Transfer to Ting

Has anyone ever successfully transferred a Motorola Triumph to Ting? I know you're not supposed to be able to, says specifically in the FAQ that Virgin Mobile phones are not allowed, but has anyone tried it? Maybe a loophole exists?

This would be unwise as the best reasond I could come up with it that I already had the phone.

What you would need to do is border line illeagle.

I switched myself and have a couple of suggestions. PM me as I think that they would be inapproriate to post here.

I contacted the Ting guys on facebook, for now you can only transfer phone in their white list. ( see Ting website for detail). I am going to buy a used phone on Ting website and get service with them. Looks like their customer service is good, rates are very reasonable. Here is the $25 savings link which can be used if you guys want to get Ting or want to purchase phones on their website: https://zlpmkk1ql04.ting.com/.

I've looked at Ting recently because Virgin Mobile reception in my house (major city) and where I go on weekends is very unreliable (have to walk 1/2 to a clear field for any reception there in Wisconsin).

Can anyone who's made the change from Virgin to Ting say if they ended up with better reception? I've checked the coverage maps, and they were identical, so I'm not sure if the maps are really that accurate per provider or if they use the same network.

ting (like vm) uses Sprint, so data coverage should be the same. They apparently allow voice roaming on Verizon, so you may get better voice coverage, but I expect that results would vary by location.

Ting and Virgin both use Sprint, so in areas with Sprint coverage reception will be similar.

But Ting gives you free voice roaming on Verizon... Virgin doesn't have any roaming. With Ting I've been in areas without Sprint towers and have always had reception while a few friends with Virgin had none. So you will have greater coverage going with Ting.com.

Gave up on my VM Triumph and made the switch the Ting. I will remember it fondly. That said, my old VM Triumph in my home gave useless voice coverage, barely received texts, and data didn't work at all. We need to keep in mind our beloved Triumph phones have single band radios and can only talk in the 1900MHz band, which is now even more crowded due to LTE taking up so much room.

the phone I purchased off ebay was the HTC EVO 4G LTE, with odd results. Voice coverage is better, but still struggles depending on where I am at home. Texts are much better, though not perfect. But data is LTE and works perfectly everywhere I go in my house (8 mbps down!)...what the heck? Why don't voice and texts go over the LTE connection since that works so much better?

Although it is still Sprint. When I leave town and it drops back to 3G, we're right back to the ever frustrating "I have two bars, why does it take over a minute to download directions!?!?"
