Root TWRP Backups 4.2.2 k2_cl(BoostMobile)

I didn't realize that about the init. D. Like I said in the other thread this stuff is kinda rainy day stuff for me (which is why I'm always asking questions from you guys about stuff you already know rather than applying my own elbow grease, thanks again) how about the crossbreeder folder? The link I referenced seemed to have an app as well as a flushable zip that did some system level enhancements. However there is a pic of a menu that I I don't have, so I'm not sure if the directory on my phone corresponds with this link or if it is a similarly named project. What I read in the link sounds great I just don't see that the improvements are functional on my device. A lot of this stuff is still over my head at the moment, so I really do appreciate your help and patience.

One last thing, the way that you layer out exactly what I should do to help with the backup is exactly my speed, and if there are more tasks that you can break down like that, I will tackle them as I get time. It's just a matter of me understanding what ya mean, not a lack of will to be helpful :)

im getting busy with life and like i said before i rather not reflash my phone just for one seeming broken apk i cant figure out.i wouldve figured it out by now but its tedious work and i got things on my hands atm than to deal with that.crossbreeder ive never personally used but if its a system enhancer i doubt youll see a change unless your not using pure performance nomore and even then im unsure on the compatibility.most things wont turn init.d on by default.it actually amazed russell when i first realised this and he said that init.d by default is not in this phone.theres other ways to activate it via app or a flashable but youd have to look that up.i still think pures the best tho

okay so for clarification: Crossbreeder is already there in your backup as well. /etc/Crossbreeder is where I found it at, and it certainly isnt a holdover from my previous rom. I did the factory reset and cache wipe (sometimes I forget but not this time)

if its there its prolly due to performance x since thats a big collection of various scripts from various developers.theres alot to it so im unsure but i dont think crossbreeder would be native so thats where it prolly came from

Maybe Im starting to see where the devs are coming from here. Im still working on the small task you gave me, but Im not there yet. I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be with more advanced tasks. Ill let you know when I break pandora because Ive finally got the v1 backupdownloaded... now I just gotta move to sd, wipe and flash... then presto, happy deleting until broken Pandora!

just stay away from the prism.thats your main launcher or everything breaks.issues not in the prism but that is your launcher on normal mode

umm.... oh? it stands to reason that the govt would be blatant and handicapping about their stuff. They would be like "here it is everyone! if you try to remove it your device will MELT! " Just checking I guess. Besides Rosie O is the only Rosie that matters right!? You guys remember the baseball movie! Now that was priceless ;) Thanks for clearing that up though EarlyMon and SirJuggalo.

BTW: I didnt read it to the end, did you guys ever convince the Battery Doctor guy ( I forget what sn he was using) that task killers are terrible? I do have some questions about mine (battery manager) if either one of you wouldnt mind taking a PM from me ?

As staff, I get a LOT of PMs. If there's a reason to not ask publicly, ok to try me but I'm far more responsive out here.

No government agencies are responsible for the launcher dependency.

Sense isn't just a pretty face, it's a derivative of Android that enhances the stock experience in a number of ways. Over the years, many HTC firsts have been adopted by Google and added in to stock Android - with many people believing that Google invents everything.

In other words, Sense is more than some apps added to Android in a tricky way - Sense is the operating system.

Depending on your generation of Sense, some Sense apps can be frozen or removed, some can't.

You are being data mined for either advertising or support issues by the Google, your carrier and your phone manufacturer - substitute Apple or Microsoft for Google if you use one of their phones. Without Ghostery added on to a browser, you're probably being tracked by over 60 ad services whether browsing from your phone or desktop.

If law enforcement wants to know about you or your phone, they will, regardless of how many trackers you try to uninstall.

There evidently was an NSA back door into Android but it's probably been closed since the wikileaks. Again - the NSA doesn't need into your phone to monitor anything, under law they monitor everything in the air and on the Internet, as occasionally constrained by other governmental oversight.

Nothing in Sense is part of a government conspiracy.

It's really off-topic here, let this post be the final word here and bridge to there.

The original guy in the task killer thread - http://androidforums.com/threads/pu...k-killers-ram-optimizers-and-the-like.896663/ - never did come back but it's gone on to helping others as one of our most-read threads in a short time.

Read to the end to discover that one of the biggest cleaners got that way by using malware to trick people into installing their garbage. :D :(

I had thought sense was just a launcher, thanks for the info. And when I can get the govt to follow their own rules and live by the laws they expect us to live by, then ill worry about device safety. I just assume that if they want to look at my junk then they will. Doesnt mean its legal, or that I have to like it though! Thanks for the links :)

Tried twice. With the version 1 backup but it failed both times (one from the Pc and the other from the phone here) is there something wrong with the backup? As I type this I have thought to question whether I can flash anything.... If I don't post back saying the problem is with my recovery, then it's either the file or the download, bit like I said I downloaded it twice already :)

the files fine.you load it like a backup tho.the term flashing tech isnt involved here.you use twrp to restore.please dont try to flash this as a zip.ty.the instructions state this if you read lol

Uhhhh, i knew that and was just checking to see uf you knew! Seriously though i dint kniw what i was thinking. i realky did know that. I must just be flash happy. Sorry to give such a silly problem. I know you already helped somone else in this thread with the same problem. How embarrasing! Pandira shiukd be broken in no time though. All ive found so far is that removing anything with "sense" or "htc" in the name makes sense stop working. :)

not if you replace with go launcher some things yes not all like prism and htcsync and stuff can be removed fine prism needs another launcher before you remove it though as it is the launcher.the list i have for debloated v2.go off that.if its on that list dont remove lol simple

but like i said if you remove prism have another launcher running to take its place beforehand otherwise you will have issues.

