Window phones look complicated,IMO.
 
I've owned an iPhone 3g and the Moto Droid X.
You said that you are always on facebook? Case closed. Get the iPhone 4.
Why?
The iPhone facebook app is much nicer than the Android app. If you spend a lot of time on facebook, then iPhone is the way to go. The Android facebook app has improved a lot, but still lags behind iPhone in features and usability.
 
If you are gonna get an iPhone, I would say just wait. The next iPhone will be released this summer...you don't want to be stuck with old technology for 20 months (not that it really matters with the iPhone, I guess...nothing ever changes with it really).

she is in small town GA so LTE isnt coming anytime soon. whatever you get, just make it a 1y contract.

not just LTE, but dual core processors, ddr2 desktop grade RAM. Front facing cameras. The hardware is just as much a reason as the upgrade to 4g for waiting.
 
I have an x and we have 2 Ipod touches. Most of the free apps on Droid you have to pay for in the app store. Like Angry Birds for example.

Didn't say anything about LTE bruh. The hardware itself will be outdated and might not be able to take full advantage of the next iOS when it is released.
 
This woman definitely loves her DX. Wouldn't trade it for an iphone, period. It's gonna hold me through until dual processors and LTE are more commonplace and not only available on one or two handsets...and when LTE is available in more locations.

I'm in the middle of a two year contract but can get an early upgrade in early mid year. Will be fun to see what's available then, or whether I want to wait awhile.

There will always be something new that's about to be released that's better than anything currently on the market. My point...I LOVE my DX and will be happy with it until I find a new phone with enough features to differentiate it from what I have now (upgraded features, etc). So, sometimes, it's worth it to get something you want NOW that will keep you happy until the next generation is rolling out with momentum...not the newest devices trickling out and get the bugs worked out. :)

Whatever your decision, hope you enjoy your phone!
 
Ally, you do have to remember that most ppl here on AF are biased towards Android and have a strong dislike(that i never understand)
so generally asking about iphone vs any android(even a backflip), you will most likely get a more biased answer towards android lol

But i know you said you were leaning towards an iphone so if you do get the iphone, i would love to know your experience with it compared to your droid :)
 
I guess it would probably look like showing off and rubbing it in the faces of Android users, but I would also be interested in hearing the experience of a true Androidian (someone who knows the in's and outs of an Android device, not someone who picked one up for a few days and couldn't maje heads or tails of it)who switches over to an iPhone 4/5.

I would love to hear about both the good and the bad trade-offs of switching to Apple. Personally speaking, I'm not so brazen as to think Android does EVERYTHING better than Apple/Windows. I'm quite sure if I were to find myself using an iPhone for a week or so I would certainly stumble my way across a few, "oh cool, I wish my DX could do that" discoveries. I just don't believe there would be enough of them to get me to drop this incredible phone I have in my hand.

The bottom line is, I'm quite impressed with all of the OS's out in todays market. I'm just more impressed by Android than the others.
 
If you only talk on your phone for like 5 mins a month, why not look at the iTablet (Or whatever the hell it's called)?

Bigger screen, probably the same price, if not cheaper than the iPhone 4.

+1 to Outlaw's comments above. I'd also like to hear about the Vzw iPhone from someone who's familiar with Android. Not that I am thinking of switching (I've just spent a lot of time exploring what the DX can do once rooted and OC/UV) but I'd like to know more about other phones for my own curiousity. It would also be nice to hear about the new Windows phones from an experienced Android user as well.

Ally, congrats on your decision to try out the Verizon iPhone - it sounds like that will meet your needs based on what you want your phone to do for you. One question - will you get the 3G phone as soon as possible or do you think you'll wait until a 4G version is available (this summer or ?). If you want speed then the 4G iphone will be the one to get, but its a longer wait (how much longer is anyone's guess right now)...

I've not had an iPhone myself but I've compared my DX with an iP4 that a coworker has. He loves it but hates the service (or lack thereof) from AT&T. He'll be switching to Verizon as soon as his contract will let him. I have to say that his retina display is nice, but I have no complaints about the screen size and clarity of the DX.

I think you'll like the iPhone on Verizon's network :D
 
I have had an Android phone for over a year now and I wouldn't not give it up for the iPhone. I have an X now that I love. If you like any customization you need Android. You can change your wallpapers, launchers, themes. Make your desktop look the way you want it to. Not just the addition of another icon. I love the widgets which don't exist on iOS. The free turn by turn GPS through Google Maps. The Market, while not as big, has more free apps than the App Store. Many apps that are free on Android are pay in the Apps Store.
I can create my own notification tones and ringtones in seconds right on my phone.

iOS to me us very claustrophobic after using Android. It's download and app and get another icon. Android had multitasking and folder creation from day one. The software if updated more frequently. Hardware is produced faster. Apple will always be playing catch up with Android. Android is already getting the Atrix and Bionic before that iPhone 5 is even announced.


These are my experiences that will keep me from every owning an iPhone.

I will say iPhone probably always be a little smoother. This is because there is only 1, now 2 devices. The software is optimized for that hardware where Android can't be. So if the big thing for you is how smooth the scrolling or pinch to zoom is than iPhone has that. My X is pretty smooth though. Enough for me anyway. The display is better on the iPhone and it is much simpler. If you are not a tinkerer and could care less about what your desktop looks like than the iPhone is a great fit.
 
Now I am in a quandary too. Verizon announced that my city, Sioux Falls, will be getting LTE in the first half of this year. My contract is up in March, and now I will have to decide whether to jump to 4G phone this year.
 
Look at the article in Sunday's New York Times about the IPhone. According to the author, he expects a lot of the dropped call problems blamed on ATT's network may actually because of problems within the Iphone engineering itself. He expects this may finally come to life in a few months if the Iphone is dropping calls on Verizon while the Droid continues with it's flawless phone service.

First and foremost, a phone needs to be a phone. If you don't care about it's phone performance, and all you are worried about is apps, then get an IPAD. Otherwise, get a DX and be sure that you will have a phone that is a phone. It doesn't fall short as a smart phone, either.
 
take what carmendiva says with a grain of salt. i've had the displeasure with getting in to discussions with her.

Droid X, definately. retina display is a gimmic and its pure garbage.

best advice, use both phones at a store. infact spend hours there if you wish.
 
Id run from samsung until they kiss and make up with all the carriers. You'll know when 2.2 actually gets released if at all. The x is barely longer than the iphone. You really need to lay them on top of each other.
 
iPhone. hands down. I've had my X for ~ 2 wks now. I'm seriously thinking of returning it for an iPhone 4. The laggy graphics are pissing me off.
