Root Unbrick/Unroot LG Optimus F7 (Boost Mobile)

You change the COM port yourself. If it's 8, you change it to like 1 or 41, I don't remember, it's been a while since I've had to do

Yeah, change the port number to 41 manually. The video will have to wait until tonight when there's less stuff going on.. Sorry for the delay.

Does anyone have a backup to the Firmware or lg870-flashtools.zip? Both links are dead and my optimus f7 is currently unbootable due to an amateur error I did :/

Ok, this phone does not unbrick the same way as most other LG phones will.

You will need:
Drivers installed- https://www.box.com/shared/32c5t7fj2w8xcwr0krjo
LG Firmware: www.oudhitsquad.com/android/LGE/Firmware/LG870/LG870ZV4_06.zip
LG Flash Tool (read the Readme!): Flash Tool Setup
LG DLL for LG Flash Tool: https://www.mediafire.com/?tnda5my51o6gq76 - thanks to rally 517 for sharing his copy

This has everything above in one zip file:

This guide is intended for windows users. There is no way to unbrick this phone unless you are on windows due to the software being used for flashing only made for windows.

  1. Put your LG in download mode:
While powered off, volume up + plug in USB (thanks sortoh85). Connect a trustworthy USB cable
  2. Open up LG Flash Tool
  3. Tick "Select Manual Mode"
  4. The DLL selected is called "LG870_20130528_LGFLASHv151.dll", find where you extracted that to
  5. Select Add, choose the tot file you downloaded.
  6. Press ok.
  7. Read instructions here on how to configure the COM Port and flash: LG Flash Tool - Free - no need B2B User/Pass - GSM-Forum

Why don't you use mega instead of these off-brand sites?

Thank you nice people, as I have restored my F7 successfully several times with this guide after it would get into bootloops, but I am now stuck. When I plug it in to download mode, the LGE COM 1 thing does not show under Ports in Device Manager. Ports don't show in Device manager either.

Just in case, I did read through other posts and I installed "the latest USB driver for this phone ... LGUnitedMobileDriver_S52MAN314AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.14.1.exe " (post #179). As my phone is bricked I don't think I can do the "USB Debugging & Unknown Sources" step 2 that is asked for in that post. Not sure if any of that matters.

I do not know what to do from here in order to get my phone working again. Thanks.

I saw your p.m. I've been extremely busy today. XP is a 32 bit system so the drivers would conflict as I'm almost positive the device uses 64 bit drivers. These tools are made for a PC that does have the capability to run 64 bit.

I love Windows XP i made a pile full of joy flashing phones to boost using XP as the tool required a 32 bit OS. Use a friend or family members PC. I'm more then willing to help you fix your device.

I downloaded the files from the original post from Sammyz. Tried on desktop with XP and laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. Screenshots will have to wait till the morning
