Root Vanilla Froyo by jt1134

So I ditched adw as usual. Got my trusty LP+ on and all apps more or less reinstalled and re-data restored. Used spare parts to speed the animations and my word this thing flies. The fastest opening and closing of apps ever. It is faster than Kaosinate/CM wow, just wow. And almost everything works.

Now I just need some themes, nitsuj17 ;) and btw try it I think this might even be a daily for you now. Only camera, bt and mms missing.

Again wow this is fast Im impressed this is definitely a step up from anything I ever saw on 2.1 IMO

Sold. Except I am going to wait until this weekend when I have more time to get it all figured out. I'm familiar with the process for this, but I want to make sure I have it down right so it goes smoothly.

FWIW I was even able to go right from Kaosinate to this baby. So if anyone is on the official v3 rom the recovery works well enough to jump to this. You just need to flash the rom, it might not take the 1st time. If it doesnt then advanced> reboot recovery and try again. 3rd time was the charm for me. Then I wiped data, cache and dalvik. Installed gapps and kernel and I was a happy panda.
As great as Kaosinate is at present right now this aosp is more polished and has a few more things working. By the weekend we'll see. Probably will be on v.3 knowing jt. Then again Kaos might be on v.5rom himself.
Friendly competition is great because we all win. Thankfully jt and PK seem to be sharing any and all info between them :)

Soft keys aren't vibrating. This happening to you too Saps?
 
Hana i was just saying on irc yesterday i wanted vanilla aosp as an option instead of cm. :) (cm is a themers killjoy with its built in stuff).....of course this means 2 aosp frameworks...,double the work....but that's fine

The mounting the.sdcard thing is kind of vital to me for theme revisisons as its tedious to boot to recovery and push new.frameworks

So i may hold off another day or so on fixing themes for it and finish the.2nd and only version of my new gb theme

But very exciting stuff. :)

The spare parts thing adds to the effect a little, I don't use it usually and I remember the wow factor of it in his Eclair AOSP

Any plans to add Wifi etc.. toggles to the notification bar? I missed that on AOSP

i havent booted jts aosp, but im assuming power controls arent in the pulldown....cm adds that to aosp (gem series do now too)

personally i dont like the pulldowns....i might if i knew how to mod what the inputs were (maybe ill work on that)
 
Coolio, no worries, I guess I can just use Cyanogen if need be.

What do you use on AOSP? Power control widget? Or do you just leave wifi/gps/bt on? Or don't use them much?

ive always prefered the power control widget to the pulldown...but thats me :)
 
Yeah I can understand that, but I use Widget Locker and I can access the pulldown from the lock screen so that's how I roll. It's like one less swipe when I'm trying to toggle bluetooth while driving or something

Yeah squid confirmed nothing in the pulldown notifcations thats just how aosp is. CM obviously does have it and yes the best/easiest way is just to have the control widget. I can see how some people like aosp and also how some like CM. Its truly a blessing we have both.
Sounds like PK is getting close and JIT which likely means whatever one guy has the other should have working within a day. My phone actually work me this morning when I got a call that was pleasant change since CM wasnt ringing right, although PK got the fix and that'll be in V4 from him. I know both guys are working to get the sdmount thing going so I cannot imagine that wont be ready by the weekend.

Nitsuj17 do you have a agenda for 2.2 themes? I know you said red was almost done and I think your GB or bluebread was next. Should we hope for everything you did on DJ05? I dont know much about themes obviously. Are you starting from scratch each time or can you work off your existing theme?

im actually in vanilla atm just to try stuff...its a real pita pushing stuff in recovery so its a bit slow going...hopefully tomorrow for revolution or something for vanilla

yeah ive kinda gotten the flash dio1 all in one, pushed cwr and restoring dj05 backup thing down to a science at this point...so its not as annoying
 
nitsuj17 can you make me a green theme saying i'm the best? haha j/p I want to flash this so bad, but I don't want to keep flashing after every update so i'll wait till most of the bugs are worked out.

Yeah in anticipation of frequent rom flashes post data wipes I have placed all the apk's I need on my sdcard and I've got it down to a science now. When I went from Kaosinate to jt's I was back to normal in maybe 6 minutes post boot. All apps restored and reinstalled, LP replacing adw the whole nine yards
