Help User Reviews of The HTC EVO 4G LTE

I did it. I made a freaking decision and went to BB and bought the LTE. I am very impressed so far. I love how Thin it is ..wow. I also am a huge fan of the voice to text, it is awesome how it transcribes while you are talking. I need to figure out if I will root or not, but if I do, I think I want a stock ics setup if possible, and something that is very battery efficient.

The kick stand is supposed to twist, but I have not figured it out yet. I really underestimated how amazing getting a new phone is because this thing is just miles above any phone I have seen so far. Also, the gps locked on for me on the drive home, so the initial impression is good. I am charging the phone now and need to configure it to my liking, and download all the apps again. Stoked to finally be able to use the chrome browser and have real battery life for once.

The widget setup is so much better..just the way you can build your screens from the one screen is genius. Currently downloading is very slow on 3G, so I am hopping to wifi. This phone is really great so far on my initial impression.

I've never heard of the kickstand twisting? Do you mean it is supposed to be able to be used in 3 different positions? Bc the kickstand only opens and closes one way... I would definetly not suggest trying to twist it

Yep, I am coming from og EVO and didn't even think to just lay the phone at a different angle. Lol..that's freaking awesome. The old one collapsed so easily.

Got my LTEVO yesterday from BB. I really like it so far. I'm not really a gamer type but I wanted to test out the phone and GTA3 and ShadowGun run very well.

Screen is absolutely beautiful. I've only taken a few dozen pics, but the camera is amazing compared to the OG.

Only wifi problems I had was when my new dropbox account was syncing a bunch of files.

Battery lasted 12 hours on first charge with heavy use downloading apps, reconfiguring, and tweaking what I can tweak.

My OG evo was set up exactly the way I liked it after rooting, so this one is gonna take a while to get used to but.... I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks to the AF community for giving me so much to read and consider before making the decision!

Jake

Had an issue where my EVO reset in my pocket. It asked to send a crash report to htc so I did. Now my haptic feedback will not turn off even when I uncheck it.

After the reset the phone felt fairly hot in my pocket.

Mine is how weightless the phone is, it feels as If its fake

At first with how slim and light it is I was worried I'd break it. Now when I pick up my og Evo it feels bulky and antique in comparison.

My favorite feature is the dual core processor. I'm a huge speed freak. "Loading" and "buffering" are swear words in my book.

Agreed. I get a lot of compliments on my photos and videos because of the camera quality.

Also, I can take photos at a later time from previously recorded videos.

I didn't realize you could take photos at a later time.

I havent taken a video yet!  that's awesome!

You must do it. DO IT NOW!
;)

Video record your TV or something. Then review your recording. You may need to touch the screen to get the "snap shot" icon to show. But when it does, it works. You should see the pic in your Gallery.

I should update my review of this phone ...

of course.. to add..

when capturing pic from a video.. it will be at the resolution of the vid frame. maybe a bad focus frame.

when capturing pic WHILE taking a video.. the pic will be at the higher set resolution. so it is a separate function (this is what i read).

One of the news blogs demonstrated that exact thing in their video review.

The captured pic while recording wasn't at 1920x1080, it was at a higher res.

Plus, I just confirmed this with my settings - I just did a vid at 1280x720 and at 1920x1080 but the stills I caught on the fly were at 2992x1680.

I did a frame grab from the vid and it was 1920x1088.

Still nice to be able to frame grab easily though. :)

Yes! This is an excellent feature.

Can the iphone do this...

Or is it a future innovation?
To be patented and sue HTC?

Moving from original Evo to this has been interesting. This phone is a lot more delicate. My 2 year old EVO looks flawless and this after 9 days is beat up. The metal band around the phone it dented from just fitting a plastic case on it! That said I am enjoying the phone and the speed....and the camera...definately a plus!

Network Issues. On 3 of these first seven days I've experienced an issue where I lose part of my coverage. I can still make & receive calls but my internet goes down. My weather app won't update, I can't connect via either of my browsers, and my app updates/download attempts just result in an error message saying something like "Packets are invalid". I've spoken to 2 different Sprint reps via phone & chat and each of them did or had me do something different to resolve the issue. One of them speculated that it could have something to do with the zip code I am in when this has occurred. I live & work in 2 different zip codes and so far this has only happened at work so..... I'm not sure if she was trying to say it was a tower issue but if that was it she could have just come out and said it.!

This is my main "dislike". They really need to fix the data issues.

Coming from my OGEvo I can't stop appreciating this phone. I love the still shot from video function and most importantly I finally have real battery life. I don't have to charge my phone at work and worry about it dying if I am out all night. It is so much faster as well, and Sense actually is rather nice on it now that Im rooted.

Glad I finally made the decision on this thing, since it is really an incredible phone.

PS- Not to mention I have a chance in certain neighborhoods right now to get 4G Wimax with my current Evo 4G. Who knows when LTE will be available in Fort Lauderdale? There probably will be three or four new models of high end Android smart phones on Sprint before then anyway that I can use my restored upgrade eligibility on.

Just thought I would add that I'm pleased since I moved locally last week to a new neighborhood in the Fort Lauderdale area, unlike where I lived before about fifteen minutes away, I now get a fair to good Wimax 4G signal inside my house and yard with my original Evo 4G! Glad I'm keeping that a little longer until I get more smartphone options in the near to medium term future.

I'm reviving this thread, just to see what the impressions are of the White EVO, if anybody picked it up this past Sunday.

Also, does anybody know if that's going to remain a Sprint store exclusive (like the 32gb SGS 3 is)?
