Root Update 4.2.2 on Rooted Nexus 4

leoknight

Lurker
I have my Nexus 4 bootloader unlocked and rooted using Nexus Root Toolkit, I am using stock rom JOP40D. When I try to update to 4.2.2, I just get an error (I really meant "error", no specific detail about it.) Do I have to unroot the phone first in order for the update to work, I try locking bootloader up but it didn't helped.

With an unlocked, rooted Nexus 4 and OTA Rootkeeper installed, all I had to do was to wait for Build JDQ39 to be pushed to my phone. It took several days after the release but went without any difficulty, preserving root for the second time OTA. WiFi connectivity will be advised on-screen during the push notification that you'll receive.

does anyone know how I can unlock the bootloader or root the 4.2.2 ? like a moron I updated immediately last night thinking I'd be able to root and unlock the bootloader.. is there a fix for me? I'm going crazy cause I want to install Xylo rom :\

Haven't looked into rooting 4.2.2 at all, but unlocking the bootloader is always the same on every Nexus regardless of software version.

Boot into Fastboot
Connect to computer
Type "fastboot oem unlock" into a cmd prompt

I just got my phone today, first thing it did was tell me 4.2.2 was available and nag to update.
I decided to go for it, as LTE is not yet in my area and from my understanding when it does there will either be a software update or I can go back to the 4.2.1 radio.
After the update I unlocked the bootloader then downloaded the su zip and the recovery image with the su.zip on the phone, internal sd card, and the recovery image in the adb/fastboot folder I booted into recovery and installed the su zip. then after rebooting into android I used the app to permanently flash the recovery image.

In-call audio (call connects but I can't hear anything in the ear piece) didn't work when flashing the .33 radio. Figured out it doesn't work on 100% stock 4.2.2 (for me anyway) so I ended up flashing CM10.1 and in-call audio works again. I'm probably gonna switch back to tmo prepaid eventually from ST. Not sure if I posted this somewhere in these Nexus 4 forums, caught a T-Mobile LTE test run here in Vegas.
