weather sounds like a system app. is it in red? if so, do not try and restore that. it could either create issues with your rom or it might have difficulty installing.

Ok. I know it's a Sunday afternoon and everybody has a life but I've got to get my phone functioning again!...

I have had TB since day one of root. I have tried several times to follow their instructions on how to restore apps/data once a new ROM has been flashed. The instructions are pretty clearcut. The problem is, I cannot seem to get it to work for me...

I had to reboot the phone to STOP the process within TB as there wasn't a setting that allowed me to stop it within the app (unless I missed it!)...

I have NEVER had a ROM flashing event that went smooth with regard to the HUGE time investment I had to commit to getting all my apps and settings back to how I want them (or, how they were prior to my flashing). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated..:)

i hear your frustration. believe me. with tb if anything instead of doing on elarge batch, do them in shorter ones. just make sure that you are not installing or backing up system apps and their data. and just to stop tb if it stalls out, you can go to settings>apps>and then stop tb (not sure on cm9, but it should be around there).

Oh Thanks man!...

I'm confused by the instructions on TB's User Guide Website...here is a cut/paste from their guide:

  • If you just formatted your SD card, don’t forget to copy the “TitaniumBackup” folder (and possibly your license) back from your PC.
  • Download Titanium Backup from Market
  • If you intend to restore system data (eg: MMS/SMS) from a different phone/ROM, enable the “System data migration” option now.
  • Click the Backup/Restore tab
  • Click Menu (the button), Batch
  • Click “Restore all missing apps + system data
  • Reboot your phone
  • It’s done ! The only thing you may have to adjust is usually your wallpaper/widgets.

Am I simply NOT understanding the instructions? I did everything as stated above!:confused::(

(We have to leave for a while this afternoon but will definitely be back to this later..) Thanks again!

ok the only issue i have is the sytem apps part. i have tried that and it does not work. so if the app is in red in tb then that is a system app. do not restore it or even back it up. i only back all user apps myself. not system apps.

Ok, I will do as you have stated from this point forward!..

Wonder if the devs at TB know this is an issue?... or is it just on certain phones?...who knows..

Well, thanks ocn for your help!

2 things

First take this and ditch it. Never restore system apps nor their data. It's just bad computing all away around. Taking Data From and AOSP rom and Mixing it with a Sense ROM is like trying to take apple programs and put them on windows. just doesnt work.

Second How much internal Memory do you have left? The only time TB gives me issues is when I do not have enough space to restore the things I choose (really wish they would check the amount of ROM versus the amount of stuff I'm trying to install.) Smaller backups can help but if its a Space issue with internal memory it will give you the issue again. Are you using DT's a2sd (NOT THE APPS2SD IN THE MARKET) What size partition are you giving yourself for it.

Thanks argedion for your reply..

First of all I'm not sure I follow the reasoning you present in the first paragraph - perhaps you can help me! I wiped the data, cache, dalvik cache, and sd-ext three times before doing the Superwipe which as you know wipes three times as well. So, even if I had a sense rom before the current aosp (and I didn't), I guess I'm wondering how I could/would be mixing dissimilar data? But, as I've said many times before, I ain't no dev! Just a simple hack that likes the freedom and challenges having a rooted phone provides!

As for memory:

  • Internal = 262MB/448MB
  • SD Card = 10.3GB/14.1GB
  • SD Card (a2sd) = 1.72GB/1.91GB
As for as partition sizes, can you help me find that info? Not sure where to look...:o

Looks to me like you have plenty of internal memory left.
I think what argedon means, is to not restore system apps/data, just pitch that idea. Don't even do it. Dont even back them up.
Looks like you other partitions are good also.
I usually restore user apps only, no data but thats just me.
Doesn't take me long to reconfigure an app to my liking anyway.
Can I assume when you say, 262MB/448MB, it means 262 MB free out of 448 MB?
I think so.:)
Also, sense roms and AOSP roms's data for a particular system app is probably different. Don't mix em.
I guess bottom line is dont mess with system apps and system data.
Cheers friend!:D

Yessir, that's perzactly what I mean (referring to the FREE space vs USED-UP space :D)...

Now, my next hurdle getting it fully functioning is to get a voicemail system that is easy to use!! Suggestions??? :)

Oh yeah..!

Man, I can't remember you pointing me to a Mikmik site!!! Anyways, I prolly didn't go there simply cuz I'm on a non-sense kick! I like the AOSP ROMs...for some reason :)

I DID go to the Team D.I.R.T. CM9 site to get the scoop on the ROM I was using. Re-flashed it..

"CM" = CyanogenMod, "v" = version...see that's not THAT corn-fuzing now :D:smokingsomb:
