Root [TIP] Quick Baseband Switching

Just thought I would put this out there for those of you that are not a fan of your current baseband and want to go to ej06, fa19, fe16 or vise versa without all the hassle of reflashing Roms, Kernels, Themes, or whatever.

If you want to switch just your baseband, all you need is:

-A version of Odin with the desired baseband that you want.

To Install Baseband:

-Put your phone into download mode
-Connect your phone to your pc
-Open up Odin and select one package
-Select Your Ops
-Select phone.tar
-Hit start

As soon as Odin says reset it is safe to unplug your phone from your pc and enjoy your new baseband.

I apologize for the ignorance, I am a newbie. I thought I was somewhat tech savy, I did manage to root my phone without any problems. OK, I so guess I need a step by step here. I want to change my band from FA19 to EJ06. I downloaded the SPMH820_EJ06-CWM-Rooted file. Extracted the files and this is where I get confused. I opened up odin. then I checked the box marked one package. So everything should be checked correct? One package, auto reboot, protect ops and reset time. then when I click on one package what file am I selecting to place in the one package slot? Then I click on ops and select the SPHM820.ops, and phone I select the .tar file. Sorry, I'm a little thick headed. I need a step by step, don't want to mess up my phone. Thanks in advance!!

No. Don't use the one package option.
Open Odin.
select ops (I'm ops box)
Select phone.tar (in phone box)
Press start.

Edit-i never read the op for this lol... I did it this way and it worked for me. :hmmmm:

Once you open Odin, select the dog-m820 ops, then next to one package select the ej06 phone.tar and then start. Once Odin reboots your phone you can unplug it and enjoy ej06

You said select ops, am I putting anything in the ops box, the SPHM820.ops? Or I am only putting the phone.tar in the phone box? sorry, still learning....

Either our will do, since you just need the phone.tar aka modem.

yes area plays a big role. you need to experiment and try different things that will work for your area, or find someone close by and use what they use.

Looking for safe FE16 to use.

The FE16 located at:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/375550-odin-return-phone-stock-factory.html

both of them are removed for violations?

I'd like to have a copy.. lost my backup to a bad HDD on my other laptop.

I like how my phone is now, except a few things recently have gone wrong.

About 2 weeks ago I was driving in Las Vegas and using GPS with an active data connection. I started having the phone freeze up every 4-5 minutes (which sucks for using GPS when you really don't know the streets)

Previously, 187MoD-HoneyBread6 worked flawlessly and GPS would run all the way to the end of my routes...

I did not add any apps or make any tweaks... I noticed that I lost my GB Keyboard, even if I select it it never appears for use.

Also, my lock screen has magically changed to a three way slider, though I sometimes also see my normal slide lock.

Data speeds are still excellent, so I want to flash to another setup, likely CTMod since giving up tethering and camera seems like a huge step backwards. (though I would rather not have Maxthon for many reasons)

I currently enjoy the Firefox nightlies, which seems the only way to have Firefox for us Prevail users.

Up until things went wrong I was very happy with all 187Mod had to offer, and everything just working as expected.

I am seeing CTMod removed navigation... I'd use Navit, but for me it is horrible at finding local addresses in Las Vegas unless I enter the full zip code... Even using google maps and passing the address rarely works, even for businesses...

Hopefully I can get back to 187Mod and have everything working again.

I spoke too soon on Firefox nightlies.... all it get today is a grey screen which eventually closes and has no menu access.

I will try removing it and reinstalling first.

I was wondering how it works, but I don't get "copy to link location" when I right click on the post #.......... :(
