(Un)Official World Cup Thread

With the World Cup starting in less than a day, I thought we were in need of an official thread.

So who does everyone think is going to win? Who do you want to win?

Personally, I want USA and Ghana. If they get knocked out, it's all about the underdog.

I am thrilled for tomorrow, can't wait to watch South Africa vs. Mexico.

Day 1 results:

South Africa vs. Mexico 1-1
Uruguay vs. France 0-0

Day 2 results:

South Korea vs. Greece 2-0
Argentina vs. Nigeria 1-0
USA vs. England
 
Looking forward to it myself, hopefully it'll be a great event. Going to be supporting England as I think they do have a real chance this time but realistically I think it could be Spain or Argentina.

I'll be rooting for the USA (first) and the Netherlands (second).
 
I'm stuck in work so will have to settle for watching Uruguay v France tonight.

Looking forward to tomorrow though, England v USA should be a good. I think the USA have come a long way in football (soccer) so really looking forward to this one.

Well, they're not very similar. The World Cup is one of, if not the biggest sporting event in the world. The only thing close is the olympics.

Hell yea, that goal was phenomenal. Far post upper 90, nothing better than that. Great through ball too. Mexico did get robbed of a goal in the first half, though.
 
thats the thing with like the superbowl and world series arnt really world related.
the world cup and olympics do bring the world together and i love how its been in the office getting together

Must be, :D nothing wrong with that just found it funny, never heard anyone refer to it as that before. Aways known it as the 'top corner' or 'top bin'

I'll consider that a good tie for South Africa. That last attempt was a really tough shot. They should feel lucky that the ref botched that offsides call in the first half.

Ugh, whats with that awful buzzing sound from those trumpets. First I thought it was something wrong with the broadcasting but then found out its these stupid trumpets. Enough with it, totally idiotic to be playing them all game long.
 
Not a bad game so far, neither team seems to be outplaying the other but France shouldn't underestimate Forlan. All he needs is a view on goal and he's dangerous. Also I can't believe Henry is on the bench, he's to good to be sitting this one out.

I know! There's no excused really, him an Anelka with their pace would be unstoppable on the break. Only a mater of time, I think he'll be on by the hour mark?
