Hi, yes my phone is still in warranty, but if they see that I've modified the software of the phone, they'll repair it, I'll have the orignal settings and I'll pay for repairing because the phone is modified. If I have to pay, I prefer change my phone. . (Some one on a french forum said it's 65€ for a standard repair.)

I've been trying to restore my phone back to Android 2.1 using the instructions in the first post, since my SD card doesn't work on CM7 and i prefer the LG theme, the part where i use cmd and fastboot works fine, but when i press the volume down button and the power button at the LG logo, the phone doesn't go into download mode, but just loads CM7 as if i had just installed it, and if i try to install a 2.1 ROM using the KDZ updater from this point, the phone just goes into a boot loop..., maybe this is just because i might be getting the timing wrong for pressing the volume and power buttons...
Well i flashed CyanogenMod 7/SwiftDroid v2.0 M3 to my phone and i must say im very happy with it. It seems to run faster than the v1.8 i had before and thats without setcpu running, battery life seems better than before aswell, i do however miss the app google car home that isnt on the rom now and i am unable to see it in the market (using my phone, its there if i use my PC). Does anyone have a link to an apk file for google car home by any chance?

Hi, I've read through all the replies to the thread without any luck.
I've backed up all my data and I'm onto the Software update in the Flashboot section - I browsed for the new KDZ file (That was mentioned in like page 2) and it extracts it fine, but it says phone is not connected.
It's in USB debugging mode but the computer no longer recognises it? What should I do?

Hey, you have to flash the CM7 v2.03 if you want to get it working, as your problem is that you are with the rom of fastboot v2.1 and that doesn't work well. Try flash the CM7 it should solve the problem!!
Looks like M4 will be here soon. However to get it is going to take a full reset including store backup.
I guess that might be because he may have included data2system. But that is only a guess on my side lol.
I'm thinking of upgrading to 2.3 to overclock my phone, but I'm not sure if i should 'cause if I break it, I don't think my parents will trust me with a good phone. :\
I also have a Bluetooth headset that I use now and then, which isn't supported by CyanogenMod 7.

Mur4ik from 4pda.ru is working on porting CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.2 to the LG GT540, it's available to download although it's still in beta stage so there are a few bugs in it.
Here's the list from the site saying what works and doesn't (I'll update this list as he does):
*Please make sure you read the instructions properly!! People are replying to this post saying the problems they're having when the answer is that they didn't read the post properly. If you are having problems, then refer back to the instructions and make sure you followed the steps EXACTLY as they're written. Thanks!
Works:
FM-radio, wired headset, Wi-fi, Bluetouth, camera (video recording 3gp/m4v - it is mp4), 3D-accelerator, GPS, aGPS, sensors, memory card, touch .... well etc.
Does not work:
divx / xvid - codecs (use of the player), wireless headsets, modems, native means of distributing the internet through a tube(native wireless tethering).
Navitel not yet compatible with 2.3! (If navitel is navigation then it works fine!)
No calibration of the screen and do not ask when would be.

All Problems & Fixes:
* Performance may still be slightly lower than 2.2.1 (which generally do not affect use).
* Problems with guglapsami (eg voice-search) - the solution is to find and replace to correct the appropriate version - download Voice Search from the Market.
* Problems with memory cards, split into several sections - the output is not used ext2.
* If the card is not connected to a computer - to distort the cable does not work, you are unique, and the firmware is not for you.
* Problems with the battery - have someone normal, who is less who is better than the previous firmware - Out to sit on your preferred firmware.
* Native Android Wi-Fi tethering doesn't work - the solution is to use third-party software (Wireless Tether).
* Loudspeaker doesn't work for some.
* Problem with a decrease in volume after the first call, pick up that you can run music or sound settings move the slider sound multimedia solution:
settings-settings CyanogenMod-sound:
remove all ticks except:
"Note
Settings below apply only when the headphones are connected.
Always point play through the speaker
Notifications
Calls
Alarms "
after this volume does not fall
* Problems with applications, widgets, keyboard solved the transfer of their phone's memory. With the stick, not all working properly and it's not a bug firmware.
* There is a problem with zoom in the camera.
*The camera button doesn't take pictures in the native camera app - to fix this, download this file and extract the contents to your SD Card. Extract the two files and place in the sd card of the phone.
Open Root Explorer and Move the two files from the sd card to /system/usr/keylayout by long press the file and selecting move from the menu that appears then find the folder above and mount the folder as read/write and selecting paste at the bottom of the screen then long press the file again this time select permissions and change the permissions of both files to look like this.
User R W
Group R
Others R
Then reboot the phone.
(Thanks to thel2dab for this fix!)
*MomirPeh from xda-developers has uploaded a fix for laggy accelerometer output.
1. Download this file and copy it to your SD card
2. Open Root Explorer and copy the file
3. Go to /system/lib/hw and paste the file into there (If it doesn't work, tap 'Mount R/W' in the top right corner)

