underwhelmed

So, ever since I read about the Note away back in September, I was dying for one. Finally got my hands on one a few weeks ago, and I've got to say, I'm very disappointed in it.

I installed a task killer/optimiser app on it, and with nothing but the default apps and services running, the memory usage is always around 80%.

I've tried several media players (mobo, vital, rock and a few others) and around every half an hour, the players crash. I know it's not an issue with the settings, or indeed the file, as I've tried the same files on my Acer a500.

At this time of night (00:25 here) I can't think of the other issues I've had with it.

I don't know whether I just have a faulty unit. I may take it back and swap it to check this out.

Anyone else suffering the same issues?

That's extremely odd, i typically use a live wallpaper, and a ton of widgets. Most of the time i sit at about 40% being used. I'm not quite sure why yours is so bad.

I've had my Note since Friday and generally its been runing well. Not getting dropped apps but memory is running around 80%

Uninstall the taskkiller. They are not needed since android 2.2 or higher. They do more damage than good now.

Root the phone and install titanium back up. Use it to uninstall programs hogging memory. Better to uninstall it than using a task killer to constantly kill it over and over again

Have you tried Dice Player? I have no problems with video playback using that.

In relation to the comments about Task Killers: not needed and generally only tend to cause problems.

I was going to say get rid of that ancient tech we call a task killer, but everyone else has already said so. Android itself is already good at managing itself at this point :)
