thinking of getting S2

So that explains the argumentative behavior. ;)

j/k of course. I am sure you will have your fill of solicitor jokes, if you haven't already.

Yes, to be fair as soon as I clicked 'send' on that post I suddenly realised the vulnerability to derision of that particular sentence ;)

Hopefully no stereotypes have been enforced :)

Of course not!

ISaying YOUR phone doesn't have it isn't helpful. You only have ONE. I've (for various reasons involving screen defects) tested maybe 50 different gs2's over the months, either ones belonging to friends or in shops. Nearly all of them have issues and chief among the issues is the pink spot.

And saying that you will almost definitely get that issue is even less helpful as it isn't the case.
The reason that I started that my phone didn't have this problem was to show that its not a universal problem. At the end off the day of I was having second thoughts about buying a phone because a possible faulty screen I would want someone to show me an example where the phone works perfectly to put my mind at rest.

As for me having ulterior motives for posting. Not quite sure where you got that from. Oh well, I'm not here to impress you.

Things have been getting heated around here..largely by me I guess. Anyway it's all chilled now. Apologies for the inference Shotgun.

I should really be doing some bloody work and not being an arse on this forum.

Love and good will to all x

so back to he question in hand, should i be worried lmao.

just deciding to go down 12 month contract or sim free route.

Got a couple of choices (But all means getting the SGS)

1) Wait for SGS3

2) Get a one year contract with SGS2, then get an upgrade for SGS3

3) Get a SGS2 sim free and use it until it breaks before getting SGS4 (maybe)?

Hehe... What I mean is that the SGS is the top phone right now, and I strongly suspect that with it coming up with practically yearly upgrades, this line of phones could easily stay at the top for a couple more years.

IMHO, if you want a smartphone get SGS2. When you get it, look out for some of the common problems highlighted and test it. Then see if you want to return it. But really suggest you don't be too mean about it.

I mean people complain about not enough phone memory, but they knew about the memory before they buy the phone and its a lot more than other phones, and enough in my opinion. They also complain about the screen in red blotches in black wallpaper in a BLACK room. But if its not serious enough to effect everyday use, is it that big a problem. (I do have a red tinge but its not in blotches and I still love the screen.)

So yeah.... get it. Test it out. Find the right one. And be happy. And if you get the SGS3, I am going to be soo envious.

Believe me, this place is an oasis of calm and tranquility compared to other sections I could name. Stepping in to those is like a cross between refereeing a cage fight and herding cats.

Be wary rather than worried. You've a good idea of possible issues to watch for, and don't be fobbed-off if you find any. You've the right to expect a new device to be 100%.

1) Wait for SGS3

Disclaimer: other brands/models of smartphone are also available. ;)

I think it's premature in early December to assume that Samsung's next offering is going to have the same advantage over the competition as this one had. Until we see firm announcements in February I'd advise against planning a next-gen purchase, especially as products are unlikely to hit shelves until May at the earliest. That's half a 12mth contract away.

You are probably right about being premature. And there might be bugs. Then again, maybe I am just an optimist. Samsung is ahead right now, and I just can't see them losing the lead just yet. At least not for the next couple of offerings.

Will see what happens in 6 months.

Regarding SG3, Im not too optimist that it will be out before end of Q2. Probably will be announced by end of Q1.
I've got SG2 a month ago and like every other smartphone or mobile I had, it has a prob here and there but with places like this on the internet, there is a solution for everything... errr, almost everything.
Re my SG2, its behaving very well (knock the wood!)