I have a 4GB MicroSDHC Class 4 memory card for the people who's memory cards aren't working. I'm not sure if any other class memory card will work, but I know 100% sure that a 4GB class 4 MicroSDHC card will work in the phone.
I've been using the ROM for about a day so far and have not had any problems with it so far, absolutely amazing stuff!
Make a backup of your 2.1 ROM before you update in case you want to go back to 2.1/you are having problems with 2.3. To do this, flash your phone with the fastboot ROM and install recovery via the instructions below, then go to recovery and make a backup of the current 2.1 ROM to restore back to if you have any problems
Make sure you follow the instructions exactly as they're written. As always, with flashing your phone, there's always the risk of bricking your phone. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone because of flashing custom firmware. But I will do my best to try and help you with any problems you might encounter
To install this ROM you need to have fastboot enabled on your phone. If you have Android 1.6/2.1 installed from LG, then fastboot is not enabled, if you have Android 2.2/CyanogenMod6 installed from my previous post then you have fastboot enabled so put your phone in fastboot mode (hold Camera on power up) when needed. I will explain how to enable fastboot on your phone (this involves re-flashing/replacing your currently installed firmware):
KDZ Updater Europe Open.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Europe Open)
Download the version that best applies to you, if you live in the UK, I'd recommend you download the Carphone Warehouse Unlocked version, whereas if you live in Europe, I'd recommend the Europe Open version (simple right? )
Now, how to flash these versions; I'll explain in detail how to flash the ROM's from starting with backing up.
Instructions to install ROM with Fastboot:
1. Before you start, make sure you backup all your data by installing the z4root.1.3.0.apk file onto your phone, then open it and choose 'Permanent Root'. Your phone will root and reboot. Then go to the Market and install 'MyBackup Root', open it and do a backup of your apps and personal data (contacts, sms, call log etc.) Once this is done, go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage>Unmount SD Card, a notification in the notification bar should appear saying 'SD Card safe to remove'. Remove the battery cover and remove the SD card and store it in a safe place. Then continue to step 2.
2. Extract the .zip file you downloaded to your computer (e.g. your desktop). Open the folder and install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi).
3. Once that has finished, install LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver1.0_All_Win7.exe which are the drivers so your computer will recognize your phone. Windows XP Users download this driver, extract the contents anywhere (e.g. desktop), right-click on the 'android_usb.inf' file and click 'Install'.
4. Next, open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
(i) Change 'Type' to '3GQCT' *THIS IS A MUST, THE UPDATE WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE AND YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE*
(ii) Make sure 'PhoneMode' is set to 'DIAG'
(iii) Browse for the 'V20B_00+Fastboot.kdz' file.
5. Prepare the phone by enabling USB Debugging by going to Settings>Applications>Development>Enable USB Debugging and connect the phone to the computer via USB cable and wait for the drivers to install for the phone.
6. Click 'Launch software update' and do not use your computer until the update is complete. The update will take roughly 10-20 mins to complete.
Instructions to install CyanogenMod:
If you already have SwiftDroid v1.5/v1.6/v1.7/v1.8 installed and you want to upgrade without loosing your data, follow these steps:
1. Download the recovery update from either here (MultiUpload) or here (MediaFire)
2. Copy the update to your SD Card (I recommend on the root of the SD Card (not in any folders)
3. Boot into recovery by holding the Home button on power up, or when rebooting the phone, select 'recovery' in the options list.
4. Make a backup of your current version just in case.
5. Navigate to 'apply zip from sdcard'>'choose zip from sdcard' then select the update-cm-7.0.0-GT540-MUR4IK-signed.zip file and flash it.
6. Enjoy!
I've created an automatic .exe file that will automatically install CyanogenMod to your phone with little effort on your part! The only instruction you need to do is connect the phone in fastboot mode, that's it! Download it from here (MediaFire) or here (MultiUpload)
