[TIP] Slow web scrolling FIXED! Update Flash Player!

i dont get it. do i have to be rooted to install this? i downloaded it no prob but it said the phone forbids installing anything thats not from the app market. wtf??

my phone browser scrolling is horrendously laggy. so annoyed. i miss 2.1 :(

settings >applications >check ununknown sources

I tried to install the updated flash .apk but I get an error:

Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS]

so it sounds like I cannot overwrite the flash player that is on the Incredible now. The uninstall button is greyed out for Flash Player 10.1 in the application settings page.

Anyone have any ideas??

That is exactly what we are all doing.
Check to see what version you currently have and let us know.

Ok. Figured it out. Was running the 72 version prior to the update. I put the .apk on my SD card...then opened it using Astro File Manager. It asked if I wanted to update, clicked yes and it installed the new version fine.

So lesson learned for this .apk...cannot install from the computer using ADB/SDK.

P.s. the browser scrolling is now very quick and some of the flash sites I had checked before seem to load even a little bit faster now with the update.

Anyone using Appbrain my have noticed an update for Flash, but haven't been able to download it...well after installing the above apk I see that the update is gone...looks like this is the same update.

Edit: please consider moving this back to the main page and sticky it. I think this may turn out to be very helpful and it might get missed in the "All Things Root"

Awesome Justin!
Glad it worked out.

anybody else better with this but not 100% like me???

I have the 72 version. Wonder if the newer one fixes the slow as hell audio on cnet.

I just did the update and tried the cnet video... I thought it was joke, sounds like it's slowed down by 800%. Rebooting phone now to see if it makes a difference.

Nope, same thing. Also checking out other parts of m.flash.com same thing.

How do I check which version I have? I can't even find Flash on my phone...

Forget it, found it...sorry bout that...

I was on engadget's site and tried to watch a video. It started to do the slow audio again but in the middle of me watching it I "tabbed out" to reply to a text message. When I "tabbed" back over the audio was fine! I am baffled.

Other sites seem to be ok as far as the audio, although lots of buffering. I'm using 3G I'll have to see what it's like on wifi later on.

How exactly do you download and update this?

There are a few ways of doing it,

downloading: click on the link provided earlier in this thread, posted by warwick.
2nd. after downloading to your computer, ON YOUR PHONE, click Menu>Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging
plug your phone in to your computer, Mount as a disk drive and drag and drop the apk in to your SD Card folder.
after that, safely eject your phone from the computer, then open a File Manager (Astro works great) and click on the apk, it will install from there.

OR
if you have an application such as HomePipe (i use this constantly), you can just download it on to your computer, open the homepipe app up on your phone, and download it to your phone from your computer, click on the apk and it will install.

as stated earlier in this thread, MAKE SURE YOU ALLOW FOR UNKNOWN SOURCES TO INSTALL, or you wont get the install to work. for that option Menu>Settings>Applications>Unknown Sources (make sure it is checked.)

hope that helps, and if you need any further help feel free to post it in here or PM one of us guides or the mods directly.

I was able to install the .apk by using my phones stock browser and navigating to the link provided earlier. Download the file, which should show the status in the notification bar, and once complete just install by clicking on the downloaded file.

How come there is an update but it is not available via the market or appbrain? I understand you can update it via the .apk but if there is an update out there shoudn't it be available for all?

Is it possible the udpate isn't verified for the Incredible?

I will let you know in a sec. I just installed apk.

I have been having laggy issues since OTA but what really ticks me off is the problems with my.yahoo.com. I is almost impossible to nav. When in overview mode you cant scroll at all after it completely loads. I have to pinch just a bit before it lets me scroll. WTF?

Well, it fixed the log in screen issue. But it still locks up and wont let me scroll unless I pinch out just a bit.

Any one else have this issue?

I am going to move this back onto the main forum temporarily to get a better consensus as to what the verdict is of this trick. It worked for me however it seems like some people are still having issues.

I will then move it back here and the discussion can be continued under this subforum.

With Froyo, how do I get access to my SD card? All I get now is the verizon mobile popup when I plug in my phone.
