Root **updated**root method for GingerBread use at your own risk*

I tried to gain s-off with revolutionary, but was unable to. The documents page of their website says it is only for GB!

Any other ideas of how i can gain s-off?

Not really sure what you are saying here, but if you are running Froyo, then you might want to follow the instructions on this post:

http://androidforums.com/incredible...oyo-faq-rom-root-guide-now-noob-friendly.html

If you are on GB, there is nothing stating that the GB root is "fool" proof and you are kind of on your own until a stable method has been tried and tested and proven as "airtight" as it gets (as always rooting is at your own risk). You can follow the link at XDA posted by Android Forum member trophynuts:

Gingerbread Root Released! Go Go Go! - xda-developers

I would follow the XDA thread to read through the trials and errors others are having and to make sure that you have the HTC drivers, etc.

I just saw their supported devices page and it's a tad confusing as it appears that it's the same HBOOT version (.97)?, but there are people trying it on the XDA page, so I will be waiting for something a little more concrete.

This is pretty awesome news if we can have this treat so soon!

How long did you guys have to wait when it said "Waiting for fastboot..."?

I've been on that screen for several inutes and it doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried a few times with fastboot off/on and after reinstalling HTC fastboot drivers.

I had the same problem on froyo. I'm not sure why, but when I did it I had to reboot my computer for it to recognize the drivers and then I ran alpharev again and it worked. Maybe that will help. Also, make sure HTC sync is uninstalled.

With CM7 and Tiamat kernal, overclocked to 1.2Gz, this thing flies now!!

What release did you use? I want a good and bugless one.

I used the last nightly, 8/14/11. I haven't noticed any bugs, but I haven't used all features yet. All the basics seemed to work (phone, sms, cameras, browser, market). The only issue I noticed is the speaker volume is a little low, but with the Tiamat kernal it seems a little better.

I tried MIUI for a bit, but it's not my style. Too similar to iphone or touchwiz. I tend to like stock android roms.

cool. I tried out the CM7 build of the 13th release. I didn't like the old clock and keyboard. Overall it was really snappy though. I went with the Virtuous v1.31.3 ROM instead. It's a very nice 2.3.3 ROM with the 3.0 Sense UI. However, I don't like Sense. LauncherPro ftw! lol I will say that the ADW in CM7 is very nice looking. I do miss the CRT lock animation with CM7 though.
There is also now real custom settings with Virtuous either. Virtuous does come with an overclocked kernel and an app to control it.
Oh yeah! and I don't think I can live with the old camera app either

Ok, so just to be sure cause I'm a brand new DINC2 owner and a ****** ...

the above Revolutionary mod (the post with the youtube videos) will work on this DINC2 running 2.3.4?

I feel like the distinction of 2.3.4 is important, because I heard people had success with 2.3.3.

So, my question, summarized: Can I use that Revolutionary method to root my DINC2 running 2.3.4?

Thank you.
