Root using only another modem file to fix gps issue possible?

haramo

Lurker
I have flashed a stock rom(one packaged) on samsung galaxy gio gt-s5660, using odin 4.42 and GIO_v1.0.ops file.
the original stock rom does not support arabic language.

Before I flashed the arabic stock rom, I first rooted, changed the standard recovery to cwm recovery , made a backup of the original rom, and flashed a custom rom. I did this because I hoped the custom rom would has arabic. but no. It also was my first time flashing an android phone.

Could I use Odin 4.42 and the ops file, to restor the original stock rom I have bakcupped with cwm?

After flashing the arabic stock rom gps does not work anymore. I have tested it out on an app called maps (from google). It keep saying that gps is searching for signal.

The reason why if because the modem version is not the same. the original stock rom and the first custom rom without arabic language support had the same modem version. Alhtough I have not tested the gps, but I assume it works.

The arabic rom has another modem version. that explains the problem I have.

No my question is: I read a thread here on this forum ( odin and stock rom tutorial: androidforums point com/551-all-things-root/480888-odin-stock-rom-tutorial

there a one packaged and seperate files Rom. Could I use a modem file with the same version as the original stock rom and only flash this file, with odin 4.42 and the ops file.

Where can I find such roms with separate files? I only find one packaged rom.

I still can fix the smartphone if I use odin again, if I decide to give it a try to flash only the modem file. at least I hope?

What are your opinions?

Welcome to our AndroidForums, haramo.

I can't help you with your issues, but I've moved your thread over here to the all-things-root area for the Gio so the good folks in here can try to help you.

Best of luck!

Thanks scary alien :-).

I really hope it's possible to only flash the modem file, so the baseband will be exactly the same as my original stock rom. and of course that the entire system works great and stable.

Or maybe it's possible to flash the custom rom with the same modem number and then flash one of the other separated files , so I could have the OS supports arabic language? I don't know, I'm just thinking loud.

Or maybe someone know a Custom or stock rom that had the same numbers and arabic language?

How easy it is to solve this, the better ofcourse :-)

Someone? anyone?
