Root Unrevoked FOREVER

sorry if im nt understanding correctly, did u root 2.2? or u rooted 2.1 and then upgraded and ur phone still rooted?

You Cannot Root 2.2 and if your rooted in 2.1 and do the official update you loose root

The only way to be rooted in 2.2 is if your rooted in 2.1 and you Flash a Rooted 2.2 ROM

Once unrooted in 2.2 there is no current option available for root

Unrevoked Forever REQUIRES that you have a custom recovery. In other words, you need to be rooted already to apply this.

So just to clarify: unrevoked4(ever) is NOT A 2.2 exploit to obtain root. It only further jailbreaks existing rooted users.

This might be a dumb question... but since the S-OFF flag is very low level, if I run unrevoked forever then restore from a nandroid, will it remain S-OFF and I'm right where I am right now?

That's a good question.... easy to find out for yourself. Do a nandroid backup of your current state. Run unrevoked4. backup that state under a different name. Restore the old backup. Check S-ON/OFF.

I thought I'd make another clarification:

The classic full-root techniques have always given us the S-OFF flag. So unrevoked4 is just playing catch-up here. Still, this is good news because now we have multiple options to get phones fully rooted.

It's official my EVO is Rooted Forever.....The Waters are safe:cool:...NO Bricking

Ok tell me if these steps are right, im already rooted with unrevoked3/clockwork mod & super user
1. Back up ofcourse titanium & nand
2. Install unrevoked 4
3. Download ota threw phone? Or must I use recovery if so where can I get a stock htc froyo rom, I do not want a cooked rom I need everything to work as it should first, I will be ready for that later J
4. Enjoy rooted froyo?

After you unrevoke4, you can use your custom recovery image to flash a rooted 2.2 stock rom (2nd link in my sig). But I believe you can already do that with unrevoked3 and your current recovery. If you unrevoke4, you gain the ability to utilize custom kernels, which really un-nerf your phone without changing the stock UI. See my third sig link. The netarchy custom kernel is based on the new 2.2 kernel that HTC released a few days ago. It works flawlessly.

I dont think it works that way...i believe all Unrevoked forever does is give u the abilty to always flash rooted roms...it doesnt make all the ota's u accept automatically rooted...it jus gives u the ablity to always get back to a rooted state

Basicslly i should be able to download the unrooted ota install it..it wont be rooted but i can always use the bootloader to reflash clorkwork recovery and put on a rooted rom

Now if they can find a way to keep root status even when transtioning to a unrooted ota that would be real impressive but thats not what this tool does...It keeps the nand unlock permanent for the bootloader but u will loose root access in the OS

Novo, does this new kernel still limit the evo's camera to 3mp? Is the 30fps cap removed? I've applied the patch and backed up all my data, just trying to determine the right ROM for me.

Thanks!

i got it just reinstall super user! this rocks

I need a little help. I got my EVO to take the Unrevoked Forever and the update.zip has been applied. Now how do I do the OTA 2.2? When I try to apply the 2.2 OTA it errors out. Now that the Unrevoked Forever update.zip has been applied, do I just download and flash a stock 2.2 ROM?
