It's finally out of beta! Release Candidate 1 of UD3 is out NOW:

Changelog since beta:

- Updated build to 2.3.2 (sms bug fixed)
- MASSIVE performance improvements since 3.0.0 beta (faster, much more memory available)
- Made a lot of changes to the new theming engine
- Added fix for cdma phone signal issue
- Began Work on New UDLauncher3 (dustinmj/anderweb/blackdroid)
* Fastest 3D launcher on the planet
* Long press for customizable shortcuts
* Customizable number of shortcuts,
* Customizable launcher style
* Customizable launcher background
* Scrollable widget support
* Cleaned up code, made a few changes to launcher workspace
* (Full screen mode, Resizable widgets, Customizable number of screen, hide icon labels, and double tap to show previews still to come,)
- Added new scrollable galaxy s notification widget (customizable from ud settings - cvpcs)
- New Overhauled Music App w/ 5 widgets(Josh Stone)
- Phone and Messaging Lockscreen options are now "Phone and Custom App"
- Phone and Custom App now works with rotary lockscreen as well as the tabs lockscreen (Sven Dawitz/Blackdroid)
- Sound On ->> Vibrate On ->> Sound Off - Toggle On Lockscreen
- Rotary lockscreen + Phone and Custom app = new rotary lockscreen layout (hint:pull down)
- You now get rotary answer widget when rotary lockscreen enabled
- Removed Carrier From Status Bar and made clear button bigger (scroll to bottom of list to access clear button)
- Added Maket Apps Installer (by kmobs)
- Even more work done on UD Settings Overhaul (not fully complete)
- Porting UD Theme over to new theming system (not fully complete)

Things STILL not working:

- UD Settings can only be accessed by long press search or selection from an open launcher
- Camera
- Accelerometer
 
KEEP IN MIND that, if you flash this ROM, the camera will NOT work. BlackDroid is working on the camera interface and it's not done yet. SO if you take a lot of pictures with your Droid, you may want to wait until RC2 comes out.
 
*sigh* I was reallly looking forward to this, but it seems to be moving backwards from from LiquidGB at this point. Battery life may be terrible on liquid but at least the camera and accelerometer work.
 
Patiently waiting for a fully functioning build. Not sure why this is labeled a 'RC1' release. A borked accelerometer is a pretty major problem. I love UD ROMS, but this is still a beta.

Of course I say that while I'm backing up my 3.0 beta and TiBu so I can be ready to jump on this the second it comes out.

LOL... Yea, well, I don't mind some of those things, but it's the stupid messaging issue I'm having that makes me sad. I know it's not his 3.0.0 ROM specifically, but oh well...

I am with you on that. This release should be 3.0.0 beta2. You will not catch Cyanogen calling a version with a broken accelerometer/camera a Release Candidate.

Because BD always makes promises of releases way too soon, then has to release something ... albeit late as well. :confused: I like the UD ROMs, but the dev has some of the strangest business and/or behavioral practices I've ever witnessed. Whatever... For now I'll just stick with LGB. I do take enough pics for this release to be a non-option for me.
 
Anyone able to host the file on mediafire or something? UD website isn't letting me login right now to dl it....for whatever ungodly reason.

People need to let this one go. ALL CUSTOM ROMS ARE MADE USING SOMEONE ELSES WORK AS A STARTING POINT! Even the ones built directly from AOSP are using code written by someone else... its not like the original AOSP release compiled itself from thin air. UD is not charging for his releases and gives Cyanogen credit in the ROM info, so I don't know what more people want.

Thanks for putting this out there. And nightlies started about a week and a half ago so your just a liiiiiitle sir. Will probably get to flashing this at some point though. I've been waiting to see these "huge changes" BD put into this. The only problem with this is that then I'm going to miss out on CM nightlies which I have been enjoying while I waited for an everything works kind of build. And of course Chief would be the one to get the news out on UD3 RC1 I always see that guy on the UD website dang that guy loves this rom.;):D:o:):(:confused::mad::p:rolleyes::cool::eek:
 
I prefer this over LGB mainly because of much better battery life and smoother performance. But then, I don't use the camera much.

That said, I agree that this shouldn't be labeled as a release candidate when it still has issues like this. It *is* significantly better (and faster) than the first 3.0 beta, but it's not a candidate for release.
 
I don't want to sound like a hipster, but UD fell of after 8.0. I flashed back to it after the CM 6.1.2 and the UD 3.0 beta and I am wondering why I ever switched from it. Battery life is around 30 hours before the indicator turns red (hits 15...or maybe 10%?) and that's with use by a college student during and between classes of heavy browsing, 2500+ texts (monthly), and a good bit of quick phone calls. Using the ulv 1.25Ghz kernel and I am just floored at how well it runs at 1.0 Ghz ondemand.

In case you haven't figured it out (i.e. don't read any website outside of AF) then you'll know there really isn't anything GB currently offers that is compelling enough to move up.

Of course, this is all relative, but I feel many users and I share the same tastes and uses of these ROMs and would agree. Some just need to have the latest but not always the greatest firmware (I'm guilty of this all the time) but this is one of those rare occasions where I can downgrade ( a good bit) and be happier than people running 3.0.
 
Accelerometer works well, camera is still broken. I'm going to try some 3rd-party apps and see if it's just the UI that's messed up.
