what do i need installed in my phone to flash cm6 z4root (rooted) ROM manager? CWM recovery ? i have a folder in my phone with all the stuff? what do i need on my computer im a liittle confused anyone care to help pls

i had to register to say thank you for the tutorial. installed CM6 to my acsend last night and now it runs like it should have.. this just made this cheap phone more worth it. :D

to anyone thinking of doing it, you will not be disappointed it only took less than 8 mins to have a totally better phone.

re-read the instructions on the first page of this thread, then let us know which step you are stuck on.
 
I am currently rooted with Icarus 1.1. What do I download to upgrade to one of the better ROMs? My Icarus runs great I was just curious to know what about the ROM makes them better or if the ROMs are better? And what is the difference between adw and zeam in the first post? I'm with Cricket
 
I'm assuming you have CWM 2.5.1.8:

1) BACK-UP your ICARUS 1.1 ROM

2) Go to the CM6 or CM7 thread & click on the PREPAID ANDROID WIKI LINK.

3) D/L the CM6/CM7 zip & GAPPS(+METROFF FOR CM7 IF APPLICABLE)

4) Install using CWM 2.5.1.8


As for ZEAM,ADW,LANUCHER PRO,GO LAUNCHER,etc........it's just a personal preference.I'd suggest experimenting w/the various launchers using your ICARUS 1.1 currently installed.

I formatted the sd-ext, not the entire sdcard (CWM 3.0.0.5)... figured if I wiped the entire card, I'd lose everything, was I correct?

Yeah,don't format the SDcard,especially if you don't have its contents backed up to your computer. Format everything but the card,then:


1)Install CM6/CM7 zip

2)Install GAPPS (+METROFF for METRO PCS USERS ONLY,if applicable)

That should be it & you'll be on your way to enjoying CYANOGENMOD!Welcome to the neighborhood!
 
CM7 - I see a post from Nuttmeg and an oops about doing the apn instead of MetrOFF, which is correct for CM7 5-21, I've read both answers based upon previous builds.

On the newest build you need to format the card. The whole card.

If you are using darktremor's a2sd you also need recreate the ext partition.

One of the first steps in the guide is to backup your SD to your PC.

Just backup icarus1.1 in cwm and flash one of the other roms.

Each rom is seperated by post. Follow the directions and don't forget to stop by.the wiki at prepaidandroid.org to see the update logs and check for any updates (just in case I'm a little behind).

Flash the metroff file. You can find it in an above post, the cm7 section of this guide or the cm7 page at the wiki----> prepaidandroid.org
 
hey guys i flashed my phone to cm6 and when i try to send texts that are around 2 or more pages long it wont send anyone know of a fix for that?

i normally keep all old builds and stuff but got rid of it about a week ago cause i figure no one needs it:confused: but i think Rain might have a copy, but i do have 0512 and 0507.

im looking for the one you can overclock to 748MHz i looked in that link it was mentoned as a file in the d/ld section but i couldnt identafy it

im sure you done it right might just be the phone itself, but them little things can cause big problems and headaches...

that could be ive already got cm6 and cm7 on it (2diff sd's) and they work fine putting the new build on actully fixed alot of the issues i had before but it would have ben nice to hit 748MHz mabye some other time i guess
