Check your Swype install location. If it is on the SD card, every time you unmount and remount your SD, you will need to enable Swype again.
I have Swype installed on my SD card and it happens to me all the time. As far as I'm concerned, this is not that big a price to pay in order to save almost 10Mb space internally.

that was definitely it but I have 90 mb's free so it wasn't such a big deal but thanks for the tip.

Unless he doesn't want it getting confused with 2.2 Froyo.
