Update coming, but not 2.2

Ugh. Would rather not have the lights on all the time. Guess I'll have to wait until BLN behavior is hacked back into it, though I suppose without source that could be a while.

The softkey lights do not stay on. They are tied to your display timeout setting.

Meaning, if you have your display timeout set to 30 seconds, the softkeys will stay on for 30 seconds after the last screen input.

Example: You pull up a movie. The 30 seconds start from the last time you touch the screen. After 30 seconds, they go off.

I've tested this several different ways and it always goes off after 30 seconds (which is what I have my timeout set to).

You're looking for the zip?

Sorry, I accidentally hit the mod "edit" button on your post instead of "quote." :o

Anyway, I got a link to the jar and another one to the zip.

I'd like the zip, but the jar is ok too. ;)

So you weren't able to pull the zip?

For the first few hours of trying, I was getting "404" errors. Then the same address elicited an "oops, that address is no longer available at dropbox.com," along with a link to their home page.

I got nothing.

What's your nick in IRC?

I realize it's not literally "all the time". However, given that I'm almost always browsing with the screen, swyping on the screen, or flipping through ebook pages on the screen, it's EFFECTIVELY all the time.

I don't need lights at the bottom distracting me except as a notification.

I don't see you in #samsung-fascinate

I was in there a few hours ago and re-acquired the addresses for the file.

I used Clockworkmod to install it and I just finished configuring things. It does pretty much as I expected, after reading about it; the bottom keys stay lit, etc. I need that. ;) That was about the only "bug" in my Fascinate, having those go dark after such a short time.

"Screen Off," the app I used to lock the screen, would not fully function in this update, so I downloaded and intstalled a different app of the same name by a different dev and it works well, Launcher Pro Plus, Lekky's icons, etc.

So, as Sap said a while back, I'm a happy camper with this update. Everything is smooth as snot on a door knob. :)

That's good to hear!

Once I flashed the stock DJ05 kernel back over geeks stupid fast 1.2.3 kernel my haptic/vibrate/bluetooth is working again.

Testing for this update is scheduled to end on the 29th, so hopefully we'll hear something in regards to 2.2 soon. But with this update, I'm not as eager for it as I was before. The only thing really missing for me is flash, but that's why there's skyfire ;)

Did anyone notice they changed the market in this DJ05 version? There's the update all :D

yes, it seems they ve included the 2.2 market. i didnt notice at first because jt had been including the 2.2 market in his roms. good catch :)

Yep, that was another one of my little yearnings for 2.2. Update all is nice.

yeah i mean obviously we all want 2.2, but so much of what was needed from a 2.2 update is addressed in DJ05.

if we get aosp 2.1 i could live without 2.2 :)

This is a fine update. I had what turned out to be app-related issues, two of them: "Screen Off" (there are three apps by three different devs with that same name in Market, the functional one for me used to be by Konreu but it just would not turn the screen off totally after the DJ05 install, the one by LkwSoul was very wiggy, leaving the bottom lights on indefinately, the widget of the same name by Seltzer works great) and NoLed.

The solution for NoLed was to uninstall it then reinstall it.

Rebooted and everything is very nicely running.

I highly recommend this update, especially for those who are having other bugs listed on the release notes.

What is aosp? If I flash this leaked update will it be ok with the afor mentioned u1 and u2 issues?

Yea, I had to uninstall NoLED and reinstall it for it to work.

its definetly a great update :)

and remember if you come across it for the love of everything good, dont post it on a forum as per jts instructions.

ebay already has a fascinate listed with DJ05...i really hate person (whoever it is) who did that

bob my recommendation would be to stick with DI01 and get comfortable with it before flashing a new radio.

the update is great, but it can wait a bit if your not comfortable :)

Is verizon gonna release djo5 or is that still up in the air?

all signs point to a release...however several leaks for the htc incredible, droid eris on vzw never became official release (as well as the droid 1 i believe) and same on sprint with evo 4g.

i would tend to think this will come out, but theres no guarantee of course

Pretty much all VZW android phones have had leaks that never turned into OTAs. VZW has no problem rejecting updates.
