Does anyone know what the cost for a 1yr contract is on the TB? I have called VZW a few times today, at first I got "this phone has not been announced" WTF? Then I got we have no pricing info yet, WTF again? Then lastly I got we dont know if it will have a Mail IN rebate.... Dont we all know that there are no Main-ins for phones over $199. Why dont VZW employees know these things....

Anyways, back to my question? Anyone know cost of one year?? Thanks!

I am wondering the same-- Although the TB is a great phone, I'm anticipating march 2012 to have great phones also. A one yr could be worth they money to upgrade later.

Maybe we wont know until thursday? What I do know is that VZW are the only ones who offer the one-yrs.

Any info would be great! thx

Let me ask this ... if VZW has the trade in program now ... why bother with a 1 year contract? Why not get a two year and lock your unlimited 4G and a cheaper Bolt now. If something better comes along, you can buy it off contract, trade in your Bolt, and then use the money towards paying your bill for the next couple of months. I would think in the long run, the amount of money would even out to be the same as buying two phones on 1 year contracts subsequently but you lock your unlimited 4G for 2 years if you sign a two year agreement now.

Anyone see a flaw there?

I sort of understand but I think you have more information than I do-- Is verizon doing a buy back program also? I know they wont take anything for the phone I have now--

Are you saying I could sell the TB back in a yr for a reasonable price?

What about VZWs new upgrade policy between the first 20 months or something?

What do you mean by unlimited 4g? Are you limited to phone use with a one-yr?

So confusing!

I was told by 3 stores all corporate that there would be no one year contracts. FWIW I talked to a guy who somewhat had a clue and he relayed it would probably be 70-100 more than a 2 year if he was able to do it on Thurs.

I got that from my store. They don't know the final pricing model yet. They know $249.99 for 2 years only right now.

The guy at my store said 3-350 is what is expected. Not worth it because an early upgrade ( after just over a year of the contract charges u like 20 bucks more)

1 year contract always add $70 to the 2yr contract price. I've done it with my last 3 phones.

Itching to drop my dinc for the tb.

?!?!? I thought early upgrades were no longer allowed with the new contracts.

It's not upgrading early if you only sign a 1 year contract. A one year contract costs $70 more and allows you to upgrade your phone a year from purchase with discounted pricing.

You can keep doing this (if you're okay with paying 70 more for your phone each time) and get a brand spankin' new phone at discounted pricing every year.

That's my solution. The $70 is worth it for me. I always end up selling my year old phone for around $200.

inTECHrity, our responses about early upgrades going away were in response to WarJorge who was saying a 1-year contract isn't worth it since you can do an early upgrade for 20 bucks more. But early upgrades are gone now along with New Every 2.

I agree, $70 is worth it to be only tied down for a year.

Its 10 months into a 1 year or has that changed?

Im definately doing the one year if I can. I was thinking of waiting for the Bionic, but I'll just go with the TB and hopefully HTC will have the Qualcomm MSM8960 in something by then. 1.5GHz dual core and integrated 3G/LTE.. It's gotta find its way into a VZW phone sometime.

Figure about a year should put me at a good spot for dual core tech.

So for me, the $249 is pushing it. Not monetarily, but value for the buck. Especially considering there were rumors flying around for $299. Over $300 for a 1 year, I dunno. This phone has to be all it's cracked up to be and more. And especially the battery life.

Sold my X and got the new iPhone. Costs me $50 out of pocket. My contract is up in one month. I only do one year. If that gets eliminated, I'll be doing the sell one buy one deal, no contract.

Yep 10 months.. As for the early upgrade thing. I got mine pushed up from April 14 to Feb 24th.. When I thought it was gonna be out..

how did you accomplish that i wonder...i've asked 2 different csr's and been shot down. they both said they were told not to give anyone an early upgrade on this phone. my annual upgrade would have been right around mid april as well.

If it is possible to get a one-year contract, can you just renew it at the end of the year, get a new phone, and stay with the unlimited 4G? Or will you get stuck having to sign up for tiered data?

I am thinking that you're going to buy an extended battery whether you like it or not. If the specs are true, this phone is equipped with only 13% more battery power than a Blackberry 8800 of many, many years ago. While the iPhone seems to get a lot out of its battery, it too can seem short with a few hours of 3G usage. Imagine what 4G will do to this thing...

a guy in the forum with a thread called "caught in a thunderstorm" briefly described the battery in his 4g area and said it was fine. maybe the firmware update fixed it? 2cents
