Root Update from ZVA to VV3 Or VV4

Does anyone have a backup of VV3 or VV4? If you have VV3 or VV4 can you check which baseband version u have? The reason I am asking is because a MetroPCS employee told me that most of the connect problems are caused by the 4G LTE radio. He said that the connect has signal problems and that's why the phone overheats and uses so much battery. He also told me that LG has been able to improve the connect signal through baseband upgrades. I just want to know if VV3 and VV4 uses the same baseband as ZVA. I'm having a lot of problems with my connect keeping a data connection and maybe if I upgrade to VV3 or VV4 it might improve things.

Here are the links To VV3 & VV4: http://androidforums.com/connect-4g...8-official-connect-ms840-ms840v-firmware.html

Update: I was able to go from ZVA to ZVV3 & 4 Using the KDZ updater found here: http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...rick-lg-motion-unroot-getting-1-5ghz-kdz.html

Thank You Sammyz For The Links!!!!

@Jgarcia

I'm interested in trying this out as well. If somebody could point me in the direction towards where I can find the .cab file for MS840VV4, I'd be more than happy to try it out. I read somewhere in the 840 forum that they had VV4 on theirs, being a MS840 and not the 840v model. ZV8, 9, and A are all TRASH that cannot keep a consistent data connection, overheat, lag out and I'm tired of modding, flashing kernels, patches and stuff.

I'll see if I can dig around some more.. I found source code for it, but that's useless to me :D Seriously, nothing could be any worse than ZVA and I'll try anything. Only problem with VV4 is that there is no root exploit for it, but I'm willing to live with that if it yields more performance than rooted ZVA. That's easy, my Optimus M performs better than this!! :D :D

I don't really care about root. I've used this phone for about a year and I've noticed that when I have good service the phone performs a lot smoother and I think is because it doesn't have to constantly look for a 4G signal. I know that ZV9 had a different baseband than ZVA. I think that baseband update was what probably improved the overheating that ZV8 and ZV9 had. The LG Viper 4G seems to suffer from the same issue. LG recently released and update for the Viper that's supposed to improve LTE network acquisition. Hopefully we can find someone with a backup.

Hey jgarcia the official 840 firmware thread just got updated with VV3 and VV4 firmware links, so refresh the ATR forum. Be sure to convey your thanks to sammyz for making this happen :D

I got two hours to go downloading it, I'll report back here in case anybody wants confirmation that it works, I guess. Hope this is better than ZVA :P

HEY JGARCIA, perhaps we should look a bit more into what we're about to do here. I have a photo and a post here in AF about VV* running on MS840, but who knows if this is really safe to do :D Just sayin... I'm at 75/300 MB of VV4 downloading, so I have a few minutes to decide on my Connect's fate LOL.... Hey Sammy if I brick this, think it can be salvaged? Do you think there is different hardware between the 840 and 840V phones?

According to LG is the same phone. I've bricked my phone a couple of times and have been able to recover it so I'm gonna try it anyways.

You will be able to flash back, but there's no way to know for sure if any radios will be screwed up or not. I once flashed Spirit firmware on my Motion, it booted to a garbage screen, and no touchscreen. When I reverted back to Motion firmware, my 4G radio was screwed. Went to a Corp store, they replaced it in 1 minute. No questions asked :D

Whether they will do the same for you, I doubt it if it is fairly old. If the Connect was less than a month old, I'm sure they would replace it.

I still have over an hour before it finishes downloading, so let us know if it works in case you get your hands on it before I do. Just so maybe Sammy can throw a little warning in the OP about flashing these :D

Hmmm..... You just gave me an idea for my Connect :D Well, only after I get a new 4G phone hahaha... and because I hate the Connect so much!

And Metro won't take it back, I've had my Connect for a while now

Complete success guys. New baseband and quickmemmo. No I'm going to flash vv4.

It seems smoother and haven't lost my 4G in like 30 Minutes which is a Big thing because I would loose 4G every 5 Minutes. VoLTE won't work unless ur in a VoLTE coverage area like Dallas Texas.