For SwiftDroid v2.0, read this (not a full release, testing only)
However, if you prefer to install manually, here are the instructions:
Once the update is complete, your phone will reboot, what you need to do is power off the phone and whilst the phone is off, press and hold the 'Camera' button all the way and power on the phone, make sure you hold the 'Camera' button. The phone will display the LG logo and disappear, then display a blank screen. The phone is now in fastboot mode!
Now you want to download this file: (MediaFire) or this file: (MultiUpload) and extract it to a folder called 'Android' (without the quotes '') on the C: drive (you'll probably need to make this folder yourself.
1. Now open CMD with administrator privileges (Search for CMD in the start menu and right click on 'cmd' and click 'Run as Administrator' )
2. Connect the phone to your computer via USB cable and wait for the necessary drivers to install. If the drivers can not be found or installed then download this and extract it to somewhere on your PC, then plug your phone into the computer and when it asks to install the drivers, point it to the path where you extracted the drivers to.
4. Your phone will now reboot with CyanogenMod 7 (Android 2.3.3). The first boot might take longer than a normal boot.
5. You can now re-insert your SD card and go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage>Mount SD Card
Enjoy!
The instructions for flashing both the firmware with fastboot and flashing CyanogenMod are included in the zip archives called 'Readme'. I'll update the links so that you'll always have the most up to date version of CyanogenMod available for download, note that if you choose to update your phone you will loose all your data including apps etc. so backup before you update
3. Remove the SD card, the battery and the SIM card.
4. Press the Volume Down button and connect your USB cable this will put your phone into download mode.
5. Next you need to open up device manager and go to modems and disable the LG Android USB modem.
6. Now open up the KDZ updater:
a. Check that ‘Type’ is set to '3GQCT' and ’PhoneMode’ is set to 'CS_EMERGENCY'.
b. Then in the KDZ file box browse to and select the French KDZ file and click Launch software update. Wait for it to say finished.
c. Unplug the USB cable before it the phone boots. Then plug your phone back in while pressing the ’Volume Down’ button again, this time the screen will say download mode.
d. Go back to the KDZ updater and check that ’Type’ still says ’3GQCT’ and ’PhoneMode is still set to ’CS_EMERGENCY’
e. Browse to the out.kdz file and click launch software update] wait for it to say finished.
f. Remove the USB cable, put the battery back in and start the phone it will get to the Android boot logo but that’s it.
7. Plug the USB cable back in and go back to the KDZ updater and change ’PhoneMode’ to ’DIAG’
a. Browse to either the Carphone Warehouse KDZ + fastboot or the EuropeOpen KDZ + fastboot and click launch software update
8. When it says finished turn off the phone and boot into fastboot mode (hold ’Camera’ and power on the phone) and install Cyanogenmod 7 (instructions above).
Restoring back to 2.1:
If you are experiencing problems with the 2.3 ROM or just aren't to fond of it, you can restore back to 2.1 using this method (Thanks Djolle for the instructions!):
Connect the phone via fastboot and type:
Code:
fastboot.exe -w
Then type:
Code:
fastboot.exe reboot
(as soon LG logo appear press and keep pressed volume down button and power button) - you'll get download mode, then connect to PC USB cable.
Then flash original 2.1 ROM using KDZ_FW_UPD as normal (but you can do this from now on ONLY with fastboot enabled roms).
(But why would you want to go back to 2.1 anyway? )
ClockworkMod Recovery:
You can now install ClockworkMod Recovery to your LG GT540 without reflashing everything again! Just download the .img file from here, put your phone into fastboot mode again (Hold the camera button at power on) and open cmd again and type:
To access recovery, hold the Home button whilst powering on, keep holding it while the LG logo appears, it'll then take you to the ClockworkMod Recovery screen, use the volume up + down buttons to navigate around the menu, the call button to 'click' or 'enter' and the power button to go back. From the recovery menu you can flash update.zip from the memory card and make nandroid backups of your device (a nandroid backup is a complete backup of your phone's internal drive, which you can restore at a later point if anything goes wrong). For more info on what ClockworkMod Recovery can do, do a Google search for 'ClockworkMod Recovery' (link here)
