Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Hey all,

Quick question before i install cyanogenmod.
I am in Australia on a pre paid OPTUS account.

Which version of the KDZ updater should i use? I assume the europe version but not sure.

KDZ Updater CarphoneWarehouse Unlocked.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Carphone Warehouse Unlocked)

KDZ Updater Europe Open.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Europe Open)

I'm pretty sure the europe one will be fine, and the end of the day you are not going to use the 2.1 rom you just need the fastboot extras that are part of that particular rom.

Would be a good idea to copy all your APN details off your phone before flashing, as you will have to enter them manually afterwards.

I should've put this in the first post, it doesn't matter which one, it gets replaced by CyanogenMod anyway (:

I'm getting the following error when tryng to load teh fastboot. Currently i'm using a Indian official 2.1 ROM. and trying to load Europe FastBoot. Is it the problem??
18:54:33 : Launching SW update
18:54:33 : Unpacking KDZ
18:54:36 : KDZ file extraced
18:54:38 : Files were extracted.
18:54:38 : LGMobileDL Load.
18:54:38 : Port = -1
18:54:38 : Connecting to phone
18:54:38 : PHONE WAS NOT FOUND!

Cool, I installed Fastboot sucessfully.

Now the phone booted in recovery mode and i can see a blank screen, I pluged into the USB and started the "SwiftDroid_v2.0_fastboot_M4" it opens a cmd pront and says "waiting for device" and waiting forever :((

btw I have a doubt. Should I skip the part "Updating from older versions:" why this section?/ can't I directly go to "Instructions to install CyanogenMod:"

The phone needs to boot into fastboot mode, not recovery. What version of Windows are you using and what happens when you plug in your phone through USB?

If you don't have CM7 already installed you skip the section 'Updating from older versions' because you don't have an older version of CM7. I should've stated that a bit more clearly (:

Sorry sorry my bad, I booted in fastboot mode by holding the CAM key while switching on the phone.

Computer doesn't recognize the phone when I plug it to the USB. it shows android device and yellow mark in device manager. But it happens only when its in fastboot mode. If I remove the battery and boot in normal mode then the system identifies the phone.

When I run "Install SwiftDroid v1.9" in the fastboot mode nothnig happens, command prompt says "Waiting for device..." datz it :((

I'm using Windows 7.

PS: I re-inserted SIM, datacard after fastboot installed.

Try plugging into a different USB port, Win7 should automatically install drivers for it

Drag down the notifications bar and tap the 'USB Connected' notification and you can enable mass storage
It didn't work for me  I clicked the turn on USB Storage button but nothing happens. Once phone got restarted.

It worked for me when I had Android 2.1 now with the new CyanogenMOD 2.3.3.

I have choosed apps to External memeroy via CyanogenMod menu. is it the problem??

If you have swap enabled, disable swap. If you don't use swap, then uninstall the Swapper2 app and reboot and it should work (:

@dudeman1996: Thanks again for all your hard work and support.

I upgraded to 2.3 with your help a long time ago, but I forgot how to make the home as 7 pages instead of 5! Is it still possible? Can someone please help me with that? lol.

My update doesn't work, ive followed the instructions but nothing seems to work. I keep getting an error message every two seconds on my phone saying process com.android has stopped working and force closes. help?

dudeman will be able to help you but you have to tell exactly wot u did :)

Did you manage to boot in Fastboot mode?? Did you flash Europe ROM??

update working fine.
Feeling rather ******ed at the moment.
Installed from 2.1 with fastboot. But stopped there. Wondered why nothing was working, but that was because I hadn't downloaded and installed the extra swift mod. Lol Noob. :)

Np :)

You can't do that with the stock launcher, only with the LG custom one. However, if you use a 3rd party launcher like ADW Launcher, ADW Launcher Ex or LauncherPro, you can add 7 homescreens. Just download one of em from the Market! I find ADW Ex the best, it's a paid app but it's definitely worth the money!

This seems to happen when you install the 2.1 + fastboot, it really doesn't matter, just boot the phone into fastboot and continue the process :)

Managed to get it working, but totally missing the original keyboard... my fingers are too fat for the new layout. Can i restore the keyboard or is there a multiple press keyboard i can download from the market?

The one I use is smart keyboard pro. It is a paid for app, but I find that the keyboard is very easy to use.

Hi!

I just rooted and flashed the latest version of this rom on a friend's phone yesterday and everything was just fine until the battery ran empty. Now the phone just won't charge and he can't turn it on even when it's plugged in.

Any ideas what to do?
