Tmobile-MetroPCS Merger Updates & Questions

I don't think there is any way to tell if what your asking will be possible yet. That kind of info will come after the fact I think.

Just curious but why would you get a phone from T mobile but want Metro's service? Unless T mobile doesn't have service in your area which can be likely being that their map is smaller than others.

He means if metro doesnt have the same phones as tmobile after merger can he just bring a tmobile phone over to the metro side.
 
@ G0lden yes i want to keep my unlimited plan of 50 dollars with metropcs, but i want to get a better phone. Tmobiles unlimited plan is 70 and if i get a phone it would be 90 a month. With metro it would be 50 plus 20 for the phone each month it would be 70.

@ Gman9831 you are also correct.. If metro doesn't get the good phones like tmobile then that's why i want to know if i could do this..

@ THE W, yes i want to keep my same plan, but get a better phone from tmobile.

I guess I can understand why, with today's ability to instantly put in stock trades...

Law boys lips were sealed. You'll know it when it's announced. Even if the vote stays 4/12 it may be the 12th may be the 13th may be who knows I ain't sayin' %$#&.

If I were in Dallas, hell, I'd just buy a share of stock. That'd get me in the door.
It'd cost more to go see a movie. :D And they won't even have Milk Duds.

Lol. I loved the one about the Apple maps fiasco; Hitler wanted to invade somewhere and Apple had changed their mapping software with the iPhone 5 do they couldn't get there. :)
 
This will be interesting, My wife has a lg esteem on the $40 unlimited everything plan, grandfathered in from when lte was new. I have a t mobile $30 100 min unlimited everything else plan.
currently (at our house) my t mobile speeds are twice or more as fast as metro's and that is only on hspa+ 42 I can get 12mbs down but only about 1.6 up her esteem gets 4-5mbs down but 4-5 up.
I would also like to get her a new phone the esteem is just so dated, updates are non-existent really and its hardware is practically obsolete.
I would love to get her a nexus 4 or 5 if they are out by then. I have the nexus 4 and its very nice. and cheap too.

oh thought I would add here at the moment t mobile does not have lte in my city but if metro does go gsm the nexus 4 will do lte that would be very cool.

unless your wife really wants faster speeds she should keep her $40 unlimited all plan and upgrade to one of the better midgrade metro LTE phones.

i'd recommend the Lg spirit as it's light years ahead of the esteem, has a slightly bigger screen, and is getting dev support(if you need it) with a couple custom ROMs in the works.

We are not going to change plans, we want the cheaper plan we have, and speed wise what I am hoping, as has been mentioned when the merger happens and the metro lte is combined with t-mobiles spectrum that metro lte speeds will increase.

I looked at the spirit, and really liked it, love that its dev supported as well one major drawback of the esteem roms for it are "wip" and for my wife thats not good.
But dont want to spend money on a cdma phone if metro will get gsm+lte soon.
besides that my wife gets attached to things, she would rather keep her phone until its completely worn out, or it breaks. Hmmm might be a broken esteem in our future:p
No we can wait a year or so before getting another phone if it means it will work better and she can keep it for several more years.

That's what's gonna happen it'll be the same network as tmobile LTE.

The phone at least has Voice over LTE.

"The biggest problem has been the capital structure and a considerable lack of transparency", said Doug Polley, chief investment officer of rebel investor PSAM during a presentation to other MetroPCS shareholders on Thursday.


"Voting down the proposed deal, even without a revised offer from DT (Deutsche Telekom) or another buyer surfacing, still yields superior value to PCS shareholders", PSAM told shareholders during the presentation.


and a rumor that a better offer could be on the way.

Two unknown analysis
"The most important change that shareholders will look for is a reduction of the $21 billion in debt that the combined company is expected to have on its books, including $15 billion in inter-company senior secured debt."


"They should just cut the debt by about $6 billion," said New Street analyst Jonathan Chaplin. Macquarie analyst Kevin Smithen said that a debt reduction of $3 billion to $4 billion could salvage the deal for T-Mobile USA.
 
They also detailed some large bonuses Metro execs stand to get on completion of the merger along with them being able to liquidate a lot of their stock.
They implied Metro is using Voodoo Accounting to make things look favorable. They had numbers that appeared to back this up.

I was impressed that often, PSM was stating they were using Metro's own $ figures in their arguments.

Too little per share, too much debt and way too high interest On that dept.

I was fairly impressed towards their position though I'm no bidness xpert. :D

I've mentioned two other points in other threads.

It also raised an eyebrow with me that Metro's CEO recently unloaded a ton of stock. That singing the Mothership's tune, doesn't make sense. If Everyone is coming out roses with the merger, wouldn't you want to hang on to the stock?

Also this could explain why Metro has submitted the Metro S4 to the FCC. They've realized the merger isn't going to happen anytime soon til more dealing happens.

Right now, I'd actually be Surprised if it passes on the first vote.

I'm sure metro's upcoming s4 could have hspa within maybe not listed in specs due to merger pending approval that or it could be just a simple software update who knows I do think the merger will go through regardless just my two cents

I dont think they would add the hspa radio for 2 reasons
1. they would need a sim slot for it and while they may be able to piggyback on the lte sim it just doesnt seem feasible.
and 2. In order to use the radio it has to go through fcc and if they dont specify that it dont pass, look at the nexus 4 as a great example it actually does have band 4 lte but it never went through fcc as lte capable so they are not able to use it, granted people have found a way to use it but the legality of it is a grey area.
They could send a update to the phone OTA and activate it but they would have to run it back through fcc first.
 
Quick question. If you were a metro shareholder but not customer would you vote yes? As a subscriber I would vote yes. But shareholder why would I?
 
That is it exactly, the benefit to the subscriber is easy to see, but to the shareholder not so much, if the stock became t mobile stock it might make sense because with that extra bandwith, and customer base the company could get bigger and worth more.
 
With things looking as unfavorable for Metro stockholders as it looks now, IMO, they'd almost be Nuts TO approve it On The First Vote.

I think it's almost a foregone conclusion that Sooner or Later the merger Will happen mainly because there is no one else besides Metro that fits a merger with TMo that would do it. (and vice versa) There is No other choice. (And both staying separate companies Isn't Really an option.)

There lying the Main reason to grab the Germans by their short hairs. :D
