The Bionic just got pushed back, again. It's "likely" looking like a Q3 release at the earliest. Plus, who wants a phone that's locked down like Fort Knox? I certainly don't, and that's why HTC will always get my money.

I read an article re: Bionic being pushed back due to overheating- no release date given.
 
seems to me like all of the users who are saying they will wait for the bionic are the ones badmouthing the Thunderbolt for silly imperfections. I say for what it's worth, it's a damn good phone!

The ones waiting for the Bionic are the ones who always wait for the "next best thing' The TB is the best phone available right now and will be until the Sensation or E3D comes out
 
I'm not necessarily the type of geek who works his way towards the next best thing but the Tbolt was a huge step up from the OG Droid, that thing just got to slow to handle. However, with this hype over the release os sense 3.0 to select models I can only help keep that 'better phone' envy inside.

I was trying to hold out for the Bionic based on all of the complaints I read about the TB battery life. But when I found out that one year contracts were going away I decided to at least give it a try and then take it back before my 14 days were up if I didn't like it. Man I'm glad I did. I LOVE this phone. And I can't be more excited that I've found a work around (and hopefully a firmware update) that will alleviate the battery woes. I was honestly starting to get a little sad about the thought of taking it back. After only a week, you'd have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. ;)

+1 I know for a fact when i get mine(tomorrow), it wont be more than 1 foot away from me at all times.
 
Neither, the Thunderbolt is like the EVO, it is outdated, but at least it is hackable and is getting CM7, the Bionic is delayed, will be horribly locked down, and really isn't worth my time, overall I'd much rather see something like a well supported functional samsung fascinate with super amoled plus and exynos soc, or an LG phone with stock android like the G2x.

All electronic devices and gizmos are outdated by the time they reach us, the consumer.. But the T-Bolt being the best of the best right now, why not get it.. As has been said a million times if you sit around waiting for the newest and best tech to drop you will ALWAYS be waiting.. Because something newer and better is ALWAYS just around the corner..

Unless you got the coin to outright buy each new one that comes along on EVERY carrier, then WTH, i say go for it..lol ;)
 
Don't think I ever want to own another Moto device... last Moto device I ever owned was a Razr, and that turned me WAY off to Moto.

Been a mix of LG and Samsung phones since. Until, of course, my Dinc. And now my Tbolt. Om nom.
 
Interesting responses, however the only turn down i have about the thunderbolt is despite the claims at CES and major websites of it having a Super LCD screen, or a Super OLED or AMOLED screen, It ends up with a TFT display making hard to trace but still evident scan-lines running parallel with the screen, this effect shows up on high res photos or plain, static gray/white images such as the browser.
 
had the droidX, got the Tbolt. never looked back. moto will never get anymore of my money untill they get rid of the locked down bootloader
 
Given what has already been done to correct HTC's minor stupidity with the TB, how will Bionic users deal with Moto's mess if they can't stabilize 1850 mah of lithium?

HTC assigned idle power consumption management to a marsupial. We responded with setcpu. If the creator of the mobile phone, kept on life support by Verizon's marketing investment, buys the farm again, who's gonna make it all right? A locked down device is not the Vhu I want to see out my window.
 
I reserved the OG Droid when it was announced, and loved it. It was so much slower after a while than my wife's DINC. I was soooooo jealous of her ability to tap an icon and have an app launch, ready to use. Even though my OG was overclocked, it was really showing its age. After getting the TB, I feel like I have been brought out of the cave and into the light! Its soo fast and the screen is so much easier to read (who uses this as a phone anyway, right? ;)).

The Bionic appears to have issues, and appears to be a work in progress. I loved my OG Droid, but I do NOT want to deal with locked down bootloaders. If you are interested in running custom ROMS and kernals, you should consider the great group of Devs working on the TBolt. I rooted my phone as soon as I received it in the mail and had a custom ROM on it in 24 hours. Totally loving this phone.
 
I (and anybody here) was well aware the bionic is coming and has better hardware. Two reasons I could care less:

1. LAST generation HTC hardware is still perfectly acceptable to/for me (dinc, nexus, evo ect). With the bolt having an upgraded snapdragon being icing on the cake I saw no need to join the rat race for highest horsepower (if the dinc had 4g I would much prefer it due to pocketability). what if I waited for the Bionic only to now know shortly after the 1.2 dual core HTC smartphones are coming or hell wait for those to come and then samsung releases their further superior dual core phone. At this point in time your phone is going to be outdated soon after you get it regardless of what you wait for.

2. I'm a rooter, any smartphones not root friendly are automatically excluded. that pretty much excludes the bionic and high end LG smartphones. The 3 days I owned the Thunderbolt unrooted I felt cheated not being able to install my root only apps, flash and boot in recovery.
 
sounds to me like every new phone becomes outdated in a week. Once these 1.2 GHZ dual-core phones roll out the next best thing will be 1.5GHZ phones with anything from a 4.3" screen to a freaking projector. I hate phone envy but it is inevitable for many

I know i said when i got my Inc "Im gonna be happy for the next 2 years, no need to upgrade till then"...Once the Thunderbolt was announced i was like i need it. I almost held out till Bionic but as soon as i heard about the boot loader, i was like hell no. Plus the Inc is sexier and its made by HTC which is absolutely a superior company. Anyway, i can honestly say, i dont think i will need another phone for atleast a year if not more. All i really wanted over my Inc was the 4.3" screen and 4G. Well now i have it. There really isnt anything i could see that i would be envious. Dual core technology is not ready for Android, its useless right now until they optimize the OS. Plus its not like its 2 1ghz processors, its 2 that equal 1 or 1.2 ghz. So once they get Android ready for it, maybe ill be a little envious but thats really the only thing i can think of. 3D cameras on phones have a long way to go. It will be cool and all but i know its going to be a flop on the Evo 3D. I can see it coming. I will say its cool but definitely not something i need or really want. So with all that being said i can say i love this phone. I dont think its like the Evo in anyway honestly. Its better in every single way.
