Thunderbolt One Year Contract

just talked to a VZW rep on the phone for the last time b4 tomorrow- she said one yr option is great if u want to upgrade in a yr (which we all knew)- just the 70 extra bucks then you can choose whatever you want to do-- pretty simple but i was confused for a while.

all making sense--guess i am thunderstruck haha..--

one YR it is! done deal-

I was told by a VZW rep that I could use my NE2 credit and get a 1 year contract on the TB tomorrow.

This has probably been asked before, but can you also get the phone with a 1 year contract from Best Buy or just VZW?

Lucked out sooooo nicely. i was unaware of a business discount i had- i almost went to best buy but went to VZ. instead of 320 for a one yr contract, i used my business discount and got it for 260--- 10 bucks more for a YEAR less of restrictions..... could NOT be happier..... amazed!@@#@#

I got mine for 219.99 but wont get it in the mail till monday! What crap! I called the local VZW store, they said they couldn't give me the same deal in store? I don't buy why? O well, I also plugged in overnight shipping but..... They said it had to be 2 day because of my discount? I guess ill be hanging out with my Droid for a few more days!

I just ordered it online for $229 for 1 yr (happy dance)!! I also got 2 day shipping and should be receiving it on Monday. At first it was giving me the 2 yr $199 at checkout after selecting the 1 yr option. I called cs and they didn't know why and that they couldn't do anything about it, but then I tried ordering it online again and got my 1 yr option to stick. I'm using my husbands upgrade since my NE2 is on 1/12. This way he can use my upgrade then or just wait another 2 months to use his upgrade again. It actually works out great!

Got mine for 249.00 for a 1year. It would have been 219.00 for a 2 year. Extremely happy so far

My cost for 1 year is $230

I don't get it... I just called VZN and I have a NE2 for a $100 credit. The cheapest I can get my phone with a 1 year contract is $319. I lose my $100 if I apply for a 1 year contract since it will not be applied towards a 2 year contract.

How are you guys getting your phones so cheap with a 1 year contract? I assume that you're going through VZN, right?

Is it possible I am running into a demographic cost/ratio pricing structure because of my area? I live in Portland Oregon.

Thanks,
Dennis

Ok so I called today to see what would have to pay to get this phone. I have an employee discount so I was wondering what the price would be after discount. My contract is not done till 9/11 so I need to early upgrade. They tell me that I can get the phone for $188 with a 2 year contract. I asked for the 1 year price and they say I can not do an early upgrade to a 1 year contract. The rep then tells me if I wait to Sept, I can get a $100 discount toward any phone on top of my employee discount. So now I have some thinking to do, not sure if I want to wait but definitely want a 1 year.

Thanks Chrizzl3... I wonder if the others are getting a similar discount that the rest of us do not get?

I'm just miffed since I lose my NE2 if I go to a 1 year contract.

I'm also curious how people got these great 1 year contract prices?? I just called VZW and was told on a 1 yr it would be 319 and I would relinquish my NE2 $50 credit. Did I just get a bad CS rep? I love my Incredible, but I really want the bigger screen and 4G now that it's available. Like I said I have a NE2 on my line and another upgrade on a family members line (they aren't going to use it) I'm debating on buying it on my line for 199 and having it for 2 years or using the other upgrade and paying the 319 for 1 year, but keeping my last NE2.

Can I get one from Amazon on a 1-year contract? I went to their website, but could not find an option to buy one on a 1-year contract.

Also, I will be shifting from AT&T to Verizon and want to retain my number. If I end up buying from Amazon, will they just sell me the phone ask me to get it activated from a Verizon store?

I'm really tempted to just buy this phone full retail. I get 20% discount from work, so that would make it $480...then subtract $250-ish for selling my Incredible...so roughly $230 (plus tax, of course) for the Thunderbolt! Hmm...

Alright... I have an update for those interested...

I called VZN today and talked to their Customer Care center. I talked with a lady that was very helpful...

Here is what I learned...

There will not be any more NE2 after this January... so those who have a credit balance of $50 or $100 in their account will not get future credits AFTER they use it for their next phone upgrade. Most of you already know this...

Now here is the biggie... This credit is good towards EITHER the 1 year or 2 year contracts. I had a VZN guy yesterday tell me my $100 credit was only good for a 2 year contract. Either he didn't know or was trying to navigate me to a 2 year contract. :(

This means that if I want a 1 year contract the phone will cost $319.99 but after I use my NE2 $100 credit, it will cost me only $219.99. Cool!!!

Also, I found that if I decide to add a "Total Equipment Insurance" it will cost me $6.99 extra a month for the insurance. May be different for you though... Not sure.

So, if you're getting a VZN agent telling you that you cannot use your NE2 credit on a 1 year plan, they are lying or do not know... so call again another time till you get an agent that is in the know or willing to work with you.

Also, be sure to get the person's name you talk to... this makes them accountable and will help give you a little edge while talking to them since you know their name.

If this is allowed, I think I will start another thread with this information concerning NE2 credits.

Hope this helps someone else.

Be careful with thinking you're going to sell your Inc for $250. I checked out craigslist and people were selling Inc's for 175 and EVO's for the same! Ebay had a TON of Inc's starting at $175 as well. I wana unload my Inc, but I don't want to get bent over either. IMO, $250 and up for a perfect condition Inc is more than reasonable. I'd rather sell in person so I'm going to stick with CL and hope I get lucky sooner rather than later.

My Inc is in perfect condition, plus it's rooted. Even if it sold for $200, I'd be happy. Paying $300 sure beats paying $600 full retail! :) I know you got your Inc the same time that I did so I understand your desire to upgrade now. I'm still debating, though. Not sure I want to spend $300 right now.

I just got my Inc at the end of October so I shouldn't be ready to upgrade, but I want a bigger screen and 4G now that it's available :)
