Root USB Driver, USB Debugging

When trying to install the USB drivers on Windows7 I continue to run into the issue of the ADB drivers not sticking. I would really like to be able to get it to stick and have tried basically everything under the sun to get it to work. Any ideas besides using the Wireless ADB app?

I'm not getting any notification on the phone, Win 7 errors on loading driver, I do have debugging and notify enabled. I've settled on BACKside for now but trying to find if some other setting on phone screws it up for me or what. Never had problem with stock rom... I heart Gingerbread, happy holidays, go Packers!

Well brotherswing, maybe obvious but to tell ya the truth I didn't think necessary at all. I thought Win 7 didn't even need any additional drivers as it always correctly identified my phone for storage up till today. But yep, I went to LG and got the Android driver and even though it didn't look like it was installing after clicking away on it for awhile I then plugged my phone in and sure enough I clicked up the driver install dialog. Now in devices I have like six "Android" entries:D I haven't messed with any drivers or programs since my last phone (LG900g) and I've long since formatted and reinstalled my desktop since then. Again, thankyou!

So your PC will recognize the phone, then stops? I just want to verify the symptoms.

The drivers never completely stick, ever... I've tried a million different methods, re-installing the drivers a million times. I'd love to do things like swap PRL and such but for some reason I can never get the ADB Interface to stick. Something always goes wrong. It's been quite annoying.

I've had this issue ever since I put Gingerbread on the phone in the days of aospCMod.

I haven't tried reformatting my computer... >.<

To get ADB installed properly and in 5 min. max, first delete all things having to do with the SDK(including the path to the adb.exe in the enviromental variables). Then go here http://www.support-4-you.com/main/i...d-adb-installation&catid=40:how-tos&Itemid=57

For the most up date drivers go to LG's site. Once downloaded and installed do not plug in your phone, but instead, reboot your PC. After it is fully operational again, then plug in your phone and allow the drivers to finalize their installation .

I'll try it out once I get home today and let you know how things pan out.

I don't understand why you cant get the drivers to work. Try ADB wireless from the market. You won't need the drivers. Just a WiFi signal.

Drivers on Win7 are a hassle
Drivers when using a rom other than stock Froyo are a pain.

Try shutting off the phone and plugging in the cord. Do not turn it on, that works for some. Otherwise, you may have to restore Froyo in order to see it through USB.

I was reading a post at Android Central from someone who could never get the VM LG USB drivers to work correctly. He solved it by using LGAndroidDriver_Ver_1.0_All.exe from here Official LG Phone Forum.

They are for Alltel but it seemed to work for him on Win 7 and XP.

Another option is the driver I use. It comes in the LG VM package, the one that loads the BG Updater or whatever its called. I don't like all that crap so I got rid of it and started using just LGUnitedMobileDriver_S498CA21_WHQL_ML_Ver_2.1 Works fine for me.

I followed all the steps you provided and the drivers for the ADB interface failed.

Try one more thing to get ADB to work before you give up. Download the Android SDK, the installer_r16-windows.exe , it also installs a Google USB driver. Follow the directions here. How To Set Up ADB/USB Drivers for Android Devices (Updated 12/13/11)

That's the one I've usually used. I've tested and you will still need the LG USB driver. You can try rebooting first and see if the Google driver works by itself but it hasn't for me. I'm not even sure its supposed to. If not, try one of the drivers in my last post. Reboot your computer after installing and plug your phone in then try the adb devices after the driver loads up.

Ya... Windows... Blech... Now if it were OSX... "who needs drivers??? NOT ME!!!!".

Ugh, Windows...

Oh, I've basically given up since everything I've tried/followed (besides reverting to Froyo, which I could do just to swap the PRL I suppose) hasn't worked.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions I really do apprecciate the effort. <3 you all and this forum.

Just install Froyo.
You pretty much have to put Froyo in order for the drivers to even have a chance, just how it is. Very few people have gotten it to work without it (especially with win7). Stop fighting it. Do a nandroid backup, install Harmonia 1x and nothing else, update your prl then put your nandroid back. Total time, 10 maybe 15 minutes. How long have you spent on this so far?

There is a way to use a script, but really, just flash Froyo and be done.

As for the OSX not needing drivers.
PUHLEASE! You haven't tried setting up various printers in an office environment to OSX. I've worked with OSX, like Linux it either works out of the box or it's a complete nightmare. Use a significant amount of office stuff and you can almost guarantee at least one thing will not work properly.

I can't hate on Windows too much. It works fine, but also, it's also 2/3rds of my income. :p

I've been given a 2003 PC with XP installed. I don't develop, so I don't require a whole lot of RAM and Hard Drive space. I wouldn't trade this windows OS for anything that came out after. ADB was installed in a heartbeat, drivers in a blink of an eye. It is so easy to get things done in this OS. What were they thinking. Why didn't they stick to it's simplicity.

Meh, those drivers work fine on Win7 with Froyo.

You can keep XP, I won't drop back from Win7 64bit. One set of driver issues isn't worth giving up the speed, power and stability I have (10 second boot times ). Besides, I always have some junk laptop laying around I can run XP on if need be.

I would have to say that 10 sec boot times are a big plus.
So Windows 7 (64bit) is easy to navigate, or is it like Vista?

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.

Exactly.

I have a few programs at work that won't work on Win 7. The owner doesn't want to spend the money to upgrade. Microsoft has a free download for XP to work in virtual mode that works fine for that.

Coming from XP, which I loved, it was a little learning curve navigating Win 7, but I wouldn't go back to XP.
