TSA Fullbody Scanners

Are these new? I fly thru Florida a lot and never been subjected to one...

I do typically get "randomly" searched tho.

I have seen them before, but I don't remember where. To me, they're basically like scanners for perverts. They completely invade your privacy. The TSA agent can basically what you've got, whether it be male or female.

Sadly the TSA doesn't train or screen their people well... And you can't complain about their actions because some TSA folks will lie through their teeth to defend their actions. I had a friend who worked for the TSA for a number of years. She quit her job because she simply couldn't handle the way TSA did things...

They are newER and slowly being rolled out. First to get them was/is the gates for international flights to and from high drug trafficking areas.

First, I think the TSA is under trained, unprofessional and ill-equipped to perform the task they are responsible for. They can be rude and very obnoxious!

That said, this entire story is mostly a lie guys!

1. The person on line in front her went through the scanner first.
2. 12 other people were scanned (9 men and 3 women) during her "ordeal"
3. She was NOT cuffed to the chair
4. She sat in that chair for about 10 minutes, not an hour.
5. For most of those ten minutes, she was alone with what appeared to be a sympathetic TSA agent who gave her paper towels to blow her nose and wipe her tears.
6. If her boarding pass was ripped up, it was not done on camera.
7. I know not important, but the guys interviewing her made it an issue...at least one other attractive women went by without being scanned.
8. It did not appear that anyone was screaming at her, but there was no audio so it is tough to tell.

I travel a lot for work and it is a shame because like everyone else, the story is NOT unbelievable to me. The TSA can be nasty, rude and uninformed about their responsibilities. What we do not need though are people "crying wolf" about incidents that are not reality because it diminishes the legitimate complaints.

my favorite part is when they need to turn your laptop on and rummage thru your documents.

Yeah good luck getting into my laptop. It's encrypted, and I 'd rather miss the flight then let someone on.
Ya I do the same, but it is just funny how they check thru your files. lol I am fine that they just turn it on to make sure its not a bomb.. and even if it was a bomb and they just flip it right on, if it was rigged then they just killed all the people in the lobby, a very counter productive system they have going.

Very true. If They even attempted to flip through my files I'd press charges.

I know I am a little late to the party, but I travel for work all the time and nobody has made me turn my laptop on (or any others that I have seen) in over 8 years.

It has happened to me twice in the last 6 months. Always during the "random" search. They seem to just turn it on to make sure it is a working laptop and not a bomb.. but it is a stupid process cause like I said earlier if it was a bomb they could have just activated it themselves... lol The last time the guy didn't seem to know what to do. He turned it on.. Opened the start menu, opened notepad, closed it, and shut down.

I guess they hope that when doing this someone freaks out and just runs... or that potential terrorists have left their plans and documents opened so when the computer gets turned on everything is right there for them..

You know what would be funny as hell is to have your laptop load a porn movie on startup at max volume hahahaha.

I did a quick search, and apparently the TSA released video that contradicts her story:

This Libertarian Radio Host Lied About TSA Harassment

IMHO, I still wouldn't go through one of those. I think that airport security is mostly security theater and seriously violates our civil liberties; but she shouldn't be blowing it out of proportion like that.

Her MO seems to be to attract attention to her self so I want to believe this is a lie....but I cannot see what happens in the second video after they escort her away from the scanner. In fact judging by the reactions from the passerby's it would seem that they are in enough shock to confirm the yelling at least at some points. I'm not sure we are getting enough evidence one way or the other but we know that she lied about who all went through the scanner and we know that the TSA has some really bad apples and we know that a lot of what cops do they do away from the camera....

I'm not persuaded one way or the other.
