Root They know how the efuse works? Getting closer to more customr roms?

The crew working on this is hardcore. Thanks.

Don't be too supprised is this works for a year or 2 in development products. IE when the DX2 comes out it will most likely work on it too. (I assume it will be called that)

MOTO and VZ just want to keep some level of controls and ability to market subsidize their products for the mass lemmings. This is why they come with amazon and blockbuster and other BS on the phone at day one and its mostly unremovable for the common person.

Figure that there are millions of DX's out there that nobody intends to root or bootstrap. its not really worth their time. They don't really care about the mod community and honestly neither does any industry. Cars, computers, etc. Think of the liability of it.

Say you do bootstrap and overclock the piss out of your phone. To where the LIPO battery gets hot enough to light, then it burns in your pocket. You of course sue MOTO over the 3rd degree burn. This cause bad press, however the phone is so destroyed they have no proof of modded status.

Lawsuits galore.

enter the efuse, which by the way its not new by any means.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say but it's good to know VZW and Moto are out to save us from blowing ourselves up by overclocking. LOL

And hear I thought they were just being dicks. Silly me.

thanks for the heads up.

BTW can you point me to a single law suit from someone burning them self with a cell phone that caught on fire ? the D1 has been over clocked for awhile now so there should be plenty to choose from.

...And you also contradicted yourself. How can you build one that could never be cracked if everything can be cracked?

Lol, hey I'd know it could be cracked, but if I'm selling myself I'm not going to let them know it could be cracked! ;)

I don't think he was insinuating that he believes we're all in jeapardy of winding up in the burn unit down at our local hospitals. I believe he was more or less just sighting possilbe excuses someone at Motorola might give if asked why they're locking down the bootloaders so tight.

I will give 'the masses' credit though, there are some honest to goodness idiots out there. And like what I think he was pointing out is, it only takes one idiot doing something completely absurd, and filing a lawsuit afterwards to cause a company all kinds of grief. Companies really don't have any choice but to protect themselves against shit that they really shouldn't have to protect themselves against. If you've ever read a, "Stupid Lawsuits" book of any sort you know what I'm talking about. Some people go out of their way to missuse a product in a way so that they get injured just so that they can sue the company and live on easy street.

The biggest problem is that the courts have awarded so many of these people victories when anyone with any sense of logic at all can see that it should never have gone to court in the first place. Like the guy who sucessfully sued the lawnmower company after he chopped his fingers off when he tried to pick the lawnmower up to trim his bushes with it. If I were the judge of that case I would have told the guy, "we shouldn't be giving you ten million dollars, we should be permanently removing your from the gene pool so you can't breed any more idiots that don't know any better than picking up a running lawnmower".

While I don't agree with locking down our phones, I do acknowledge that companies unfortunately have to cover their own asses against some really ridiculous lawsuits that have been waged against them.

ahhh my post got deleted :( I was just pointing out that a guy named Napalm (an explosive) was talking about exploding batteries. I wasn't trying to make fun of anyone :(

....feeling misunderstood :(

Well that gives me a idea I'm suing them for not letting me burn up my own ass with the phone because they locked it.. Should be worth a couple mill ....That'll teach'em!!:D

With that said I'm pretty sure locking the bootloader had nothing to do with covering their ass. Its just a way for them to better control the life cycle of the phone and hopefully force the user to upgrade sooner than they would if they could upgrade it themselves.

Mind if we all jump on board and turn this into a class action suit? :)

The more the merrier! When we're done we'll get $2.43 each and some lawyer will get $14,000,000. Its not the money though its the point , right? ...right?

Ok it's settled then........ I will handle the lawyer end of things :D

Oh yeah for sure.:D just got to get it now.

Well I made a BIG mistake...
I went over to that other forum and started reading the all things root thread (which d13 is all over) and they are already cooking ROMs Overclocking etc etc ....so now I have to dig up some cash DAMN PHONES!!! :D

Off to ebay grumble gumble
