to root your phone. And if you get stuck there's plenty of people on here that can help.
 
is pete's script still modified in this version? I know nexbeast 1.0 script was modified so that it wouldnt clash with SetCPU
 
I've been using titanium to backup my apps and data. But now I'm wondering if I'm restoring some things from the previous ROM (NexBeast 1.01) that have been updated in the newest ROM (NexBeast 1.1). Anyway for me to tell?

Fab, I know you've said that you don't use titanium but never figured out what you were using to back up and restore your apps and settings.
