Hey, just want to say thanks for this post.

I spent two days down after wiping my OS, but I was determined not to ask for help. My phone is finally up thanks to the backup you posted — which, btw, is very close to the app configuration I was going for when I originally rooted my phone (love GO Launcher).

So, mad props for the work you put into the OS, and thanks!!
 
never tried that browser.when i made this i wanted it speedy and efficient,thats why i decided on the flash speed mods the go launcher and the dolphin browser.all top notch when it comes to quick.have not tried the orweb browser though.

i did want to add more and make a 3rd version update but as you can see the v2 has a data streaming crash issue.one of my flaws sadly.ive been trying to get others to find the culprit of whats missing so i can fix this one and only error.if you have wifi whitch imho streaming would be better on wifi for the cost of boost anyways the streaming issue doesnt happen,only on the data side does it crash
 
Just checking in quick with a couple questions: First the worst. I posted up an other thread in another device forum. It is basically about the differences between this device and the new device. 2nd is a little better. I rushed through this whole thread and I know I messed it, but what exactly is the list at the end of the OP? Is it where to stop deleting? or where to start? Because as I said, I made it there (give or take) with my root app and have had no streaming issues. I wanna solve this before I switch to my new device (both because I want to solve it and because Im hoping some of this stuff will carry over... they are very similar devices)
 
whats listed is what i had left after removing the rest.so that gives you an idea what not to remove at all
 
im also wondering if its as simple as just adding a video player.i think i got rid of the stock video player.i noticed i cant play videos in the camera O.o. unsure if its connected to the streaming issue.futhermore im suprised noones brought that up
 
Geeze I can't believe I missed that. I though I tested thoroughly. I guess camera just isn't on the list of functionality for me :) which makes it even worse because I would have assumed that it worked and then the once-a-decade camcorder action might be lost.
Adding a new video player doesn't make the difference on this advice. As I said I have it worked down to near your list, so the next thing I'm going to try is adding the Pure mods, and then the rest one by one. I don't know where to find the cpu script you were talking about, but I will see if I can find it. I'll also have to double check real quick if there are any other mods that are over my head. I'll let you guys know what happens
 
no replace with the video player that came on the original.it may have had an embedded streaming thing,unsure.

i was almost tempted to try myself but im swamped with my job and tired atm

i got the cpu script i think from the lg f6 forums.the cpu script is more or les the same on all devices all it does it tick the cpu not to sleep.the sysconf file i forget i think its in one of these threads here.its been awhile
 
Throttle mod doesnt work. Im using the v2 backup and just got throttled. Well actually I only got the you've been throttle text, now that I think of it... ill check into it more in the morning and get back to ya guys

Edit: Throttle mod is working fine. Also I checked out the video player issue and here is what Ive found. The backup that I trimmed everything down on (the one that is massively similar to your list and can stream Pandora/YouTube ) also is broken in the camera. Camer will take video but not play them. I havent tried making a backup of the stock video player apk and putting it back, but I do think this proves that the video player isnt the culprit. Also gives another bug to work on (personally I dont give a damn about the camera and camcorder, so its low on my priorities )

throttle mod is working for you?.that's odd and do you know how to get a copy of what's left on your phone.if streaming fixed on you end as you say I need to compare lists to see what you left in.the camera thing should be a video player issue but if you left video player in there it's something else.still this is progress
 
Throttle mod is working in version 2 I thought.... I ended up buying a larger data plan so the past few months have just been constant streaming anyway :) I wasn't streaming on my device of course, I was tethered but you get the idea. This month though I hit the limit and got the text notification, but i checked my speed the next day and it was unthrottled. Remember though v2 backup is my daily driver.
In v1 I still have Pandora and YouTube. I'll post a list of everything that's listed in my root deleter app. I you want a list from somewhere else, just let me know from where. I also haven't applied the Pure mods yet. I can vouch for the sysconf though as I was already using it . And as far as the cpu script goes.... I'm not so sure I believe in the effectiveness of those things. It would be nicer to be able to loosen the threshold of when the second Core kicks in. For example, sometimes too many tasks are trying to be jammed onto an over worked 1st Core while the second sits idle (I know...."that what governors are for") but opening up that second Core doesn't seem to make sure that it gets work, just that it's draining power. So in effect you still have one overworked Core and one idle, it's just that number2 is using power now. So what I would like to see is a load balancing script for the cpu(s). That's how it seems to me anyway. I'll post a list when I get a chance :)

If you want a complete list of all the system apps you have installed you can do this pretty easily with terminal emulator.

