Root TheUltimateDroid 2.1! :D

I am finding that the stock 800MHz kernel is smooth, fast and great on battery. For the first time I don't feel led to flash a different kernel.

What he said....

Edit: actually, haven't even felt the need to flash a theme either. Sweet.

I'm not sure if I just did something to my camera about the time I flashed, but there is no color uniformity anymore. The center of pictures tend to have a yellow tint. Anyone else experiencing this?

im not having this with this version but I did have it with 2.0. did you come from 2.0 and not wipe data and cache?

I installed TheUltmateDroid 2.1 yesterday and it is awesome. I only have one issue and I am sure it is me and not the ROM but maybe it is a setting in this ROM that I am not used to or have overlooked. When I change my phone to vibrate it doesn't vibrate when I get a text message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

go to your messaging. press menu and go to settings. scroll down to notification settings and put the vibrate option to always or only in silent mode.

Does anyone know how to turn off the tones when you dial a number. I haven't been able to find this and it's very annoying.

Nevermind I found it. I thought it was a UD thing, but it wasn't

I am still getting the camera issue, and even with the Slayher 1.1 kernel this rom is running sluggish. Bummer...I really wanted to like it. Oh well, back to LF 1.95

What camera issue is that? If it has anything to do with the camera constantly focusing in and out and the LED flashing, open your camera. In the top right corner of the actual screen (landscape) or far right on the bottom (portrait), look for what looks like a power button, press it, in the focus mode section, change from continuous to auto. That will take care of you camera problem, unless you are talking about something else.

As for the lag, either try a different kernel or just use the stock kernel. I have heard great things about the stock kernel. I usually use Chevy's LV 1.1Ghz, but when I flashed yesterdays nightly build, I left the kernel stock and see better performance with that one.

Are you actually flashing nightly builds? I can't imagine trying to keep track of what you like and don't like from each build.

But it is kinda cool, isn't it?

I sure am!!! Right now, he's mostly just adding stuff and fixing things. Such as the new phone.apk. He just release today's nightly build so I'm anxious to see what he fixed in the phone.apk.

It's not really that bad. I made a nandroid of 2.1.0 before I started with the nightlies and probably won't make another nandroid for a while, or unless I get a nightly that is perfect. No wipe is required, so I just download and flash. Take about 10 minutes, tops.

Yea, I know it's not a time issue. Heck, I flashed 2.1 right over top of 2.0 without incident. But every night? Hhmmn...

You know I'm headed over to the forum right after I click 'Submit Reply'. :o :o :o (Serial Flasher!)

It's just too much to turn down! And yes Serial Flashers... Someone on that forum made the comment that it sounds like we are all committing weird, illegal sex crimes... lol...

I'm having a brain fart or something. I can add to my quick text list by long-pressing on a text and selecting to add to quick text. But how do I delete a quick text, or edit the list? I can't find it anywhere.

Installed over 2.0 and everything was fine. I noticed the other night that my twitter and facebook accounts disappeared from my phone. I input the login/pass and saw the sync icon come up and didn't think much more of it. A day later they were gone again along with my exchange account. I put all of the info back in and then after a reboot the twitter and facebook accounts disappeared again. I thought it might help to wipe and do a fresh install but I am still having the same problems. The only account that does not disappear is my gmail. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Either. (I do use Handcent, but can't find it in the stock app either. Or the Keyboard settings.)

As far as I know, the stock app doesn't have a setting like that. I just went into it and cannot even find a setting to add quick text.

Handcent can be found by opening the app to your conversations list>settings>app settings>quick text settings. Then you select the quick text you wish to delete and delete it. The delete button is at the top of the box.

I'm not sure about any other messaging apps.

First off let me say that this ROM is amazing, and I will be hitting the donate link in a day or so. This ROM is very smooth and has no lag @ 800MHz. There are almost too many options for customizing this ROM. I have horrible battery life now, not because of the ROM performance, but from playing with all of the options.:D I can't put the phone down. This is what I love about Android and this community, it's like you get a new phone every couple of weeks. I'm not as brave as Kratos to go with nightlies, so I generally research a ROM for a couple of weeks.

With that said, what kernels have people tried with this ROM? I know Kratos is using the ChevyNo1 1.1, but has anyone used any others. My phone really likes the P3 Kernels. I'm not sure if the current 2.2 P3 kernels are compatible with this ROM, so I am soliciting feedback on these and any others people have tried.

Man I love this ROM, but the fact that he took out the feature of being able to go to silent and vibrate without having to go through the damn menu shit makes me sad! I miss this SO much right now! Why the hell they took it out in 2.2 is BEYOND me!

I have faith in BD that he will not release a nightly that is going to "brick" my phone. I cannot say that about any other ROMs as I ahve only flashed a couple others.

One thing I like about the nightly releases the most is that I am able to give honest feedback about features I like and don't like about each release. I only hope that my (and everyone else's) feedback can help to make this ROM even better for final releases.
