Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Okay so I managed to flash my phone thanks to a previous reply about turning Mass Storage off, but now when it reboots it just keeps asking me to force close multiple processes, It also has no network signal.

The processes that are not responding are:
com.android.phone
android.process.acore

This happens after installing 2.1+fastboot. It doesn't matter, just boot into fastboot and flash CM7, you'll be fine :)

hi
i installed CyanogenMod 7/SwiftDroid v2.0 M3 by fastboot mode, well it seems fine.
but all of a sudden my facebook and twitter account disappeared.
every time i have to login into my account.
can anyone explain wats the problem?

If you have moved them to SD card, move it back to the phone memory, when it's on the SD it resets itself for some reason..

Quick question...

I'm thinking of upgrading to 2.3 to overclock my phone, but I'm not sure if i should 'cause if I break it, I don't think my parents will trust me with a good phone. :\
I also have a Bluetooth headset that I use now and then, which isn't supported by CyanogenMod 7. :(

What should I do?

- x-treme

It's really easy to install CM7, especially if you use the .exe file, it does all the work for you after you've flashed the KDZ file. Overclocking won't break the phone, just drain battery life while increasing performance. As of now bluetooth headsets aren't supported because the dev doesn't have a bluetooth headset to try it with..

A known issue with the latest M4 release is the SD card not mounting, a fix is in testing and will be included in the next release.

(+) Pressety in DSPManager
(+) Improved energy.

(-) USB Flash Drive in mass storage mode, no driver will be in the next version (still in testing)

I have that exact problem and I'm on the M4, do you happen to know when a new release will be out for the fix?

I don't seem to have any problem with mounting the SD card, so it must be one of those problems that only affects some phones. The next releaseshould be very soon.

Just upgraded to M4 from v1.9 and i notice that the CyanogenMod Wallpaper was removed. Is there a way to put it back again?
Also, where can I download the other Music player that is use in 1.9?

Does anyone know if the video in google chat works? The official 2.3.4 has it but some are saying that this 2.3.4 only has the old google chat built in.

Cheers

Here you go, First install the ''com.google.android.carhome-1.apk'' & then install ''CarHomeLauncher.apk''... :)

Hope I helped! :D

It seems most of the people are downloading only ''com.google.android.carhome-1.apk''(7 Views),& skipping ''CarHomeLauncher.apk''(2 Views)... IT WON'T WORK IF YOU DON'T INSTALL THEM BOTH

Yeah both files are needed and its works great... :) Thanks

1. Download the recovery update from either here (MultiUpload) or here (MediaFire)
2. Copy the update to your SD Card (I recommend on the root of the SD Card (not in any folders)
3. Boot into recovery by holding the Home button on power up, or when rebooting the phone, select 'recovery' in the options list.
4. Make a backup of your current version just in case.
5. Navigate to 'apply zip from sdcard'>'choose zip from sdcard' then select the update-cm-7.0.0-GT540-MUR4IK-signed.zip file and flash it.
6. Enjoy!

My question is how I find this "apply zip from sdcard"? I go to recovery but I can not find this option.

It's right there on the main menu (see attachment):

The GT540 has a problem with SDHC cards with a capacity of 8GB and above if they are less than Class 6. It seems to be some sort of low level issue. I tried a 16GB class 4 card in the past and got the same symptoms that you are getting.

I'm currently using a 16GB Class 6 card and it's had no problems at all on 2.1 and Swiftdroid 1.9/CM7.

:UPDATE:
Got my new 8Gb Class 6 SDHC today and everything is working beautifully. :) So I can confirm that you need at least a Class 6.
Only wish I'd known that before buying the Class 4 card

Hey all,

Quick question before i install cyanogenmod.
I am in Australia on a pre paid OPTUS account.

Which version of the KDZ updater should i use? I assume the europe version but not sure.

KDZ Updater CarphoneWarehouse Unlocked.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Carphone Warehouse Unlocked)

KDZ Updater Europe Open.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Europe Open)
