[Verizon] [KERNEL][4.0.4] LeanKernel 3.10.0 (7/2)

I thought that too. They're learning me over @ the rootz :p

Hotplug governor can and will disable a cpu core when the the screen is ON or OFF depending on the load. InteractiveX is a hybrid of sorts and has a screen-OFF hotplug feature that disables a cpu core ONLY when the screen is off. From what I understand they also scale differently when the OS is calling for more power to run a certain task/tasks. It's all very fascinating to me

So we need to run the hotplug goverenor and not interactivex on setcpu?

/me is confused.

Ok I am running the LeanKernel 1.6.6 on Redemption ROM 1.0.4.

In SetCPU, thanks to binaryvisions, this is all I did.

Open up SetCPU.

Click on Scaling and selected interactivex
Click on Set on Boot.

So, is this all I need to do? Is there something else that needs to be done to "save" this config in SetCPU?

Now I see some of you talking about the hotplug governor setting.

You can see my confusion.

Again, not a n00b here, but can someone dumb this all down for me a bit? :p

Thanks!

You got the right idea Trooper. As soon as you open setcpu it enables the settings, no need to click save when you change them either. I would not use set at boot until you are certain that is what works for your phone. If you get a lockup due to a kernel mismatch with your hardware then it's tough to get out of it. When you reboot just make it a habit of going into setcpu, check your settings and back out.

I'm not running hotplug yet but I might give it a shot later today. I d/l the 180 version this morning of exp 4 so I just want to sit with IX for a while to make sure my phone can handle it.

You need to run whichever governor you feel like running and whichever works best on your phone. What runs great on mine won't necessarily run great on yours :)

Hotplug gov has been unstable for the most part (not for some folk though), until this latest exp4 came out according to the developer. I've never run it and have always enjoyed both InteractiveX and Interactive. I'm testing hotplug now I've been waiting for imoseyon to give the go ahead.

bj gave the rest of the info

I would suggest trying out the 180 I didn't really like the hot plug gov and like IX better hot plug should be better for the battery but I like knowing my phone will default to a slot that can handle what it it doing more than trying to conserve battery but my battery also never drops below 30%

How are you guys getting below 360 on set CPU? I just installed the latest lean kernal and aokp

There are two download links below the "stable" 1.6.6 link, one for the 180 version and one for the 230 version in the developer's rootzwiki thread.

What voltage are you guys using for the 230 MHZ slot?

Stock voltage for 230MHz with hotplug. 230MHz on hotplug was too "lazy" upon wake for me so I'm back to 350MHz.

Haven't tried InteractiveX yet on 1.6.6exp4, but typically it has some leeway with mV's, and quite a bit of it in past versions.

I'm trying out 700 mV at 230 MHZ on the InteractiveX governor.

I'm on stable 1.6.6. Is the experimental significantly better on battery? And which governor is the best on battery? From what I could glean of the discussion above, I am thinking hotplug, but just checking to make sure I didn't misunderstand.

Edit: went and found the link on the difference here and decided to come back and update it for anyone else wondering. Looks like hotplug is likely to save more battery, but also not as stable. I will try both and report back (though I think the results are individual-phone-dependent).

I never tried 1.6.6 stable just the 1.6.6 exp4 version and used hotplug. It was 100% completely stable for me on hotplug and battery life is excellent. It matched my favorite 1.2.1 IAX UV'd battery wise and was just a little bit snappier to my surprise. I just swapped kernels tonight (gave 1.6.6 exp4 a good 46+ hours) and am now testing out franco's 13.1 for the wknd. Wanted to go to something different & also see how far he has come along. Last time I tried his was at nightly 10.

OP update to 1.7.1!

I JUST flashed 1.7.0 like an hour ago! lol

HAHA :D it's sickening how fast stuff just pops out. In a good way!

You might want to go to 1.7.1 as some reverts were made to 1.7.0 that caused Kejar (developer of gummy) to make the request to imoseyon. I think he mentioned 1.7.0 was not smooth enough, not about battery issues iirc

Feed the sickness

I'm sticking with the 1.6.6 experimental for awhile until we get more reports.

I'm just getting too ridiculously good battery life to replace it heh.

I was just about to go back too until I saw 1.7.1 released and addressing the drain. So far it's looking pretty good. 2.5 hours down 3%, very comparable to .6. Taking it out for a spin now in 4G.

That sounds very promising. Let us know how it goes, bjanow. If you get better results with it than with 1.6.6 I may just have to try it myself.

You are wise beyond your years ;)

I always let the crackflashers test out the newest goods before jumping in! Saves me the trouble most times

For me, 1.6.6 exp3 ran flawless and good batt stats.
1.7 gave me quirks in SMS when I wanted to edit text. It just acted up not doing what I wanted it to do.
Put in 1.7.1 and its all good so far.

I liked 1.6.6 exp3 so I'll keep it in the wings.
1.7.1 is looking pretty good though.

Ok, not better but similar. At 39% now, heavy use for me, solid 11 hours. I can live with that. I could prob get 15 or more out of this easily but will plug in now. First cycle too, it can and should get a little better. Def worth the flash. Oh, btw, I'm running Jake's script with 1350 always and 230 low. No lag and snappy as heck.

Have you tried franc 13.1 yet?
