Root Unbrick/Unroot LG Optimus F7 (Boost Mobile)

is the flash tool still needed or just download the second one . cause i just managed to brick my phone by changing my buildprop with a stock one i got cause i installed pimp my rom and i wanted to remove it

If i could learn this i could tinker with my phone with no limits!! Could just plug it up n fix it if i needed :))

Thanks. I actually made an account to post this. I installed the root kernel and CWM to my LG870 with no problem. Then I decided to install JB-gapps from from RootzWiki because I wanted the News and Weather widget. Well that failed, the gapps overwrote something to do with Google Play Services and the phone went whack.

So then I try a factory reset and that screws even MORE stuff up. The reset would stop partway through and just leave the screen black and the home button glowing. If I turned off the phone 4 hours later, Android would be half-installed and stuff would crash every 10 seconds. I'm not sure why that happened.

So then I went for this, a flashed factory reset. I had to look around since one of the links was broken but I got all the files. It took me a couple tries to get into download mode, and the COM device wouldn't show up in Device Manager until I did. After that everything went smoothly. After the COM port showed up properly I unplugged the phone, set up the FlashTool so it was "Ready", then plugged in the phone and it went to work. It stopped at 89% while "Waiting for Reset" but the phone booted with the ROM fully functioning, so I canceled and it's fine.

But everything works now so who cares? Thanks for info. Time to re-root :smokingsomb:

The computer is coming up with a driver error when I put the phone into download mode. It keeps going in and out. My drivers are up-to-date.

does this basically factory reset this phone, and restores it to the way it was when you first got it?, like deleted bloatware and otherstuff?

This resets the phone back to day one. So it's as if the phone is being turn on for the very first time. All Sprint apps and bloatware will still be there.

i see, but i meant if you deleted some of the bloatware, and other files (stocks ones) and used this, would it reset back to stock, including the bloatware right? similar to a true stock rom?

I made a boo-boo and think I may have bricked my LG Optimus F7.

A little of my experience:
-Android devices rooted with help in this forum:
ZTE N9120 = Root, TWRP, Rapture Rom.
MID m805_892x_evm (china tablet) = SuperSU Pro Root only.
HTC Evo Design 4G = SuperSU Pro Root, CWM, Many Roms.
LG Optimus F7 = Almost LOL!
-Also Modded several Gaming Systems and GPS units with no problems I could
not figure out.

On the LG Optimus F7 I rooted with motochopper, then installed SuperSU over Superuser with NO issue. I then checked the "keep root through OTA" box in SuperSU settings. Then I OTA updated to ZV5... :( now the phone goes through "optimizing apps" and restarts endlessly. After clearing cache and factory resetting the phone im in the same loop.

All correct files for unbricking are in place.
- adt-bundle-windows-x86-20131030 installed with ALL ptatform tools installed.
- LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN310AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.10.1 drivers installed.
- LG Flash Tool v1.5.10.1120 installed to C:\LG\LGFlashTool.
a. MegaLock.dll copied over the one installed to C:\LG\LGFlashTool.
b. LG870_20130528_LGFLASHv151.dll copie to C:\LG\LGFlashTool.
c. LG870ZV4_06.tot copie to C:\LG\LGFlashTool.

Heres the steps I used in my Factory Reset attempt:

1. Put the phone in Recovery mode by:
a. Pulling and replacing the battery.
b. Holding "Volume Down", then holding "power" until Android Recovery started.
2. Pressed "Power" to confirm.
3. Pressed "Volume Down" and highlighted "wipe cache partition".
4. Pressed "Power" to confirm and got "Cache wipe complete".
5. Pressed "Volume Down" and highlighted "wipe data/factory reset".
6. Pressed "Power" to confirm.
7. Pressed "Volume Down" and highlighted "Yes -- delete all user data".
8. Pressed "Power" to confirm and got "Data wipe complete".
9. Highlited "reboot system now".
10. Pressed "Power" to confirm QUICKLY holding "Volume Up" then "Power"
until FACTORY HARD RESET started.
11. Pressed "Power" twice to confirm.

-The phone still goes through "Optimizing Apps" then restarsts over and over endlessly.

Heres the steps I used in my Unbricking attempt:

1. Put the phone in download mode by:
a. Pulling and replacing the battery.
b. Holding "Volume Up", then pluging in a trustworthy USB cable.
2. Opened LG Flash Tool.
3. Checked "Select Manual Mode".
4. In DLL pressed "..." and selected "LG870_20130528_LGFLASHv151.dll".
5. In S/W pressed "Add" and selected "LG870ZV4_06.tot".
6. Checked "USB" in Connection Type.
7. Pressed "OK".
8. Pressed "Port Setting" icon.
9. Made sure ONLY "Port 1" is checked.
10. Pressed "OK".
11. Opened up my computers "Device Manager".
12. Ticked "Ports (COM & LPT)" to see sub-menu.
13. Right-Clicked "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM1)" and selected "Properties".
14. Pressed "Port Settings" tab.
15. Pressed "Advanced".
16. Selected "COM41" in COM Port Number.
17. Pressed "OK" to close Advanced Options.
18. Pressed "OK" at "COM name is being used" prompt.
19. Pressed "OK" to close Properties.
20. Closed Device Manager.
21. Pressed the "Right Arrow" icon In LG Flash Tool.

-After a short time a window opens with "Failed PreviousLoad()".

-----------------------------

I did notice about every 30 seconds the "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM41)" disappears from Device Manager only for a moment and I hear windows sounds as it disappears and comes back.

?Am I doing something incorrectly??

?When in download mode is it still trying to start android and bootlooping in the background??

I can get files to the SD Card, And Factory Recovery sees the files when I select "apply update from external sdcard"

Also when selecting "apply update from ADB" it says:
now send the package you want to apply to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"...

Are any of these options I can use somehow?

I am a Fire/Security Specialist by trade and need the phone for work so any help is VERY appreciated :)

pull your battery boot into download mode again and start the flash tool but just select the tot and .dll file and hit the arrow buttom and wait.
