Help Trying to learn(maybe a dumb question) BUT!

Can the X be set-up like the Dinc on its home and other screens. like beautiful widgets, clock, weather and so forth? as i watch all the reviews they all seem to be set up the same.

just trying to figure out what exactly HTC Sense does that the x cant.
 
There are no dumb questions... There is nothing that Sense does that the X can't. You can customize the X however you want. In fact you can do more with the x like re size the widgets....
 
The only thing that Sense can basically do that the X can't are some very, very select widgets because they're HTC widgets that I assume aren't available on the X... like the bookmarks widget.
 
The exchange i just had at the VZ corp store was mind boggling at best.:(

her- blank stare

me- i have a Dinc that i have till the 17th to return because the battery is pretty bad and was wondering about the X
her- wondering what

me- well about its battery
her- well it will be just as bad

me- you sure
her yes

me- well do you have any X in the back that i can look at real quick-
her- yes but you cant see them till the 15th-

me- ok thanks-
her- blank stare......

mind you at no time was i ever not polite. she just seemed un-helpful in any way.
 
maybe she was tired lol... any who. love the Dinc... but do want to see the X... that said i only have 2 days after launch:(
 
You can purchase widgets that look "like" sense ui widgets, the market. The program's called "beautiful widgets", fyi.
 
Okay, real noob question - what exactly is the difference between a widget and an app? Proprietary vs. open source or third party? Already installed vs. have to download?

Good questions:

Widget is something that "does something" on your home screen. It does something more than just open an app. For example a weather "widget" tells you the temperature and forcast. A news "widget" flashes up current titles to stories and changes with the changing stories. In icon just takes you to the app. I hope that helps.

Propriety v. open source: Apple has their own operating system for all their systems: phones, ipad, itouch, computers, etc. You can't arrange things your way and you have to use applications they approve. Open source (android) means that you are free to basically arrange it they way you want to and d/l what you want. (I prefer that way) :)

Already installed v. have to d/l: already installed means that if I have an htc phone, htc, samsung, verizon or motorola installed it already and I may or may not be able to get rid of it without gaining adminstrator access (rooting).

Having to download means that it is an application that either is free or I have to pay for that I have to get from the android market.

It does, thanks! I got to play with one today for the first time, and can't wait to own one. It'll be my first smart phone, so I've been trying to learn as much as possible and this forum is a great asset. I'm sure I'll have more questions once it arrives!