i can tell you though removing prism and stuff shouldnt be the culprit of the streaming issue as thats only a sense launcher

ps sorry ive been trying to juggle the forums, one guy blasting my profile, and others one on one on hangouts.i also work and enjoy a little leisure time but i get crammed lol trying to stay focused here tho

Okay so for my own clarity.... add Golauncher (or any other launcher ) and then I can safely remove everything with HTC in the title? Do I have to convert it to a system app first or is it enough that it is there? Here's what Ive done so far, I slimmed it in the same way I slimmed my own rom. Loaded my systemfile deleting app, then removed all keyboards except the english, removed everything that said "wallpaper" in it, then removed all google crap except the playstore and the play services. Next on the chopping block would have been the Sense stuff and the Htc stuff, but we already talked about that. After I get all that confirmed stable, then I will move on to your list. Doing all this with Pandora running of course. Still runs as of now, but Ive barely begun trimming. THanks again for the info, as I said I need the direction :)

Edit: So here's where I am at: Ive slimmed it down as much as I dare, and now that I check it against your list it looks similar. (Process was to slim and restart then check the important stuff, if it botted and everything worked.... i kept slimming, if not then back to the last backup) I kinda just used the "if you dont know what it is or cant guess then leave it there approach" I know of one that I did delete that I saw on your list of things not to delete (TetherGuard), and I see many on your that dont show up on my "deleter" app. Is there a specific directory where all this stuff is? But long story short is that Pandora still runs and You Tube is also streaming just fine. I see two ways for this to be: 1) I'm not anywhere near done and this will be more work than I thought ( kinda depends on what I find in the yet to be named directory that all this stuff is in) 2) Maybe you just need to start with version1 and reduce it down again (?) of course I havent added busybox or any of the other stuff yet either. I guess it may also be worth mentioning that I chose a different launcher also ( not sure if it matters probably not) I just am prejudiced against GoLauncher is all :)

you dont have to do the prism, thats your call.as im sure its not the culprit if you want to leave that in,thats you.if you do change it by default it should give you a prompt to make that your default launcher.for ease of mind if you know how to convert to a system app i would so you dont accidently delete it if you do remove prism

i dont think i touched most google stuff as touching google stuff can screw with the system at times, but anything thats a widget should be safe to delete.

I said to hell with most of the gapps. I guess i did leave more than just the playstore and the playservices , nut basically everything that was an app (g+ hangouts, newstand, blah, blah ,blah) went to the curb. Also from the edit above, I didnt even see anything that mentioned prism, but did delete the Sense stuff as well as added a new launcher.

To convert an app to a system app you just have to move the .apk right? I forget the exact lovation but its one of the "system" directories? or is that incorrect?

ANd I feel your pain on the time crunch. Im still trying to get my PC set up correctly. Had to reinstall because a bad OC trashed my OS. Talk about a time waste!

most root apps will have an option to move to system app.i think the google play version of lucky patcher will do that. cant mention the unofficial lucky patcher as its illigal but they did make a google friendly version.theres other apps too but that comes to mind if you want a safe way to do such.you just highlight the appp you want to make a system app itll have a dropdown menu and youll see in the tools section of app i beleive an option to convert to system

Good to know there are apps that will perform the function. I had poor luck with manually moving it. I read a tutorial from xda, but I must have botched a step or something. As i said previously, it was basically to move the apk into the right spot , so maybe I had the wrong place.

Im still paring down your first backup, and it keeps kicking no matter what I remove. Honestly if you have the time, I might try moving back to "stock" (by which I mean the version1 backup) and rebuild. if I can manage all the things you list in version 2 I will simply post a copy of my own backup, but I really do think you might have a better chance at a fine tuned and fully working version. Also, its just the streaming issue so who cares :) Im only chasing this down to increase my own knowledge. I might even be moving devices soon. My charge port is acting up so.... Im going to upgrade if I can. Depends on which device has to coolest roms for the cheapest hardware. Ive got a taste for great devices, but a small wallet!

your not going to find much better than htc ones honestly.they are good phones.the new one coming out in fact is beast but its prolly going to be 5-600 upon first release.if you get a decent tax refund hold on and go for it. and id rather not rebuild on my device as ive added more stuff to it that i may release as well as a v3 backup but not until we figure out what happened to the streaming issue.itd just be a pain for me to go backwards and rebuild all for one package file messing up the streaming on data.i think i made a list of v1 backup still somewhere.that would actually be more accurate as it was less debloated and broke.if i compared v1 with version 2 i could narrow it down more and then look at the full version whitch still has a working one,but like i said rebuilding from now i would lose some things.too much was added, what if i forget to add something i did before in v3 that made the functioning better, know what i mean.

edit:for some reason i thought i copied the v1 text file but seems it doesnt exist so ya scratch that

Isn't the v1 text file in the Op? I think I have it somewhere. If you can't find it I'll attach what I have.
I'm almost considering getting another SV, used ones are real cheap. There's an LG that's a few dollars more with a quad proc in it though, but there's not a whole lot of dev for it and LG has been hit an miss anyways I'd rather stick with HTc as far as quality brand, but I think that new proc might overpower my loyalty :)

i think i removed it to add version 2 attachment lol and you want a good phone try getting an m8 or an m9 when they are older may take a few years but like this phone i got it for 80 bucks free shipping, brand new in box too.if you were to go thru boost they still have it at like 300 so you just gotta wait for the good deals sometime.or until tax refund if you can spare the cash for it.
