Root [Updated] Automated All Bloatware Removal v2.4 (LG Motion 4G rooted)

Maybe we can get input from everyone here. Perhaps the following files shouldn't be removed? These look like standard apps that might be best left.
AAT.apk
AAT.odex
VoiceDialer_ics.apk
VoiceDialer_ics.odex
VoiceRecorder.apk
VoiceRecorder.odex
VoiceSearch.apk
VoiceSearch.odex

Possibly others apps I haven't listed? I want to get everyone's opinion on this. Modifying the script is no problem for me, and I'm very open to improving it.

Aside from the Voice app that's pretty much it the only reason I mentioned Metro easy wifi was because I like the way it automatically connects you to open hotspot instead of having to log into a website click on Accept the terms and conditions blah blah blah it automatically connects you, something I like but other than that everything else looks pretty good. I just like the simplicity of not having to log onto a website click the terms and conditions of the wifi but being able to just automatically be logged on to the hotspot is one pretty cool feature metro dud get right, but if anybody else knows an alternative application please do share

That metro easy wifi is unnecessary. To me, it doesn't do anything but tell I'm connected. It's just another app takes up space. I don't use any app, android already does all that for you

Those should all stay, they aren't bloatware.
IMHO, the script should really only remove metroapps/useless apps, not Google apps and not LG apps as some of those LG apps are quite useful, like quickmemo, OSP, etc.
Now if LG/metro made a Facebook app or any social app, you should get rid of those :)

Sounds reasonable to me too. We should all take a good look at the full list of apps and see if there is anything else that looks like it should be kept.

I will update the script soon.

For some reason, when I try to reinstall the weather widget, it says it installs, but never shows up anywhere? That was a better looking weather app than most I've seen.

Another note why not remove mymetro? It's what gives the popup adds! I uninstalled it from the apps list (under settings) but cant remove it from the apps list?

Quick tip... open the file as text, delete the names of files you want to keep.
BAM!!! Custom bloat melter!!!! :D

Good tip. People should generally do this using a text editor app on their phone. (Editing on Windows can make the script not work.)

@labstud
Did you download the file directly to your phone? If so, some browsers like Chrome will corrupt the file. You need to use Firefox or Opera.

Yes, i made sure the file is ok. I opened the file to make some changes, i removed the GoogleTTS files as i still wanted to keep those.

I also updated busybox to the latest version (1.21.0) to /system/xbin

Or [you can edit on your pc] if you happen to have a Linux distro ;)

If you edited it on your phone and this still happened, then you need to get a different editor, because the one you're using is mimicking Windows. The text editor I use is called Jota

I used Jota and this had no effect, i still get the same error.

I normally use DroidEdit Pro and it's set to mimic Linux.

Whats good text edit app? Do I just remove the .apk and .odex of the files i want to keep oh and if i want to put one back how do i go about that? Just download the .zip and is it like apk to install?

There are probably lots, but I use Jota

Do I just remove the .apk and .odex of the files i want to keep
Yes, just edit and remove them out from the list.

oh and if i want to put one back how do i go about that? Just download the .zip and is it like apk to install?
To put files back would require a program like Root Explorer. You have to copy the files out of the zip, and paste them back the original locations in your filesystem. You may also need to change the permissions to 644 on the files (apk&odex).

If restoring apps like this is too difficult/confusing, then I recommend just reflashing the phone firmware.

Saved sports and couple other things seems to be working fine and bit faster :D does this free ram i assume it does.

Updated this script to version 2.4 now. Many apps are no longer deleted due to their necessity and integration in the system. If anyone has further suggestions for improvement, just write in. All suggestions will be considered.

I think user dictionary may only work for the stock keyboard (not swype and others). Has anyone noticed a lack of dictionary functionality after running the bloat remover? If yes, then perhaps that should be left on the system also.
