[Verizon] Issues With AOKP B40 & 4.0.4

(1) My home wifi shows excellent signal and is working elsewhere. However, on YouTube it will not play any video.

(2) Changed battery signal color to red and it stays on default blue as it was with previous ROM.

Any suggestions?

Did you wipe data/cache/davlik cache before flashing? If you didn't that would be the 1st suggestion. If it was a clean flash, then you can revert to your last build that worked or just try another clean flash. For some people another clean flash fixed things somehow. Also if you are using a different kernel try using the stock one, or use a different version of the kernel.
 
yeah i'm having issues with AOKP 40's build... my google sync stop lighting up blue in the status bar... I can't seem to find how to download google play... when i downloaded google play 3.5.19 it won't run on my phone... using nova launcher the google search widget on homescreen doesn't work... any suggestions here? i'm desperately coming from codename android on 4.0.3 and hate losing all my feature :(??????

Google Play is included in Gapps when you flash that.

ahh bingo... user error... not used to having to flash a separate app package.. so my google search, sync, and play were not working...

just reflashed AOPK 40, flashed gapps... now i'm restarting

i wasn't sure if you could also flash a kernel all within 1 recovery? so that'd be rom+gapps+kernel is this possible within 1 recovery session?

you could try it and see. If you made a backup before modding then worst case scenario you'd restore to that and try again.
 
i have been flashing AOKP since the lower 20s builds.... never really had an issue, unless was the Supersonic version, but thats the evo kernel being fishy...
on my GNEX, i have no issues... how i accoomplish that?
wipe dalvik, flash rom, flash g apps, and reboot.... once its done rebooting, i then go back into recovery and flash franco kernel, then reboot.
once done i make my build prop tweaks and off i go... never had an issue.
 
I am having an issue with my pattern screen overlaying the face unlock screen, although face unlock still works. Apparently it's a pretty popular issue with B40, as it's being reported in Rootzwiki.

EDIT: Fix is reportedly done and will be implemented in B41 :)

Hey Guys,

My YouTube browsing is working perfectly fine. However, I still have the following issues:

(1) - The battery signal and wifi signal shows as blue and every time I change the color in ROM control (in settings), it won't change color at all! The color of the time does change. What can I do to fix it?

(2) Screen glitch when rebooting.

I first flashed radio to 4.0.4, then wiped data/cache/dalvik/battery stats and went into system/mounts and selected "format system (to flash system)" then I flashed the ROM, gapps & kernel. Then rebooted and used titanium backup to restore only the missing apps. Then rebooted and started organizing my apps. using nova launcher.

Can anyone please help me fix this because I dislike reinstalling all over as I have already grouped my apps. and have set the new settings.

Hey Doc

1) The battery and signal colors only work when you've chosen the dbm numbered reading for the signal and the battery bar for the battery. Changing the colors will not change the colors unless you use those exact displays.

2) the screen glitch upon boot is from a combination of the screen tweaks (multi's and gamma) and fauxs 18 kernel (imo). Unless you change those 2 things you'll have the glitch. It shouldn't matter much though unless you reboot your phone a lot and stare at the screen for that moment. I don't believe it will cause you any further issues beyond that initial glitch

I use franco M4 kernel and his screen tweaking app so I don't see the glitch.

What dbm numbers do I use to get the same color theme going for the clock/battery/signal? Clock/signal have no dbm options. Battery has a thickness option.

Also, is Nova launcher a popular one? I like it.
 
I'm going to re-install everything all over again.

First I'm going to wipe data/cache/dalvik/battery stats. Then i will go into "Mount/Storage" and select "Format System" to wipe out the sytem.

Then I will flash the 4.0.4 android update, then flash AOKP B40, flash the Gapps and Flash Lean kernel 3.9.0 for 4.0.4 and then reboot and backup the missing apps from titanium backup without the data files (don't want too much space to be taken on my cell with useless data).

(1) Is there anything else I need to do guys? Is that order good for me to do? Please let me know as soon as possible.

(2) I have read in threads that people have flashed the 4.0.4 android version 1st, then the new ROM, and then the Gapps and rebooted and then they have flashed the kernel, does this make a difference?

No difference in flashing stock 4.0.4, except you get new radio files, which you can flash on your own anyway.

Regarding the wipe, there's no need to wipe battery stats, as it has no bearing on installation issues. I'm still on the kernal that comes with it. I, too, am a LeanKernal lover, but I'm testing this one out. It seems pretty good, thus far.

Regarding the other wipings, yes, cache, data, dalvik and system. Then flash b40, then immediately flash gapps. You can allow google to re-d/l and install your apps automatically, then use TiBu to refresh important data, like passwords and the like, if you reaaaaaally want a clean install. For example, instead of re-doing passwords and settings on stuff like words with friends and pandora and stuff, I'll (if I want a really clean install) simply restore data only onto the new install.

TMI, here, I think. Let us know if you need any other help.

Go into rom control settings then go to signal. Choose signal text style then choose signal text. You can then choose your color. You can also do the same with Wi-Fi. Then go back then go to battery. Go to battery icon style and choose hide. Then go to battery bar location and choose where you want it to be located. Then choose the color of the battery bar. Go to clock and change it to the color you want as well.

There are a ton of themes out for this rom located in the 1st post of the aokp thread. You can achieve some nice colors on the original signal meter and original battery and original wifi meter as well if you want to with those type of indicators rather than the numbered scheme I listed above. Hope this helps. :)

I really like the icons instead of the text. So I now need to install themes that will allow this ROM change colors and create animations for the icons. Can you provide the link to the thread you mentioned? Sorry, couldn't find it.

You don't have to flash 4.0.4 first (and probably shouldn't)
 
Last night, I rooted my GNex and flashed AOKP. I booted it up and I can't access hardly any apps and Google Play is nowhere to be found. I also can't tell if I have anything on my SD card at this point anymore. Did I miss something?

Also, my signal bars are all grey. Not sure what's going on there either..
