Root Trying to find a keyboard..

I know this is somewhat silly posting a thread for this, but I'm not sure how else to find it. I saw a keyboard a few days back (should have dl'ed it then) that allowed for complete custom coloring and the webpage had screenshots of many different customizations.. the thing that set this apart in my memory from other keyboards was the screenshots with TEAM LOGOS on the space bar.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? I've searched this forum and xda for way too long, so much thanks if anyone is able to find/remember this keyboard based on my excellent description haha :cool:
 
yes..give me a moment to find the webpage. I tried it and couldn't get them to work on my phone but it was a neat idea
 
I've tried several times and different ways to install this keyboard, but it's not installing on my EVO. I have the Warm TwoPointTwo ROM which already includes jones' v27 keyboard, just has the colors changed around. So this should work fine..

When I install the custom keyboard apk I designed on the website through a file manager (tried Astro and Root Explorer), it simply starts to install and stops, saying "Not Installed."

I know you said yours wouldn't work as well, but do you have any ideas why it won't even install?? Thank you!
 
Ok, I appreciate it. I've been reading that thread up and down sporadically over the past few hours and can't find any help for this particular problem, but gimpsta did respond to my post..unfortunately didn't work for me. :/
 
Great, thank you. I tried older versions as well and still wouldn't install. I'm sure someone with more than four days experience on a rooted phone can figure it out :)
 
I have never been able to figure it out lol.

been messing with it for a bit and still a no go.
 
got it!
installed it, rebooted,
went to menu.settings.language and keyboards and check marked htc_ime_mod to make it active

then long press in a text field and select input method and there it was

haha looks sweet, great resemblance. The first step you listed is still the problem for me.. "installed it" lol. I'm running warm 2.2, what rom are you using?
 
Any idea how to uninstall the previous htcime mod? Won't allow me to.

and what did you do to get your sms like that? as in the iphone-ish text threading display
 
first step is to select another keyboard. then hit menu,settings,applications,manage application. and look for "HTC_IME mod" and it should uninstall:)
 
^ this ....or hit the apk you just dloaded and press apk manager then follow the prompts till it shows uninstall. Press uninstall. Repeat to install. You can't have more than one so the phone doesn't distinguish the difference. It just sees it as one app htc ime mod

if more clarification is needed just let me know.

have used it since june and absolutely love it. I either have it set on hero, or iphone 4 can't remember. very customizable. I originally dloaded it for the simple ability to assign an sms ringtone to each contact and found it is capable of so much more!!!!
 
So I've been trying both methods the past two days and still nothing :/ Switched to android keyboard or swype and try to uninstall but the option is always grayed out. Tried to run apk thru ROM Manager and when I hit uninstall it instantly pops up saying Unsuccessful, like it doesn't even try. Also tried deleting in system/app and didnt work.

Wtf?! Myn is with me for life.. lol
 
UPDATE! Got it! :)

Gimpsta helped out on the xda thread linked above.. still wouldn't uninstall, but was able to delete through Root Explorer by switching to Read/Write. Rebooted and it was gone, install worked fine after that. Thank you guys for your time and help!

I used handsent before and didn't like it much, but maybe I'll give it another shot.. I do want the conversation to look like that.
 
ok...try this

make your keyboard
dload your keyboard
open your dloads file via astro or estrongs
press on the keyboard file
it should ask view or open apk manager
open apk manager
it should pop up with the install/uninstall screen
it will show uninstall, press that
now go back to dloads folder and repeat those steps
it should show install this time, install it
now go to menu.settings.lang and keyboards and make sure htc_ime is checked as an active keyboard
long press in any text field to get the input method selection, select it

While you're checking this thread, how do I add a signature? I read that the minimum posts required is 25, does the option not show up till then in User CP? Otherwise, I can't find it lol
 
Installed handcent, you're right, pretty good amount of customizing available! Is the best option with the stock message app just to turn off incoming message notifications or is there a better way to make sure it's not being used? (already made handcent default message app)
