Root Too late for MIUI Gingerbread?

Banner Remover for cm7B5 miui on data ext - Android Forums

Download banner remover zip and install in cwm and that takes that away

Thank you for answering the best you could for what you thought i was asking. :beerglass: What i was curious about was if this phone will actually roam. Just because it says it is doesn't mean it is. I read before that the phone wont roam but I changed the settings to roam and they appeared to work for me. Roaming indicator was off now it's on when selected. I was just thinking that if it does then that is a nice feature to have. :D

Yeah, I I thought that's what you meant after I posted. I'm about a hundred miles away from where I could test that. I definitely checked the box too when I saw that. :-). Couldn't hurt right? A side note I'm getting great data rates with this rom.

And another side note, I downloaded a app called real signal that puts a signal strength in left side of notification bar. I set it to learn and a while later It was working.(didn't fix the original) I deleted the app cause I don't want it running all the time. Just thought I'd mention it.

So I've tried about every music player i can find and my phone still reboots itself whenever music is playing and the screen is off anyone else is experiencing this?

Sorry man I wish I could help but I am using CT 3.6 at the moment. I will be back. This is a very nice rom.

Yes you have definitely found something. Just tested it. Mine didn't crash, but I couldn't get the lock screen to work after waking it. It kept on playing and moved to the next song. Volume worked but couldn't get any response for the screen. Neat lock screen while playing music. Looks like you can pause or move back or to the next screen without having to unlock.

I was using winamp

Update: I went into themes app. Downloaded and applied moto blur v2.0. Now it all works. :-)

Be careful applying these themes. I made a backup before downloading and trying them earlier. On some the lock screen resolution doesn't work for ours and I had to restore to cwm and restore. The way around is to go into your lock settings and check the wake from lock to include pressing the menu. Just in case.

But yay. Got it working with a new theme

I can confirm the soft reboot after wake while playing music. I'm convinced it has to do with music visualization wallpapers.apk

The music player crashes when trying to access it and the lockscreen does too (the reason changing the theme worked is because you switched to one without lockscreen music controls/visualizations) also when using milocker you get no lockscreen while music is playing (i assume, because it crashes too) going to look more into it tomorrow.

Edit- tried visualizationwallpapers.apk from previous build and from a couple different roms. And nothing. the lock screen still crashes when mucic is playing.

I found that if you double tap the unlock bar, it brings the controls up, and everything is fine... Until you press play, then it locks up and reboots.

Also miui gallery is nice looking but won't interact with apps correctly, it won't let me select a wallpaper correctly. It just goes back to the list, without changing the wallpaper.
Also when i removed gallery3d.apk, (trying to force the miuigallery to be default) tapatalk fc'd when i tried to upload a image (because i 'had no galley') i installed quick pic and tapatalk worked but only showed quick pic, i reinstalled gallery3d.apk (always back up system apps before i delete them :) ) And it showed both quick pic and gallery, but no miuigallery. Same with most my other apps that access the gallery, the miui one doesn't show up as an option.

Anyone know how to recover from using a theme with HDPI lockscreen? On a side note how can I tell BEFORE I try a lockscreen what type it is?

I was trying out some themes and got carried away, not so sure about how to go about unlocking the phone now.

Another thing. Is is just my phone or do themes get this small black "box" on the top left corner. Its on every theme that I've tried.

Things are looking good here...

Advanced restore /system or make a backup, reflash the ROM, and advanced restore /sdext (unless restoring data restores theme, then a factory reset should do it)

Edit-theme

Guess I coulda mentioned in the event you do load a hdpi lockscreen just hold the back & volume + key and it will unlock phone for you ;)

Edit: might help if I include the correct instructions

Thanks for the tip. I was starting to get adventurous before I read the manual! :musicus:
Good to know I can be adventurous again without getting into too much trouble.

Just wanted to confirm switching to motoblur lockscreen (or any theme with that type) is definitely a workaround to playing music. Does not cause reboots.

@tivofool- thanks :)

So my wife now has service on the prevail which is good news for testing bad news for actually getting a hold of the dag nabbed thing to test. She's already complaining about two reboots while trying to make calls and the lockscreen music issue haha. Keep the bugs rolling in guys.

New bug, when uninstalling large apps via the trashcan on the workspace, I'm getting a soft reboot. the app uninstalls, but boots to the boot ani

I reinstalled this rom and going great. I updated w/ adreno driver and banner remover and change the theme around a lot, but always keep the motoblur lockscreen. No other changes besides using swapper 2 from the market

After making backups I have uninstalled the music player, miui gallery, with no side effects.

Best performance benchmarks for my phone yet I think.

over 60 apps installed

Is it a concern to have the system rom so full?

321bdb90-b5a2-06a1.jpg
how did you get it so full? and yes having just about no wiggle room might not be good. can't remember what i did on like 3.4 to free it up was pretty simple when i remember how will let you know and someone will be me to it.

Should I be using something like s2e? I'm used to being on ctmod ssm where I have 3 partitions and it takes care of everything automatically.

the phone expects system to be 'read-only' so it's not a real concern. if you want to lean it out you can move some apps to data and get rid of things like bootanimation and ringtones.
that is what i think i did was just go through and clean up everything, apps and all that and it freed up some???