Open a terminal and say

Code: 
cd /system/app
ls *.apk > /storage/sdcard0/apps.txt

This will leave you with a text file on the root of your internal sdcard with the name of all of your system apps called apps.txt

That may be the most beautiful line of command I have seen today. I will be back shortly (relatively shortly anyway) with that list for ya. Im still down to get this figured out, but I had to move to my new device yesterday. The charge port finally gave out. The only way I can get juice to this thing is to put the battery in my new device ( the new one is a bit bigger, but that only translates to a wider battery, all other specs match). What this means for me helping here is that I have no service on the device, meaning I can only test on wifi. As if I wasnt moving like a turtle already!
 
ya well wifi doesnt seem to be the issue as streaming works fine on the wifi side lol
eh idk i was kinda hoping rusell wouldve been back with his project by now but its like it all went ghost idfk
 
I guess I haven't tried streaming get on WiFi. I never knew how much I would hate switching back and forth between versions. I've been busy figuring out how much I hate KK with the new device anyway :) I actually want to know what mrvone was planning on doing about the external SD problem. Purely as an intellectual matter of course. Problem had a workaround and now a custom kernel fixes it. I hadn't heard anything about it until I actually got the new device.

As far as what I promised... Still getting there. I just have to restore the v2 backup and compare the lists side by side. I'll get a list of the differences here for you by next year maybe. Seriously though, I haven't forgotten about ya. Especially because the new device is basically this one with a bigger screen and 2 more cores!
 
lol now you know what i went thru till i said f it. i could redo from scratch but without knowing what the problem was i may fix forget something useful or **** it up more.
 
Change log sure makes it sound more stable and we'll put together :) thanks! My device is still kinda alive and if I can get the comp to see it through the sloppy USB connection I'll give it a go.

What was the fix for the streaming issue anyway?
 
i dunno honestly lol one thing you removed and said it still worked crashed the streaming when i removed it.unsure why that is unless it has two parts and wont react if one or the others left in.its definitely stable tho apart from the couple things i mentioned but were bloatware and unnessecary.ill be adding from this build prolly as time goes on.ima wait a bit before i reset to this backup to add more tho,but as far as removing the bloatware i think i got it as safe as i want it without hiccups
 
im already thinking of switching the keyboard out with maybe slide it.has to be the free version of course.if you want to pay for it tho lot of extra options but itll at least gie you an idea as will most of these that have paid versions but still work decent even free.as far as the messages tho i also want to change that but unsure what i want to go with.kinda bored of hangouts and the normal stock messages are too dull.

btw on the visulizer i added,try the i like shrooms option in settings.it becomes trippier.enjoy and thanks for the support bro.i may get tied up at times but i am still here trying to think ahead for you guys.life does get hectic sometimes tho.

ps im not sure but if your computer can get a bluetooth or you can install a bluetooth dongle there might be a bluetooth option for transfering data wirelessly im sure.dongles arent that expensive if you need to get one.thats a solution for your usb issue
 
Is there a fix for the swapper mod cuz for my phone, it says sd card unavailable same with phone storage
 
Which swapped mod did you use? The one from oldsplatterhand ( sp?) has the fix right below the mod. Worst case scenario you might have to restore from a backup, and if you don't got one I recommend the Frosthax backups from elsewhere in this forum :) hope that helps

I am using the one that came with frosthax1's backup. I had the same issue with old.splatterhand's mod so i stopped using that one as well
