Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Hi all.

In first, I tell you that I'm french, and it's a little difficult for me to understand some things, so I'm sorry if my questions have ever been answered and I'm sorry for my english...

I followed Dudeman's advice to install CM7 instead of CM6.1

I've done it without any problem. But, the same problem I've meet in 6.1 appears:

- My camera doesn't works: com.android.camera.

I tried to find something in the first post but... nothing (hard for me).

I tried to repair with Camerabuttonfix 1.5. But like it's written in the name of the folder, it's just for the button (I think...). I have "paste" the two files in the good directory but nothing changes.

Maybe I've missed something in this thread, but I don't know what.

Other problems:

- My computer can't see my phone: When I plug the USB pc/phone > Activate memory USB > a message appears > ok > then, nothing.

The only solution I've found is to use RecoveryMod (orange text).

- Android Market wasn't in: No problem, I've downloaded it and installed, it works very well.

So, my noob question: Can you give me a download link, or maybe a setting?

Thanks a lot.

So first of all which version are you using, the newer versions v1.8 (camera working), v1.9 (camera working but very buggy) v2.0M2 (not full version but camera also works pretty good). If you have a lower version try to flash one of these versions by the ClockworkMod Recovery.
This should be done by putting the zip file you downloaded from this link:
SwiftDroid – SwiftDroid Blog (choose the recovery one) and then boot your device in recovery. Choose the install zip from sd and select yes. Let it update takes about 5 mins and then let reboot, normally takes also about 5 mins on the CyanogenMod boot logo.

Now for the usb problem just download MyPhoneExplorer from the market and one for your computer from the following link:FJ Software Development. Then just turn on the app and the one on your pc and connect by usb/wifi/bluetooth.

Best of luck for your camera to work =)

Hi there, I'm running Swiftdroid 1.8 / CM7 by Mur4ik on my GT540 and all works fine. The stock 2Gb SDcard that came with the phone is a bit small for my liking so I got myself a Kingston 8Gb class 4 SDHC. Unfortunately this card does not seem to be recognized by the phone, the following are the symptoms:

1. When inserting card and booting phone, mostly it gets stuck at LG boot screen.

2. Sometimes it does boot but then doesn't mount the SDcard. After boot I get a notification like "unknown filesystem on SDcard" (or similar), and do you want to format the SDcard? Yet if I try to format it using the phone, it doesn't work.

3. Checking with adb shell and "mount" I see that the SDcard is not actually mounted.

4. The card is recognized fine on a computer via USB under both Windows and linux, and I can transfer files.

5. When manually partitioning the SDcard (gparted under Ubuntu) to only contain a 4Gb partition formatted with FAT16, then it works fine and is recognized (remaining 4Gb unused). Unfortunately FAT16 is 4Gb max, so I can't format the whole card in a single FAT16 partition. Also at that size FAT16 is very space wasteful (65k cluster size) so that even a tiny file takes minimum 65k space.

6. However, when formatting this SAME partition (i.e. 4Gb) as FAT32 it is not recognized and I get the same errors as above with the single 8Gb FAT32 partition.

7. I tried reformatting the card with SD Formatter 3.0 from Home - SD Association but it did not make a difference.

So it does not seem to be the card that's faulty. Has anyone else experience with using FAT32 formatted SDcards on Swiftdroid? From reading the forums this should be no problem and certainly the Linux kernel can recognize FAT32. Also there was a report of someone using a 32Gb SDHC with the GT540 although I'm not sure which firmware (stock or mod).

I haven't tried it with Stock LG 2.1 ROM but am very happy with Swiftdroid so don't want to go back to 2.1 just to get the SDcard working.

The GT540 has a problem with SDHC cards with a capacity of 8GB and above if they are less than Class 6. It seems to be some sort of low level issue. I tried a 16GB class 4 card in the past and got the same symptoms that you are getting.

I'm currently using a 16GB Class 6 card and it's had no problems at all on 2.1 and Swiftdroid 1.9/CM7.

New Update! :D :D :D This is Milestone 3... These are from Mur4ik's twitter:

-Updated CM 7.0.2 and some fixes with massive apps (Skype ... etc) Fastboot - This one has problem, Download the fixed version below

-And for recovery (unpack before update) Recovery

-Sorry, people. I have a little mistake with last update. boot.img with new kernel. so just reflash boot.img from M2 or wait a little.

-With recovery versions all fine.

-Here is fixed ver for fastboot: Fixed Fastboot

He just posted as I was checking in his Twitter account... :D

Do you have the recovery version uploaded there too? I'm trying to download both to upload to the blog and here, but it's gonna take another half an hour at these speeds? Also, is this the .zip with the boot.img fix?
Yep, the post above my other one
I'm using the recovery version myself with no problems at all so far.

Here's the .apk file, and here's the data. You need to extract the folder inside the .zip folder to /sdcard/Android/data. So the full path ends up being /sdcard/Android/data/com.ideaworks3d.thesims3

Just about to upgrade to v2 m3, have downloaded the fastboot files from the blog. I have a quick question though...

Are these the commands to use?

fastboot.exe -w

fastboot.exe erase system

fastboot.exe flash system system.img

fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img

fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img

fastboot.exe reboot

The OP states that the recovery line should be...

fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery_clockwork_3.0.1.3_swift.img

but there is only a recovery.img file in the download.

Thanks

That's right but for recovery you just type the name of the recovery.img file, so if the name was pop.img then you would type in fastboot flash recovery pop.img. You should just flash via recovery it's much easier.

Hi Gizmo001i,

Is there other link aside from this one?
Im not able to download the update it says I have to upgrade to premium account.

Thanks in advance.
Not that I know of. Have you scrolled down the page as the free option is towards the bottom of the page and is called slow download.

That's the one that I tried but every time I click Slow Download it gives me this error
Download Error

Free users may only download 1 file at a time.

I haven't download any from FileSonic today.

Anyways, i manage to download the file from Nirob's post.
