Root TU Safe Update to 2.3.6

Thank you for the response. Just to reiterate, flashing stock recovery with odin will not affect the data on my phone, right? (Already backed it up via CWM just in case).

NOOOOOB NOOOB.... no im just kidding its ok we all where noobs once that's why we like to help others so they don't feel that way after all that's the point of this forum to help those who don't know.

If you use bads3ctors odin here http://androidforums.com/transform-...ing-return-stock-samsung-transform-ultra.html no your data wont be wiped.

P.S. don't get offended because im sure down the road you might be able to answer something i don't know.

OK so if I Odin back to stock and my cwm is gone how would I restore my data? I'm talking personal, like pics etc. Or would they still be in the SD card?

anything on the sd stays on the sd and after odining u can re do cwm the same way you did the first time i believe cwm saves to the sd and the sd stays untouched and if you are hesitant about flashing with the sd in just take it out while you flash odin

Everything on your sd card will be untouched... if you use Odin, be prepared to lose all your apps and data and information on your internal storage, but if you use one package and only do boot and system 1 at a time it will keep some apps and some data but you're gonna wanna do a factory reset or at least clear your dalvik cach anyways.

Oh OK so then again what if my mom does update her phone with cwm still in it? Will it cause a boot loop? As for the apps it doesn't matter.

just use bas3ctors odin kernel

Edit: flipen signature doesn't want to stick on the posts lol

Lol actually badsectors kernel was made by the person you were answering :-P

does anyone have a good fc29 kernel, it seems this one is missing a ramdisk

Pr, fc29 is the new kernel right? I havent gotten it yet on ota but if I get it soon I will try to dump it for you.. on the other hand andy made a zimage of the kernel from source that bobzhome used to edit I believe. Lemme know if this would help and I will dig up a link...

THIS IS FOR BOOST.

Hey guys, broke my phone earlier so I have the wrong info on it.

btw

never use another phones partition 11. I completely regret doing this.

That guy contains your MEID and shit, and I didn't have a backup. So new phone time.

Anywho,

UPDATE SCRIPT

To be released after I get my new phone

Odin files:
Technically you can update normally, then just flash my System.img if you so desire.
PREROOTED AND READY TO GO.
Follow odin thread for instructions on flashing
Boot.img(Kernel)
System.img(System)(Extract the tar from the zip)

Baseband Update:

Waiting on new phone so I can fully test this...

Sorry for the wait, and sorry there's not much at this time, but it's what I have to offer, if you flash system.img, you'll need to factory reset to clear the caches out, sorry.

Would really appreciate the donations :P going towards a new phone

Not trying sound like an duche but... would it be possible to have a one click root for the update? i understand that the bugs are still trying to get fixed but i really would like to not have to odin an image or cwm something just to get root. sorry :/. interdpth, you made it possible before we had cwm and figured this stuff out, is there going to be a new one click root?

Just an update.

The 2.3.6 update that is causing wifi and/or gps problems to a lot of the users out there is currently being worked on by Samsung. A Samsung tech just called me to talk about the issues I'm having with the new update and let me know they will be pushing yet another update once it has been fixed. When I receive another notification to update my phone, I'm going to try it and and see if that fixes the 2.3.6 wifi/gps problems we are experiencing, and if it's fixed, I'll let you guys know. I am currently back down to 2.3.4 so I can use my wifi. Hang in there guys!

So theres no point in updating then? I'll just stick to 2.3.4 with bobz kernel. The only thing i would want to get rid off is this update notification that keeps poping up in my phone.

I did it with CWM in hopes to find the Sprint update file, it fails and boots to CWM so then I rebooted. But today I found the file.

I started a thread called Found the update 2.3.6 file for Sprint users
Not sure how to link the post
