I think it's almost a foregone conclusion that Sooner or Later the merger Will happen mainly because there is no one else besides Metro that fits a merger with TMo that would do it. (and vice versa) There is No other choice. (And both staying separate companies Isn't Really an option.)

There lying the Main reason to grab the Germans by their short hairs. :D

This really does make me sad:(
I really wanted to get my wife a nexus 4 or really any unlocked phone, and see what it would do, plus I wanted to put the sim in my nexus and see what the lte would be like.
 
I've been playing pretty close attention to this whole deal and the whole time it's had a peculiar odor to it.

I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was though.

But I finally did.

This "merger" is reminding me of the Mercedes/Chrysler debacle. Where Chrysler basically woke up from Dreamland afterwards saying, "What in the hell have we done, we basically Gave Away our company!"

I still thinking it'll happen, T-Mo is just going to have to Pump Up The Jams a bit first. ;)

Chrysler was a disaster they almost took Mercedes out of business lol if anything Mercedes was hurting with this deal i see both companies getting benefits out of it

Have you seen tmob's new commercial? That ish is pretty funny.

They are making all the right moves though.

I personally thought it was funny that the Verizon ceo came out and said "if our customers say they don't want contacts, we'll consider it". Bwahahahaha

Like I said, contacts are gonna slowly be weeded out. Your either sheltered, stupid or just rich if your still on contract at this point. Lok
 
The big dogs have called a special stockholder meeting Friday (8 damn AM).

Metro has outlined that the deal would bring better 4G (duh) phones and all including the S4 (which we are getting anyway -- anyone know when, got some money coming along soon and wannnnnnnt it) plus several others like the iPhone on LTE

4.06 a share is meh, but it sounds like Metro really wants to get this done and over with like if we don't we're screwed type tone. 26% equity in the combined company and if the deal is readjusted the next possible equity is in the upper teens from what I gather

Innaressin news from TMoNews.

Some shareholders won't be at the meeting Friday. They will vote by mail or on-line. TMo is monitoring the real time count As The Ballots Come In.

Suspicion is TMo will indeed Pump up da Jams with a new offer. And, Real Soon.

Perhaps even The Most innaressin is they say here that IF a new offer is presented they'll likely Postpone the meeting Two More Weeks to give the investors time to review the New offer.

(Toltcha that's why a Metro S4 went to the FCC :p )

TMoNews, responding on his Faceplant page to me asking how he thinks the vote will go Now, reports that BOTH of the 2 largest oppositions to the initial offering have come out In Favor of the Latest one.

Assuming that's his usual good quality intel it'd seem the merger will be A Done Deal in a couple weeks.

A Nexus 4 pushing 20-25 mbps with no dropped calls and good building penetration is what's working for me. I have contact friends that can't even get that. Hell, I got a buddy that works for Att and another that works for LG directly and even they envy that.

Albeit your location is what depends on your coverage quality.

But while I don't expect the world for the $40 a month I pay for unlimited everything, I do feel that whatever I "might" be lacking isn't worth the extra $60 on top of the current $40 I'm paying.

Point is, one way or another there is something it there that's more cost efficient than a contract. Too many mvno carriers and pre paid carriers to warrant paying $100+ a month and be contractually bound by the balls. That's all ;)

Despite the fact that the proposed merger of T-Mobile and MetroPCS has cleared all of the regulatory hurdles that've stood in its way, there's still been some uncertainty about the deal's fate due to some major opposition that has sprung up. The merger's odds of going through look like they're improving lately, though, and the latest indication of that is the fact that hedge fund Paulson & Co. has now come out in support of the deal.

Paulson & Co. came out against the proposed T-Mobile-MetroPCS merger earlier this year, claiming that it was unfair to MetroPCS shareholders and that the combined T-Metro would have too much debt at too high an interest rate to effectively compete in the U.S. wireless market. As MetroPCS's largest shareholder, the hedge fund's opinion carried quite a bit of weight.

Fast-forward to two days ago, and T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom has sweetened its offer for MetroPCS, reducing the amount of the loan that DT would be owed and lowering the interest rate on that loan. That move has caused Paulson & Co. to change its stance on the merger. The hedge fund now says that although it still needs to look over the revised proxy statement before making a final decision, it "intends to vote for the merger as restructured."
 
At least the DoJ is looking out for us smaller carriers even though they'll probably try to block most of the further mergers. In reference to what mike said yesterday also.

WASHINGTON- AT&T & Verizon shouldn't be allowed to box out smaller carriers from picking up some of the nation's prime airwaves, the DoJ told regulators Friday. As Americans become increasingly dependent on smartphones & mobile Internet, the FCC is planning to auction some of the airspace used by TV's to wireless companies. Those particular airwaves are in the lower frequency range & are ideal for transmitting data longer distances in rural areas or through walls. A key issue now is which companies will be permitted to buy such valuable property. AT&T & Verizon currently own much of the beachfront airspace. The 2 smaller national wireless carriers, Sprint & Tmobile USA, argue they should get a leg up in acquiring these airwaves or larger companies should at least be required to sell some of their holdings. The DoJ appeared to side with the smaller carriers Friday in its filing with the FCC. It suggested the FCC should craft rules so that Sprint & T-Mobile have an advantage in picking up the new airwaves. Since the 2 smaller national carriers have "virtually" no low-frequency spectrum, "this results in the 2 smaller nationwide carriers having a somewhat diminished ability to compete, particularly in rural areas," the DoJs filing said. The FCC, it added, "can potentially improve the competitive landscape by preventing the leading carriers from foreclosing their rivals from access to low-frequency spectrum. "The DoJ is absolutely right," Sprint's VP of government affairs, L. Krevor, said . "Ensuring that all carriers, large & small, have access to low-band spectrum would improve competition & benefit consumers." A Verizon spokesman declined to comment. Reps for AT&T & T-Mobile didn't immediately respond to requests for comment Friday afternoon. AT&T & some lawmakers have argued that blocking AT&T & Verizon from fully participating in the auction would bring in less money for the federal treasury. One goal of the auction is paying for a national public-safety broadband network. The FCC expects to set rules for its spectrum auction within the next year. The agency also has so far been skittish about barring anyone from participating in the auction. The DoJ cautioned the commission against allowing larger carriers from using their bidding power to block rivals from winning spectrum. "In a highly concentrated industry with large margins between the price & incremental cost of existing wireless broadband services, the value of keeping spectrum out of competitors' hands could be very high," the DoJ filing said. The department showed its concern about over-concentration in 2011, when it filed suit to block AT&T's proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA. The two firms later abandoned the deal. Meantime, the DoJ appeared to caution against any further consolidation in the U.S. wireless market. Some speculate that after Sprint No. 3 carrier, wins expected approval of its acquisition by Softbank it could attempt a future deal with T-Mobile No. 4 carrier.The Department has found that the 4 carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint & T-Mobile) compete across many dimensions," the DoJ filing said. It added later, "The Department believes it is essential to maintain vigilance against any lessening of the intensity of competitive forces."
 
Yes sir those are good news I hope the evil empire with all their money don't try to mess things up for prepaid carriers I know they are offering more still not enough but they are feeling the heat from prepaid carriers
