Can anybody with the OTA version verify additional functionality, better performance, or anything at all that is different with the OTA than the v3 leak?

Now, I am no software guy, by I do know when numbers match. That being said, my guess is that the OTA is a modified version of the v3 which wouldn't require a complete wipe of the phone (like the leak did).

Clearly, it's the same resulting software, just a different delivery or installation method. VZW will make the package available for download later (well, historically they do) from the PCD Phones site that people can use to update. At the end of the day, end-users need to have the same software installed for support reasons with VZW.

If you count the Weather app force closing as soon as you tap the weather clock as functionality, I'll take your $20 now...

I've heard that leak 3 does not have this issue. I received my OTA at 4:30 this morning and guess what? No weather. Posted a thread about it already, hoping someone can help me. Also wrote to HTC (it is probably not their fault but it's good to get it to their attention) and I really want to get to the bottom of this.

But yeah, mine force closes. Yours doesn't.

Isn't google maps on the OTA version supposed to have multitouch? V3 does not.

However, since it is a "google" app you might not consider it built in functionality.

EDIT: Scratch that comment, just saw reports that even ppl with the OTA don't have multitouch in gmaps.......

Lots of people have an app that force closes on them but doesn't affect others. Are you suggesting they have different s/w too ?

Has anyone tried this? I think it is the same as what other people are doing, but I have not tried it yet.

The other thing I was wondering was if you put it in the cache folder, and then went to System Updates on the phone, would it see the file and apply it?

Users without root access can't write to that folder.
